Impact of Technological Innovation on Organizations

This article discusses the impact of technological innovation on organizations, including how it can enhance productivity and the social and ethical consequences of subtypes such as semi-radical, disruptive, and incremental innovation. It also explores major milestones in technological innovation from 1990 to today and provides recommendations for organizations to remain competitive in the market.

Innovation is the process of thinking which enables the organization to make changes in order to
improve the productivity of the employee. The world has become advanced and people are eager
to adapt the latest technology to accomplish their desire. Technological innovation is being opted
to describe the important milestone of this innovation and the affect of them on organization. A
technological innovation can enhance the productivity of the business in effective manner.
However, the technological breakthroughs develop the social and ethical consequences.
Technological innovation is effective for the market platforms as it helps an organization to
perform quickly and easy manner.
The subtypes of technological innovations are Semi-radical, disruptive and incremental. Semi
radical innovation involves the considerable change either in the technology of the organization
or its business model. Substantial changes can be done at one time e.g. technology; it includes
minor amendments from the business level. The example of it can be Wal-Mart where
substantial change occurred at the business model. Wal-Mart has effective strategy to apply the
supermarket business model to offer a huge kind of goods at discount price and open large store.
The disruptive technology is the next subtype of the technology which is able to replace the old
trend into new one. It is most acceptable and accessible (Norman & Verganti, 2014). With the
help of this kind of innovation, the existing business is being motivated. Incremental innovation
is considered as the most widespread form of the innovation (GIS Innovation Centre, 2015). The
aim of this innovation is to get broader from an existing innovation without making huge
changes in investments. For instance, car models are upgraded year by year.
Technological innovation keeps the importance in changing the daily life of the human beings
(Schilling, 2010). It has been found that in past decades, the failure of kidney meant death of the
patient but due to innovative technology such as dialysis treatment which is able to remove the

impurities from the blood and protect the life of an individual. It has been analyzed that in past
decades, kidney failure meant certain death but due to effective adoption of technological
innovation such as dialysis treatment which can remove the deadly impurities from the blood and
save the life of an individual.
There are major four milestones from 1990 to today be described. Development of the computer
is the first milestone in which technology has become advanced and it enables people to maintain
the entire data of the organization in an effective way. Creation of the World Wide Web is
released in 1992. Websites are developed on regular basis where information can be taken from
any sources. Evolution of Google is considered as he pioneer in the area of internet technology.
Advancement of the wireless communication is emerged in 1990s. Wireless internet is
incorporated in home computers in the time of adding Centro chip by Intel.
Innovation can impact the organization management approach appropriately (Razavi and
Attarnezhad, 2013). There are numerous instances that represent the importance of the
innovation in the organization. It has been found that Amazon has launched the latest innovation
which name is ‘Prime Drone’. It helps to deliver the products in limited time to the customers. It
has huge potential to deliver the products within time period which has been determined of 30
minutes. An augmented reality lens is another innovative product which can monitor blood sugar
for people with diabetes. This innovation allows people with diabetes to check glucose more
often. There is another illustration of innovation which is driverless car such as Waymo and Uber
that have self driving car. It has shown the advanced technology (Felton, 2018). The organization
management approach has influenced because of this kind of innovation.

The various kind of innovation is being done by taking consideration of the demand of the
people. There are some recommendations in context of innovation which show they can be more
developed. It is necessary for the organization to keep focus on the latest technology to make
satisfy the customer otherwise they can choose other to satisfy their needs. Various organizations
are discussed in this assignment such as the example of Amazon’s prime air which provides the
products to the customers in 30 minutes; the organization should try to accomplish the task in
lesser time. The driverless car has been discussed which provide the services to the customer
without driver. This can be more attractive if organization provides the digital roadmap in the car
to the customer so that they get to know the way of driving to the destination. It has been found
that the innovation of the organization get success till the adaption of the latest technology is
accepted in the products and services (Gnyawali and Park, 2009). Along with that the example of
augmented real contact lens are described which can be more innovative if organization provides
the details of the blood pressure as well of the human body. These recommendations show that
organizations should make changes time to time for remaining in the competitive market for a
long time.
