INTRODUCTION Corporate governance can be understood as the combination of processes, rules or laws by which business organisations are operated, regulated or controlled. It plays a major role in success of the business organisation (Kovermann and Velte, 2019). This report is based on Tesco which is a British multinational groceries and general merchandise retailer headquartered in England. In this report, there is discussion related to problem in corporate governance. The importance of the issue is mentioned in this report. The methodology of doing the research is part of this report. MAIN BODY Problem statement Health and safety is important for the business organisation. It is part of corporate governance of the company and if the employees and customers are not provided healthy working condition then it is a problematic situation for the company (Adnan, Hay and van Staden, 2018). It creates a negative impact on the brand image of the business. Research aim and objectives Aim The aim is to analyse the impact of health and safety on brand image of company using Tesco as a case study Objectives ï‚·To understand the concept of health and safety in workplace ï‚·To evaluate the health and safety policy followed in Tesco ï‚·To evaluate the issues faced by company in case of health and safety scandal Research questions ï‚·What is the concept of health and safety in workplace? ï‚·State the health and safety policy followed by Tesco? ï‚·Write down the issues faced by company in case of health and safety scandal? Literature Review To understand the concept of health and safety in workplace AsperBoland(2019)Healthandsafetyconstitutesimportantpartofcorporate governance. Every company should assure that they maintain healthy working condition in the organisation. They must take care about the health and safety of all the stakeholders that are being involved in the business organisation. The employees work in the company and it is duty of the management to assure that all of them are safe. As per Health and Safety Act, 1974 all the business organisation must take proper care of the working staff at the place of work. Customers are also important part of the company. It is important to take care about their health and safety when they are inside the company. The company must not breach health and safety as it may cause issues for them and may dimmish the brand image of their organisation. To evaluate the health and safety policy followed in Tesco According to Ensuring health and safety in the workplace (2021)Tesco follows health and safety act and assures that all the stakeholders of the company are safe. The company aims at not hurting anyone at the time of working or shopping. The company keeps health and safety at utmost concern. All the employees are given proper training so that they are able to use machinery in proper manner. There are health and safety standards that are being followed by the
company and they assure that all the employees follow those standards. They keep checking their machines and other assets that can harm the employees or customers. By checking them they are able to assure that every thing is at right place and no one will be hurt by using them. All the business related decisions are taken after considering the health and safety of the stakeholders. All the policies and procedures are being formulated according to health and safety of the staff members. It also helps to manage risk in the business organisation and help the employees to work effectively. To examine the issues faced by company in case of health and safety scandal As per Badri, Boudreau-Trudel and Souissi (2018) Health and safety must be kept at utmost priority by a company. In case the company is not able to fulfil corporate governance then they have to face issues. The company has to pay fine and legal case can be filled against them. Any scandal done by company against the health and safety causes negative image of the organisation. There is direct impact of the wrong action taken by company on diminishing the brand image of the business organisation. It is necessary to avoid such practices and take care of the brand image of the organisation. Methodology It includes the steps that are taken by the researcher in order to carry on the research project. It helps to know about the method used to carry on the research. Data collection:There are two ways of data collection namely primary and secondary. Primary method of data collection means collecting first hand data. On the other hand, secondary method is secondary data that is already published. In this report, both primary and secondary method of data collection is used. Research choice:The two type of research choice are qualitative and quantitative research choice (Bairagi and Munot, eds., 2019).In qualitative method the secondary data is being analysed. In quantitative method the use of numerical and statistical data is done. To carry on the research, both the tools are being used. Sampling:It is the process of selecting some participants from universe in order to collect information from them. It is not possible to take review of overall population.
