Requirements of introducing electric cars in automobile industry
According to the view point of Gardner, the world is repeatedly changing towards the
electronic vehicles this is because petrol and diesel are non-renewal rescores and decreasing
frequently and they also have negative impact on environment because they produce hazardous
gases which lead to global warming and climate change. For solving tis problem there is
introduction of electric cars which are more comfortable and easy to operate without the use of
petrol and diesel. They operate on renewal energy sources which can be revive like electricity
which will help in saving limited and non-renewal resources for upcoming generation and other
important functions. This is also a green project because it does to remit hazardous gases and use
environment friendly technology which help climate in survival and reduce exhaustion of earth
resources. Gardner also stated that, one of the reasons for bringing electronic cars in automobile
industry is government interventions, as number of governments are taking corrective actions
against climate change and global warming where the main emphasis is on electronic vehicles as
they have zero emission of hazardous gases in environment (Heiteland et al. 2020). Even UK
government has formed a law regarding compete ban on manufacturing and operating petrol and
diesel car by 2040. Another reason for introduction of these cars to industry is there number of
variety and comfort level for customer. Fully electronic cars and hybrid cars are the two kinds of
variants which are available in market. The looks and variety of electronic are something
different from the regulate petrol/diesel cars, there is more space because of change in heavy
petrol and diesel engine, this help company to make cars more comfortable and stylish in looks
which can attract customer easily. So according to study these are reasons which are related to
introduction of new and stylish electronic cars to the automobile industry.
Several benefits that will be attained by Tesla by launching electric cars
As per the opinion of Eisler, Tesla is known for its world class technological products and
innovation projects which help world in getting favourable to technology and lead the world with

the help of it. Tesla motors is working on use of renewal energy form long time this also help
firm in management of natural resources and reduce the exhaustion of natural environment by
discontinue the use of petrol and diesel cars. Tesla is lunching electronic car in market on which
firm is researching from last 10 years. This is designed to provide best level of comfort and
safety to its user and help them in getting access to electronic vehicles on beast prices. There are
number of benefits which Tesla will get after lunching the electronic cars in business world. On
the basis of discussion made by Eisler, the first benefit to Tesla is that there are number of tax
benefits which are launched by government of different nation for promoting the sales of
electronic cars, this will help Tesla in saving tax and earn more net profits. For example, UK
government removed all tariffs from the electric vehicles and make the policy for 100 % tax
deduction for next 5 years of firms operations in UK. Fastest growing market is also the reasons
which will benefited for lunching electronic cars, the demand of electronic cars are rising
worldwide because of government intervention and climate change (Vilchez and Jochem, 2020).
Customers are willing to buy those cars which help them in more satisfaction and can provide
them safe and comfortable experience with improved technology, they are ready to pay prices
according to it. So tesla have good chance to take this opportunity as they have the product
which is in demand of customer for fulfilling their needs. This will beneficial for tesla to increase
its profit and get the win-win situation. Tesla have one more benefit of electric cars where it can
explore its technology to business world which it is researching from several years and can built
its separate brand image in mind of customer. This will increase the profits of firm and will also
ensure goodwill in market.
Different challenges faced by Tesla while introducing electric cars at global market place
According to the view point of Enyedi, Tesla will also face some challenges while lunching the
electronic cars in business world. The first challenge which Tesla face in lunching of their
electronic car is threat of competitors, In Automobile industry there are various firm which also
want to launch and have number of options in their products. For example, various Chinese
companies have cheap products in comparison of Tesla and they have also large market cover
with their main focus on large sales, this can be impactful for firm in getting access in Asian
market where users have low purchasing power (Pries and Wäcken, 2020). Production cost will
also become calling for firm as electronic cars needs huge investment on their plants where
manufacturing is done. This manufacturing also requires fully automated machinery which also
Document Page
implements huge capital investment and operating cost. This will lead in decrease profits of firm
and huge loan burden will also arise in working of firm. Changing customer towards firm
product is also a difficult task for Tesla as various people have mind-set that petrol/diesel cars
are suitable for them so changing their mind will also a difficult task for firm which it will face
while lunching new electronic cars. There is one more difficulty which Tesla have to face in
functioning, it have to launch number of instruction manual and training programmes for
informing customer about the features and operating system which are different from petrol cars.
This will use huge amount of money and can also impact negatively on tesla profits. Global
market also consist of number of competitor who are researching on same concept and have
more efficient technology then tesla they can also impact on firm negatively by lunching more
efficient product then it and lead to failure of firm’s electronic cars (Van Woensel, 2020). This
all will impact on decision of firm for lunching electronic vehicle in global market.

D) RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES
Research methodology define as a systematic procedure used by investigator in order to collect
authentic and accurate data and information so that they can take best decision regarding the
research project. This section includes different sources and methods which are going to be used
by researcher so that they can gather all the essential information and data related to a specific
topic. Under this, various techniques and methods are includes which are qualitative aswell as
quantitative research, primary & secondary data collection method, research approaches and
philosophies, sample size and many more (Willmott, 2020). All these methods are going to be
discussed in a detail manner as follows:
Research Philosophy
It is the most crucial and essential part of research methodology, which is generally
ivided in two sections which includes interpretivisim & positivism research philosophy. In
Document Page
context of present investigation, it is said that researcher adopt positivism kind of research
philosophy. Reason behind adopting this research philosophy help in collecting authentic and
reliable information for which primary method of data collection are used which consist of
questionnaire approach. Whereas, if talking about interpretivisim research philosophy, this
method is not adopted by the researcher as it does not suits the research format (Ryder and et. Al.
2020). It has also been identified that this is a type of research philosophy which requires huge
resources as well as consumes lot of time which delays the outcome of research. Therefore,
positivism approach is used by researcher to complete the whole investigation within given time
period.
Research Approach
It is said that two main approaches are there which is used by researcher in order to
conduct a research in an effective and efficient manner. These two research approaches includes
inductive as well as deductive in which deductive approach is used by the researcher in present
investigation. Itis one of the most suitable and appropriate approach as it assist in conducting
investigation on different interesting topics so that valid outcome will be produced. This will
assist researcher in order to gather all the information in an effective manner .
Methodology and Research Design
Methodology: For gathering information and data, it has been concluded that there are
two main kinds of research methodology which assist in gathering information and data so that
the authentic conclusion can be drawn by researchers in an effective manner. These two methods
consists of qualitative as well as quantitative methods where both assist investigators for
conducting a research in an appropriate manner. In the present research context, investigator
adopt quantitative research method for gathering valid and accurate information related to a
specific topic. For this, researcher adopt questionnaire method for gathering quantitative data and
information in a descriptive manner (Kilrea and McCaslin, 2020). Whereas, if talking about
qualitative method it has been said that it is not so beneficial and useful asper the requirements of
present investigation as it requires lot of time, efforts, cost as well as resources of researchers.
Research design: It is one of the most important part of research as it helps investigator
in order to examine the impact of research. In this context, three main sort of research design are
there which consist of experimental, descriptive as well as exploratory research design. In the
present research, it has been identified that descriptive design is going to be adopted by the
Document Page
researcher as it assist investigator in order to gather information from various sources and draw
authentic and accurate conclusion (Flick, 2020). This as a result help them in gaining better and
positive results. Whereas, experimental aswell as exploratory method in research design are not
as beneficial as descriptive design which as a result doesn’t draw any valid conclusion in an
effective manner.
Data Collection Method
Data collection defines one of the most effective procedure of gathering different types of
information on a specific topic which will assist in answering all the questions in an effective
manner. For collecting information on a particular topic, two main kind of methods are used by
researcher which includes primary aswell as secondary method of data collection. Both refers to
the best methods whichis adopted by the researcher in order to collect information from different
sources. In case of primary methodof data collection, best and most suitable source is
questionnaires whichis adopted by the investigator in the present research. Thisis a tool which
helps in gathering reliable, accurate as well as valid data so that positive conclusion will be
drawn effectively. On the other hand, secondary methodhelp in collecting information from
different sources which consist of books, newspaper, magazines, various online articles,
publications and many more. In this research project, both primary and secondary research
method are adopted by the investigator for gathering information to conclude the whole research
in an effective manner.
Data Analysis
It is said that in order examine or analyze all the collected information in an effective
manner, researcher adopt thematic analysis method. It refers to an analytical tool which helps in
identifying appropriate as well as valid information and data. Under this, various sort of themes
are going to be developed which will help investigator to easily examine the information.
Therefore, it has been concluded that thematic analysis is essential in order to identify
quantitative data in an accurate as well as systematic manner (Staron, 2020).
Ethics
It is one of the most essential element of study as every research needs to be based on
various principles of ethics which consist of carefulness, objectivity, confidentiality, norms
legality, respect for privacy, honesty & soon. All these are the necessary principles of
investigation which will assist researchers in order to perform every activity of investigation in

