The concept of smart city is widely popular in city planning and structural
management. Many approaches behind the growing emphasis to build communicative and
cognitive use of frameworks to use the geographical information and the communication
technology to build an innovative element that has been observed and highlighted in the
urban planning to coordinate the smartness and define critical approaches in making of a
smart city.
The main idea behind a smart city in this globalized world is to have amenities and
touch of digitization in the physical structures to endow a city in an urban area to provide
more functions appearing to the people as less hard to the terms of social, communicative and
intellectual perspectives. Nowadays, the development of a city is depended on various aspects
related to the evolvement of smartness as are the economical, mobility, environmental,
populated and governance participation in the urban development. Regarding all the aspects,
a smart city consists of much more creation of new ideas than just a digitized way of life in a
city. Basically, the concept of smart city is considered as an urban utopia, as this is visualised
as an evolution of living life with a sustainable elements of social, economic and
environmental aspects with the help of the technological and application based future
developments.

Introduction:
This portion of the research analysis will be focused on the understanding of the
concept of smart city. Basically a smart city is an idea of civilization based on development
of the structural environment of an urban area related with people regarding their social,
economic and cultural aspects. Smart City is a universal idea related with different concepts
of willingness to evolve. The idea and concept varies from culture to culture to the people
from country to country. The imagination of a smart city dwells on the planning and the
development of the infrastructures and services.
Discussion:
Some examples of top smart cities of Australia are the Brisbane City Council, City of
Adelaide, City of Ipswich, Sunshine Coast Council and the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
These cities are planned and projected as smart cities to live in the future times in the present.
The increasing development of technology and the mass growth has a clear effect on the
infrastructural development of cities. Thus the idea of living is changing rapidly, the
governments are also backing up in the projects to help the imagination become reality.
Government Project Policies – The Government of Australia has planned many mission and
vision for the maximising effort to build smart cities. The policies are made to set out for the
smart cities are as like Smart Investments, Smart Policies and Smart Technologies (Pettit et
al. 2018).
