ESSEY “The Business of Human Rights
Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belongs to each and every individual
in the world since birth until death. These rights helps in promoting and protecting dignity and
equality for every person regardless of any form of discrimination. The main focus of human
rights is on creating a good relationship between citizen of the country and law makers. In New
Zealand human rights are implemented with various other laws to give effectiveness to human
rights. Operating any business activity gives primary concern that no right of individuals are
violated but a business can have both negative and positive impact on many individuals such as
employees, consumers, suppliers (Bilchitz, 2016).
Business organisations providing importance to human rights are continuously adding
value to business in terms of social and economic advantages. Businesses and managers respects
human rights for safeguarding reputation and brand image. Together with this each department
of an organisation deals with humans in one or the other form. As workers, consumers, suppliers
and service providers etc. Managers in business helps in providing focus on human rights before
any investment and technical decision is considered for business growth. Managers of business
organisations in New Zealand through focusing on human rights minimises cost of operations
through reduced cost associated with dispute among labours and damages control campaigns. A
effective human rights in business operations helps in building loyal and efficient team to
achieve organisational objectives. Reliance of general public and government institutions on
brand name of business will provide more opportunity to expand in future.
When implementation of human rights are considered in an business organisation then
more emphasis must be made on some of the most important human rights in concern to
organisations. Right to equality and freedom from discrimination and right to personal security
must be preferred above all to be present in each business organisation. As the world has grown
so far but still discrimination is not abolished (Buhmann, 2016). No equal rights and
opportunities are given to employees in an organisation because of their gender, religion and skin
colour. Security must be provided to all the females against any form of misbehave with them or
abusive language used with them at workplace. Giving equal chance to develop personal skills of
an employee and guarding them with safety will help in minimising most the employees related
issues in business.

policy will be introduced throughout the supply chain of business. After implementation impact
of human rights on business operations must be considered to improve them in the required
areas. Together with human rights all other laws and code of practice will be used so that more
positive results can be ensured (Posner, 2016). A gap between the current and desired
performance will be found to minimise the gap in future. A accessible system for resolving
various grievances is established to minimise the negative impact and moves towards adaptation