an ethical manner. With the assistance of following ethics while conducting the research it will
produce positive and accurate outcome (Hesse-Biber, 2020).
Sampling
It has been identified that there are mainly two methods of sampling which are
probability & non-probability. Asper the opinion of researchers, it is beneficial to adopt
probability sampling method. Reason behind this is that this is a technique which assist
researchers in order to choose sample size on the basis of random sampling. In the present
research, investigator select 30 respondents with the help of probability sampling method. As
this technique assist in savings cost as well as time of investigator. Whereas non-probability
sampling is another technique which is time consuming and requires lot of resources and funds,
therefore it is not adopted by the investigator.
Limitations
In order to conduct any kind of research, it has been observed that there are different sort
of limitations which is faced by investigator while gathering information & data. It consists of
various issues such as lack of finance, resource, skills, insufficient time, lack of team work and
coordination and many more (Monrouxe and Ajjawi, 2020.). All these limitations create negative
impact on the whole researcher outcome and reduce the positive aspects which is gained by
conducting the investigation.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Overview & Background of study
For an organisation to successfully survive in the market it is important that the company
product and services are in innovated with time which can help in dealing with the changing
needs and wants of customers so that a competitive advantage can be gained. With the increasing
pollution in environment and changing government regulations regarding the ban of vehicles run
on fossil fuels, the electrification of cars can play an important role in making an organisation
successful (Larson and et. al., 2014). This can also help the company in effectively contributing
towards protecting the environment through the use of clean and green energy. In this report
Tesla Inc. is taken which is an American electric vehicle and clean energy company based in
California, US. The company aims at offering electric cars at affordable prices in the global
market so that the sales of company can increase. In this report small scale research will be
conducted so that the impact of offering electric cars in the global market can be studied with the
help of effective research tools and techniques so that the objectives of research can be achieved
efficiently (Du and Ouyang, 2017). Also later in this report certain recommendations which can

