INTRODUCTION
Creative industries help in identifying individual’s creativity, talent and skills that may
help them in wealth creation. This industry is acknowledged globally for having a potential of
social and economic development (Carvalho and Cruz, 2017). Creative industry deals in several
areas such as visual arts, music, entertainment, artisanal products and so on. Thus, it can say that
not only they account maximum revenue and job creation but also develop a cultural identity for
promoting diversity. In this regard, this report is going to determine the contribution of creative
industry in economy development practices. Furthermore, it will be determining the advantages
and disadvantages of working as self-employed or as a freelancer. At last, it will be going to
cover factors that may affect future development of specific area.
PROJECT 1
P1 Examine what is meant by the creative industries, in relation to subject areas and
economic sectors.
Creative Industry refers to the group of business activities concerned with the creation
and utilisation of the knowledge and information having a potential for job creation and wealth
construction. They originate from individual's talent, skills and creativity. In recent times it is
also denoted as Orange Economy. This industry as the part of global talent is ranked as the
world's leading reputed, innovative and economically successful.
It is the fastest growing economy in the world. It includes many businesses like
marketing and advertising, fashion and graphic designing, architecture and crafts, etc. the
employment level in this industry has increased by 2.9% from 2040000 to 2101000 in the year
2019. It is estimated that an additional one million jobs will be created by 2030 in this sector.
This industry contributes € 36 billion and accounts for almost 12% in the UK exports of services
which is much higher than other industries like auto-mobile, aerospace and life science (Collins,
2018).
Advertisement and marketing are the key drivers for the growth of this industry. The
three largest sub sectors of this industry are publishing, designing and television and radio which
constitutes for about 75% revenue and 50% employment of the industry. The supply chain is a
complex process and proves to be challenging in calculation of the accurate gross value added by
each sub sectors.
There are thirteen sub sectors of this industry and they are: advertisement, architecture,
crafts, designer fashion, interactive leisure software, performing art, software and computer
games, marketing and advertisement, art and antique market, music, publishing, television and
radio and fashion designing. It is a combination of creation, commercialisation and production in
context of the intangible work which is cultural in nature.
P2 Explain the relationship between creative media production and the creative industries
Media Production plays a crucial role in development of the creative industry. There
establishes a significant intellectual capability and plays an important role in future global media
and creative industry. Few of the roles are listed below:

 Media shapes the public discussions on the nation's future by reporting the culture and
arts as culture exist everywhere even if there are no economic consequences prevail. It
incorporates what nation was, what nation is and what nation will be (Cunningham and
Swift, 2019).
 Media plays a vital role for the development of this industry as it followed the suits
relating to this sector for publicising it, which proved as a boots among the people
working in this industry. And later the industry gained recognition form the government
as well.
 Fascination content was provided by creative industry to the media editors as they always
look for good and interesting materials to publish. People working in this sector gives
them engaging stories which attracts people attention. These stories are mostly about the
success and are very positive.
 Media and creative industry includes acts of one’s creativity. It leads to creation of
intellectual property among others as well. In simple words it can be stated as develop it,
admit it and earn from it. In UK economy they are the biggest employment providing
sectors.
 Digital media plays a huge role in tumbling down autocrats but giving the power to the
citizen journalists to take large amount of information, synchronise the information with
their existing knowledge and preparing a balanced report.

P3 Explain the different forms of company that practise within the creative industries
Different forms of companies practising in the creative industry are enumerated below:
 Advertisement and Marketing Industry- It is a global public relation sector and
marketing organisations, media service and advertisement agencies.
 Architecture Industry- It is an art and science of designing infrastructure, planning the
design and method of construction, etc.
 Art and Craft Industry- It includes handmade goods by artists and includes art galleries
to textiles and so on.
 Design Industry- It incorporates all designing’s like fashion, interior, etc.
 TV and Radio Industry- The companies engaged in broadcasting of TV or ratio or other
ancillary services (Della Lucia and Segre, 2017).
 IT Industry- It comprises of companies producing hardware, software or other
semiconductor equipment’s.
 Publishing and Media Industry- It is primarily focused on consumer’s products like
books, magazine and other media.
 Museum Industry- It is engaged in the prevention and mounting of some historical sites,
natural wonders, etc.
 Performing Art Industry- These are the creative skills performed by an individual such
as music, dance, theatres or instrumental, etc.
 Gaming Industry- It involves companies generating revenues from the gaims developed
for the purpose of entertainment.

