INTRODUCTION
Creative industries help in identifying individual’s creativity, talent and skills that may
help them in wealth creation. This industry is acknowledged globally for having a potential of
social and economic development (Carvalho and Cruz, 2017). Creative industry deals in several
areas such as visual arts, music, entertainment, artisanal products and so on. Thus, it can say that
not only they account maximum revenue and job creation but also develop a cultural identity for
promoting diversity. In this regard, this report is going to determine the contribution of creative
industry in economy development practices. Furthermore, it will be determining the advantages
and disadvantages of working as self-employed or as a freelancer. At last, it will be going to
cover factors that may affect future development of specific area.
PROJECT 1
P1 Examine what is meant by the creative industries, in relation to subject areas and
economic sectors.
Creative Industry refers to the group of business activities concerned with the creation
and utilisation of the knowledge and information having a potential for job creation and wealth
construction. They originate from individual's talent, skills and creativity. In recent times it is
also denoted as Orange Economy. This industry as the part of global talent is ranked as the
world's leading reputed, innovative and economically successful.
It is the fastest growing economy in the world. It includes many businesses like
marketing and advertising, fashion and graphic designing, architecture and crafts, etc. the
employment level in this industry has increased by 2.9% from 2040000 to 2101000 in the year
2019. It is estimated that an additional one million jobs will be created by 2030 in this sector.
This industry contributes 36 billion and accounts for almost 12% in the UK exports of services
which is much higher than other industries like auto-mobile, aerospace and life science (Collins,
2018).
Advertisement and marketing are the key drivers for the growth of this industry. The
three largest sub sectors of this industry are publishing, designing and television and radio which
constitutes for about 75% revenue and 50% employment of the industry. The supply chain is a
complex process and proves to be challenging in calculation of the accurate gross value added by
each sub sectors.
There are thirteen sub sectors of this industry and they are: advertisement, architecture,
crafts, designer fashion, interactive leisure software, performing art, software and computer
games, marketing and advertisement, art and antique market, music, publishing, television and
radio and fashion designing. It is a combination of creation, commercialisation and production in
context of the intangible work which is cultural in nature.

Media Production plays a crucial role in development of the creative industry. There
establishes a significant intellectual capability and plays an important role in future global media
and creative industry. Few of the roles are listed below:
