CHALLENGES OF MANAGING TECHNOLOGY IN ORGANIZATIONS
Technology can be best described as a combination of various forms of management disciplines
that allows a given organization to come on board and be able to manage multiple aspects of its
technological fundamentals thereby creating multiple conditions that are related to competitive
advantages (Bathallath, Smedberg and Kjellin 2016). Technology has emerged to be one of the
best parameters in this modern society; nearly every organization is not capable of caring out an
efficient and reliable operation without implementing various aspects that are associated with
technology.
Moreover, the significant role that is attached to technology management function within
a given organization majorly aims towards understanding the value of various forms of
technology that are associated with the organization itself (Conforto and Amaral 2016). In this
modern society, a continuous development of technology has proved to the valuable in as much
as there exists some value that is specifically directed to the customers thus issues dealing with
technology management function within a given organization should be able to critically
evaluate the best time of investing on various aspects of technology development and when to
avoid the investment. On the other hand, technology management can be referred to as a form of
integrated planning, optimization together with the operation of various types of technological
products and services that are known to be taking place within a particular organization. The
currently developed new forms of technology have emerged as an intrinsic parameter in the lives
of many individuals. They have gone as far as infiltrating every facet that is attached to our lives
(Blumenthal et al. 2016). As a result of various technological advancements, various conditions

of the visual workplace are likely to become one of the most common organizational forms. At
the same time, multiple mechanisms that are related to managing different types of technological
changes have proved to be unsuccessful over the past period. This has majorly occurred due to
technological developments out passing the ability of various governments or even businesses
when it comes to the regulation of its use.
Moreover, the transition from a national based kind of industrial age to a more advanced
digital age is a more sophisticated process that will mainly require various personalities together
with several other technical specialists to bring on board a certain level of input as far as the
development of new management and leadership skills is concerned (Gholami et al 2016). In as
much as technology has brought on board quite several benefits in various organizations,
multiple challenges are associated with its management in different organizations thereby
hindering the performance of multiple tasks that are geared towards bringing on board various
adequate and reliable performance conditions. The challenges associated with managing
technology in an organization have the capability of posing quite a several threats to the
organizations thus making it very difficult to obtain different goals and objectives within the
stipulated time frame. At the same time, the challenges are known to have the capability of
affecting the top management officials of the organization, the employees and even the
customers who are known to be situated in various locations. The growth of multiple forms of
modern technology has revolutionized how distinct personalities are capable of performing
different activities across the global platform. The ability to keep various types of computers to
be running at optimal levels is an activity that strategically falls on information technology
managers who have been given the mandate to continually scale up their skills to keep up with a
good number of the latest technological changes.

Challenges of managing technology in an organization
Quite several problems associated with managing technology is various organizations
have emerged to be a severe issue that has been facing quite a several organizations thus
hindering their performance to greater heights in terms of how they carry their operations. In as
much as various companies can continue scaling up a good number of their investments by
entirely depending on multiple aspects of information technology resources, a right amount of
them is not doing enough to protect themselves (Edmondson and Nembhard 2019). The
following are some of the challenges that are associated with managing technology in various
types of organizations;
 Cybersecurity- Cybersecurity appears to be among some of the significant problems that
a good number of organizations are facing when it comes to managing their technology.
Various external threats from unknown hackers within the internet platform has been one
of the most significant challenges since it leads to the penetration of different essential
information that can be easily manipulated thus changing the way a given organization is
operating (Feeney and Welch 2016). Through this, a good number of organizations
usually find it hard to manage the right amount of their technological parameters.
 Shortage of skills for technology- Across various parts of the world, quite several
companies have been able to encounter a significant deficit for most of the critical
technology roles within their boundaries. Moreover, one of the most significant shortages
in this area usually is technology leaders who are experienced in terms of their skills.