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
A literature review is related with critically reviewing the secondary data collected from
magazines, books, journals etc. so that a deep knowledge about the subject area can be generated
so that critique related to the information can be done. With the help of LR a researcher can
develop positive and negative view points regarding the subject area so that the research aims
can be achieved. Following is the literature review based on the subject area which is gathered
from various articles:
Requirements of electrification of vehicles
As per the views of Giambattista, (2020), electrification of vehicles is an important
requirement as it can help in reducing pollution caused due to vehicles run on fossil fuels, it can
act ads an alternative for the lack of availability of much reserves of fossil fuels in the near future
etc. Electrifying vehicles can also help in improving the performance of vehicles with making
the operations of vehicles easy. This will also limit the negative impact which vehicles run on
petrol and diesel create on environment along with providing a renewable source of energy
which can help in saving the environment and also in reducing pollution. Electrification of
vehicles can also help the companies in dealing with the environment protection norms of
various countries so that they can easily operate and function internationally so that their
expansion can take place efficiently. Electric vehicles can also help in providing more comfort
and use of advanced technologies so that the satisfaction of customers can be increased and their
experience can be enhanced. It will also help the companies in contributing towards protecting
environment from the emission of hazardous gases so that the companies can follow their CSR
policies more effectively. The UK government has also formed a law banning the manufacture of
Document Page
fossil fuel run vehicles which can help the companies in following the governmental laws in an
efficient manner. This s green project which uses environment friendly technologies so that
pollution can be reduced which can help in increasing the sustainability of the company over a
long-run in the market.
Benefits which can be achieved by Tesla by electrifying its vehicles
According to the views of Brandon, (2015), the main aim of Tesla is to accelerate the
advent of sustainable transport through electrifying the cars so that the customers can be
influenced to purchase them by providing them highly advanced technologies, designs and
features. Tesla has always aimed at producing best-in-class automotive while also accelerating
the adoption of electric vehicles which can help the company in being more sustainable and
successful in the market so that a competitive advantage can be achieved and profitability of
company can be increased. Production of electric cars can help Tesla in gaining various benefits
like ease of doing business in the international market as the use of renewable energy can help
Tesla in gaining the trust of foreign governments easily. Also with the electrification of vehicles
can help Tesla in making use of highly advanced technologies so that unique designs can be
provided to their customers which can help in attracting them and increasing the sales of
company. Also the growing knowledge among customers related to global warming can increase
the market for electric cars which can be beneficial for Tesla. It can also help the company in
increasing the safety measures in their cars which can make its cars more preferred in market so
that the sales of company can be increased in relation to fuel-based cars. Tesla can become a
leading manufacturer in the market by being the first in adopting renewable sources of energy so
that a competitive edge can be gained. With the help of increased R&D better innovations can be
brought in its cars so that better features can be provided to the customers and high customer
satisfaction can be achieved.
Challenges faced by Tesla in introducing electric cars in global market
According to the views of Peter, (2018), Tesla is also facing certain challenges in the
electric vehicles industry which can impact its business and its ability of being profitable over a
long-run. The foremost challenge which is faced by Tesla is the increased number of competitors
in market which can affect the cost of Tesla and also affect its market base which can lead to a
decrease in its number of customers. Chinese companies which have access to cheap
technologies and product can make electric cars available to customers at lower rates which can
Document Page
affect the sales of company. Tesla manufactures cars which are expensive are not affordable to
low income families which limits the sales of the cars to a limited section of the society which
can be increased by lowering the production costs of company. The lack of EV charging
infrastructure also act as a challenge for Tesla which prevent it from launching its cars in new
markets which can help the company in capturing new customers. Also the other challenge
related with electric vehicles is that the wear and tear of these vehicles require high cost of
maintenance which can impact on customer preferences related with purchase of electric vehicles
and affect the sales of company. Other challenges faced by Tesla related with EVs is that there
are limited driving range of cars which can be provided to the customers which limit their
choices and impact the demand for these cars in market. Also the high costs of battery along with
battery issues are also the reasons which can impact the demand of electric vehicles over
traditional fuel run vehicles. Other companies which are able to manufacture hybrid vehicles
which use both battery and gasoline are able to capture more markets than only electric cars
which is a challenge for Tesla which produces car which are run solely on electricity. The
company also needs to change the perspective of customers related to electric cars so that the
sales of its cars in market can increase by providing them with better designs, more options and
lower costs.

effective manner (Kumar, 2019). This allow evaluation of data gathered from questionnaire in
descriptive manner which help in developing better understanding about it.
Sampling method: - It is about choosing some set of people in order to gather the
information regarding current area of study on behalf of whole population. The sample is mainly
selected either by making use of probability sampling and non-probability sampling. For
gathering information regarding current study the probability sampling method will be used as it
remove the bias behaviour while grouping the respondents by selecting people using random
sampling method (Mackenzie and et. al., 2012). The sample size would be 30 respondents that
are managers of Tesla.

CHAPTER 5 RESULT ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
The data which is gathered from both the primary and secondary sources is get further
analysed with the help of thematic analyses method (Scotland, 2012). This method is used as a
analytical tool which involve creation of several themes in order to examine the information in
effective manner. These themes will help in providing the idea regarding further discussion.
Data analysis as per primary information
Theme 1: Requirement for introducing electric car within automobile industry
Interpretation: From the data presented above it has been identified that around 25
managers said yes electric car must be introduced within the global automotive industry. On the
other hand 5 respondent said no electric car should not be introduced in automotive sector as it
involve higher cost in its manufacturing. As per the presented data it has been interpret that more
people said yes to this, as the fuel, maintenance and other cost of vehicle are increasing day by
day which in turn increases the demand for alternative options to this. Therefore, it remain
beneficial to introduce the electric car within the automobile industry.

