This research proposal aims to investigate the effect of crude oil price volatility on the capital budgeting practices of petroleum companies, with a case study on Aramco Saudi. The goal is to understand the impact of this volatility on the company's capital budgeting process and explore possible techniques to mitigate its effect. The study will focus on Aramco Saudi's capital budgeting techniques and evaluate their effectiveness in achieving the company's vision for 2020. The research objectives include determining the effect of crude oil price volatility on Aramco Saudi's budgets, investigating the applied capital budgeting technique, assessing the budgetary policy used by managers for project assessment, and evaluating the effectiveness of the applied capital budgeting methods. The study will contribute to the body of knowledge on capital budgeting techniques for crude oil-dependent economies.