P4 Evaluate forms of employment in the creative industries
Creative industry provides a huge range of employment opportunities and career
paths. It offers an option of creating a diverse portfolio of careers combining different type of
employments (Earnshaw, 2017). Employment in this sector can be flexible and varies as well as
fulfilling. Few of the employment forms are stated below:
1. Artist- The person involved in creating arts, sculptures and other paintings. They
demonstrate a practical creative talent in their artwork and show their passion of art,
designing and other creative pursuits. They spend time on practising and shaping the
craft.
2. Actor- The person portraying a character in their performance. Their work environment
ranges from films, theatres, series, museums, offices or studios. Their working hours
varies and there is a flexibility for choosing the working hours.
3. Journalist- The person who works in journalism and reports news and write articles.
Reporter is a type of journalist who research, write and report the information gathered.
They write these stories to gain the public attention towards a topic which may affect the
society or a group of people.
P5 Describe the different roles associated with practice within a specific area of creative media
production
There are various roles associated with creative media production such as Production roles,
Creative roles, Management roles, Technical roles, Support roles, etc. Each role is described
below:
Production Roles: This role includes work of Production Manager, Co-ordinator,
Assistant, etc. Their work is to schedule shoots for the company, taking various decisions for the
production, etc. The most important role of them is to be a good communicator because they are
the one who will communicate what to be done and how to be done (Flew, 2019).
Management Roles: This comes under the management department who manages all the
workings and things in the company in order to bring efficiency. They are those who works
behind the stage. Their main role is to prepare budgets for the various departments.
Creative Roles: The role in this category is to bring something new in the dialogues, scripts,
message delivery, etc. They prepare various slogans, jingles, etc. as per the requirement.
Technical Roles: They looks behind the technical knowhow in the creation. Brings new
technologies in the production. Looks for all the technical assistance which is required before,
during or after the shoot.
P6 Evaluate the way in which roles and relationships differ between media production contexts
Roles means a designation of a person working in a company or in any industry. Whereas,
relationships refer to the connection between two or more departments in an organization for the
successful growth of the company. The various relationships in creative media production are
under:
 Management/hierarchies: Management is one which needs to establish a connection
with all the departments in the organization. It is the one who flows the information at all
the level of management and keeps check on the efficiency of the workings.

 Creative relationships: This involves making a bond with the whole creative department
in the organization for delivering the best idea. Creative department is a key in industry
especially in media production because it needs a strong creativity in the message. It
happens only if the department is having a strong relation in the work and among the
team.
PROJECT 3
P7 Discuss the factors that influence the creative industries and creative media production.
Creative industries are those who indulges something extra ordinary into their business in
order to give an innovative touch to the idea. This is something related to bring a new look. It is
done either in music, dance, art, or in those in which a new imagination can be added (Gong and
Hassink, 2016). In a new innovative world which is very dynamic is very important for the
industry to be creative.
Factors which affects the creative industry are:
 Brexit: Brexit brought many changes in Europe and UK but failed to bring a change that
is in creativity. Before Brexit UK was known to be a leader for creativity and after Brexit
it maintained its position and is still stands at top. UK tops creativity in the sectors of
television, films, etc.
 Taxes: Tax relief in creative production has proved favourable for the nation as it has
increased its production beyond the country's boundary. UK has experienced 70%
increment in the film production as of 2007 which is increasing gradually and regularly
(Snowball and Mapuma, 2020).
 Shortage Occupation List: UK has faced an issue of short occupation list but had taken
the step to recover it and they had recruited people into the industry in order to fill the
shortage list.
 New Technologies: The new emerging technologies in UK is favourable for the industry
as it supports in bringing new innovations and helps is walking along with the market
trends and needs.
 Government Changes: Government of UK has brought up several changes for the
benefit of industry such as entry barriers, providing financial viability, etc. These kind of
changes has increased the demand in the industry and boosted the country's economy.
P8 Analyse the way that factors may influence the future development of creative media
production.
The factors influencing the creative media production can be helpful in future
development or may not be in the development of the industry (Lazzaro and Noonan, 2020).
 New Technology: Continuous and frequent changes in technologies will bother the
industry in respect of cost or expenses made on it. If the industry will spend more on it
then the profit ratio will reduce.
 Relief in taxation: Liberal tax policy will encourage the industries to get misuse of it. If
according to the tax policy the companies will shift its loss burden, then no company will
try to recover its losses. Non recovery of losses will weakens the industry in financial
terms.

 Governmental changes: Changes like free entry barrier will encourage new firms or
companies to enter into the market of the creative industry. This will in future brings new
innovation and market competition in the industry. The competition will lead to flow of
money in more ratio in the market which will help in country's growth.
 Immigration: UK after Brexit uses highly skilled labours and employees in the industry.
The adoption of this level of employees will lead to increase in cost of the industry as
they will charge high for the work (Lazzeretti and Vecco, eds., 2018). This practice will
shorten the accessibility of the skilled employees in the area, which then allow them to
migrate to another place.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been summarised that creativity play an essential role in the
working of an individual. In this context, the whole industry that recognise the talent and skills of
individuals play an essential role which is known as creative industry. The main objective of this
sector is to provide a recognition to the one who have courage to show their talent in different
areas. In this regard, it is required to evaluate the overall contribution of this sector in economy
development practices. Furthermore, it is required to evaluate the factors that may influence the
effective development of this sector.