Interpretation: From the information which is presented above it has been found that the
electric car will bring up several changes with its usage. By performing investigation over this it
has been found that around 15 out of 30 managers said that it help reducing the operational cost.
Despite of this, 10 people said that it reduces the carbon emission which is the main cause behind
legal action over several automotive companies and around 5 people said that it help in reducing
the maintenance cost. From the overall analysis of data it has been found that the lower operating
cost is remain the answer in majority, this is so because the adoption of electric car will reduce
the cost of fuel and other maintenance which is mainly done when car started infecting the
environment and these things can be eliminated by making use of electric care.
Theme 3: The major impact that electric car of Tesla will bring within the global automotive
sector
Interpretation: From the above mentioned information it can be said that electric car
bring huge impact over the global motive industry. By investigating over this 10 respondents
said that it increases the competition by bring such an innovation within the automotive sector.
On other side 5 respondents said that it divert the attention of customer from fuel based car to
electric one. While 15 said that this presented a new scope of innovation for the players within
industry. From the analysis of whole data it can be said that majority of player are in favour of
new scope of innovation as the launch of electric car given a direction to other players to
improve their offerings by extending this innovation to produce more effective vehicle.
Theme 4: Benefits that Tesla get with the launch of electric car within the automotive
industry
Interpretation: There are number of benefits that Tesla get with its launch of electric car
within automotive industry. By performing the investigation over this it has been found that
around 8 managers out of 30 state that higher profit is the biggest advantage that Tesla will get
with the launch of electric car. On other side 12 respondents said that sustainability in
environment is the main benefit of electric car launch. But 10 respondents said that competitive
advantage is major benefit. From the analysis of this it has been found that majority of people
believe that sustainability in environment is major benefit that Tesla will get as electric car allow
it in reducing the emission of harmful things that pollute the environment and also restrict
company to maintain with standard.

Theme 5: Launch of electric car will support in eliminating the harmful effect of driving a
vehicle over environment
Interpretation: From the data which is presented above it has been found that around 28
manager out of 30 said yes that the electric car launch will help in minimising the harmful effect
of driving a vehicle. But on the other hand 2 respondents said no this won't happen in this way.
From the analysis of data it has been found that majority answers are yes which is so because the
electric car will avoid making use of fuel and also run over batteries which get charge through
electricity. This in turn reduce the carbon emission and hence help in avoiding the harmful
impact of vehicle over environment.
Theme 6: The advantageous factors within use of electric car that help in attracting people
toward purchasing it
Interpretation: There are number of factors which help in attracting people toward
purchasing the electric car. By conducting an investigation over this it has been found that
around 15 managers out of 30 said that electric car provide a flip from fuel to battery. Despite of
this 10 respondent said that cost efficient is the major factor that attract people as it reduces the
maintenance and operational cost. But 5 respondents said that environment friendly is the major
factor that help in attracting people. From the evaluation of this it has been found that the
majority of people get attracted toward purchasing is that it allow them to reduce the cost of
maintenance and operation by flipping from the fuel to battery. This will remain attractive factor
as it avoid the cost of fuel which is increasing day by day.
Theme 7: Major challenges that Tesla will face while introducing electric car at international
market
Interpretation: The Tesla may face number of challenges while launching an electric car
at international level as it is a new innovation to market. Through collection of primary
information it has been found that 15 people out of 30 said that car price will be the major issue
for Tesla as electric car production require more investment to be done. Despite of this 5
respondents said that battery durability is the major challenge that Tesla may face as it usually
have short life which require to charge on timely manner. But 10 respondent said charging
infrastructure would be the major issue for Tesla as it is not much available in marketplace. By
evaluating the information gathered it has been interpreted that majority of responses are toward
the car price. This is so because to produce electric car it require high technology with advanced

