Introduction
Tesco is the leading retailer across the World. It has around 6902 stores in around 11
countries. Tesco provides a wide variety of products from clothes, groceries to software,
petrol, and financial services. In UK, Tesco is the biggest supermarket by having market
share of around 28%. Across the World, it is fifth largest supermarket. It was founded in
1919. Besides this, it also operates a bank that is known as Tesco bank (Harvey, 2016). From
the report, it is found that Tesco has experienced about 80 million shopping every week. In
UK, Tesco is the favourite supermarket by ensuring its excellence in the operation. Besides
this, Tesco also uses innovative technology in order to enhance the shopping experience of
the customers. It has also announced the RFID enabled barcode system that helps it in
counting the products. Due to this, it also started using the advanced facility of M-commerce.
Brief History of Tesco
Tesco was founded in the year 1919. Jack Cohen whose motto was to sell the products at
cheap rate founded it. Initially, it started as a group of market stalls. After that, it has
diversified its product line into the retailing of clothing, books, furniture, electronics,
software’s, internet services, and music downloads. In the present time, it is the leading retail
chain having 6784 stores worldwide. In the UK, Thailand, Ireland, India, China, Malaysia,
Poland, and Turkey, it has around 12 major markets. Among all these countries, Tesco
operation in UK is the biggest by having more than 3300 stores and 3,00,000 employees. In
the year 1996, it has also introduced the customer loyalty program in order to thank the
millions of customers. In the store magazine also, Tesco is the largest circulation magazine.
From the date of its establishment till now, it has made several significant changes that
helped it in achieving success.
Vision of Tesco
Companies like Tesco have a core vision. It believes that without a clear vision, company
will not able to survive or achieve growth. Vision of Tesco has five elements. Elements of
Tesco vision includes the growing business having several opportunities, needed and wanted