infrastructure and also required greater R&D practices so that the execution can be performed in
effective manner. So this cost of manufacturing and marketing get transferred to its original price
which is turn make it more challenging as cost of car is not bearable to each and every
individual.
Theme 8: Remedial actions that can be taken into consideration by Tesla to deal with the
challenges it faces while introducing electric car at international market
Interpretation: By performing this investigation it has been identified that there remain
number of issues in marketplace which may be faced by Tesla while launching its car at
international market. So, while determining the ways of reducing such issues it has been
identified that around 15 managers said that if the power backup tool can be provided with the
electric car then it would be more beneficial as it expand the battery life. On other side 5
respondent said that creating charging spot will be beneficial for the company and 10
respondents said that carbon fibre can be used in manufacturing which in turn help in reducing
the cost of production. From the analysis of whole gathered data it has been interpreted that
majority of answers toward this remedial action is power backing tool as it help in expanding the
life span of battery and at the same time also remain a cost effective tool for the company. The
gathered data will be further analysed with the help of thematic analyses method. In this method
several the company.
Data analysis as per secondary
From the literature review which is based on the data collected from secondary sources it
can be concluded that electric vehicles are growing in demand in market and can help the
automotive companies in surviving sustainably in the market. It can also help in protecting the
environment from the emissions caused from the tradition vehicles so that both air and noise
pollution can be reduced. Electrification of vehicles can also help in saving the exploitation of
limited available fossil fuel so that a continuous and renewable source of energy can be used
which can also help in lowering the negative impacts on the environment. Tesla need to
overcome the challenges which it can face in the market due to increased competition, old
perceptions of customers, limited options that can be made available to customers, high
manufacturing costs etc. so that the benefits for Tesla can be increased. Thus it can be said that
selling electric cars in the global market can have various impacts on the company which can be
effectively dealt with so that the benefits can be maximised thereby increasing the profitability of

company. With the increased in knowledge among customers about global warming their
preferences have changed towards using green technology so that the emission of green house
gases can be reduced which means that it has become important fort the companies top switch to
manufacturing electric vehicles. These vehicles are also easy to maintain and can also help in
reducing noise pollution thus contributing highly towards protecting the environment. The
company can also effectively use its CSR policies so that the company's brand image in market
can be improved which can help it in acquiring the trust of its customers and creating a loyal
customer base in market.
CONCLUSION
From the above performed investigation it has been found that with the change in climate
due to pollution and several other factor lead to make the rules and regulations of government
toward automotive industry getting more strict. This in turn created more pressure over
automotive industry to produce vehicle which emit less carbon that affect the environment. At
this stage the demand for electric car can be consider high which in turn help in avoiding such
practices that may harm the environment and hence help in achieving the sustainability at
marketplace. So, from the study it can be said that introduction of electric car within automotive
industry will be beneficial for the company. By further performing investigation it has been
found that there are several benefit that an organisation will get with the launch of electric car in
market such as Higher profit, sustainability in environment and competitive advantage. This is so
because electric car is a new innovation which remain an attraction among customers which
generate higher profit and at the same time help in achieving sustainability in environment due to
its feature of switching fuel from electricity to run the car which reduces carbon emission.
Despite of this, it has been found there are certain challenges that may influence the
launch of electric car in global market such as car price of electric car is high as new technolog6y
and material used for producing it which is of high cost. Other than this battery durability may
also be a major issue for an organisation launching the electric car as battery life remains
relatively lower. Addition to this infrastructure for charging the battery may also be a major
challenge for an organisation as the concept of electric car is not get that much popular due to
which there are very few charging stations available to car drivers for charging their car.

RECOMMENDATION
From the above analysed information it has been found that there are number of
challenges Tesla have to face while launching an electric car in marketplace which in turn lead to
its failure at marketplace. But there are certain suggestions that are exerted to Tesla that it can
adopt while launching the car,
The Tesla must put more emphases toward research and developing practices in order to
determine the ways through which the cost spend while manufacturing of car can be
reduced. So that when the internal cost of operation can be reduced it automatically
minimise the price of car in market.
Tesla can also try to produce a power backup tool that can be carried by car driver by
itself and make use of it while the car need to charge for moving forward.
Tesla must tie up with the company which help it in producing the batteries for its electric
car that are long lasting and can help in running the car for more hour so that car driver
can travel with it without worrying about battery failure. This in turn also help in
increasing the demand of electric car within the marketplace.
