The emergence of the new process was one of the most essential consequence of the II
World war i.e. the removal of colonization, that had given a very different opportunity to the
countries which are on the developing stage to get reasonable social, economic developments
and for this purpose, it was widely expected to achieve the formal independence of the politics
from the colonies, which could restricted these nations to raise towards the progress with the
more efficiencies. In this critical analysis the discussion will be based on the economic, political
and social consequences of the acquiring full power by one dominating nation on the other
weaker nation. Further the colonialism will be linked with the dependency theory and all its
critiques will be manually highlighted. Using the World system theoretical approach in the works
it will be analyzed that colonialism is that process which has diverse impacts over the developing
countries in the many ways i.e. socially by creating and enforcing of the new set identities and
modern philosophies which had changed the social and traditional organizations. Politically,
leaving up of negative impacts on newly created nations by colonialism and economically,
reflecting the interdependence of new independent countries with the masters of their former
colonies. So, a detailed check of the economic, social and political outcomes of colonialism from
a world system theory system will be conducted further in this study.
Colonialism-
It is that policy, where a country seeks to extend or retain its superiority above that of the
other peoples or the nations, usually with an intention of opening the trading opportunities. The
nation colonializing seeks to gain benefits from the colonized territory or land mass. The
dominating nation basically tries to impose their religions, economies, medical practices on the
natives. This topic has remained in the controversy and was been argued by many scholars, some
said that it was a positive move towards modernization whereas others argued that it was
naturally and basically focusing on the European culture, they said that modernization was a
unique concept which was introduced by the European. It was basically regarded as the
relationship which dominates an indigenous majority by a minority foreign invaders (Masqueller
& Desai, 2018).
Colonialism according to the historians are of four types basically and those are shelter
colonialism which has involved immigration, which is often motivated by the reasons of

religious, political or economic, exploitation colonialism has a few colonialist and aims over the
exploitation of the natural resources or the peoples as labors basically for earning benefit out of
them, surrogate colonialism involves the settlement programmers which are supported by the
power of the colonies, internal colonialism is an belief which has uneven structural powers
amongst the areas of a nation (Cavanagh & Veracini, 2016).
Developed country-
It is defined as a country having developed economy and advanced technological
infrastructures compared to the other nations, and they are designated to look at the several
factors which includes gross national product, gross domestic products, per capita income, and
level of industrialization, standard of living and infrastructure (Golong, et al., 2019).
Underdeveloped country
It is one which is not economically developed. These countries are poor and has low per
capita income, widespread poverty, and the dire conditions are faced by a lot of its citizens. Here
a very less amount of money is spent on the healthcare and education and a very less industrial
activities. The main occupation of the underdeveloped ones is agriculture, unemployment and
underemployment are the major problems here (Acemoglu & Robinson, 2012).
A developing country
It is also known as low and middle income country. It is less developed than developed
countries and more than economically underdeveloped countries. These are characterized as
industrially less developed, having low human development index but however they have
strength for growing and securing potentially which includes features like the high living
standards and per capita incomes. China, Japan, Germany, Russia, Brazil, France etc. are some
examples of the developing countries in the world (Allen & Williams, 2016).
The basic differentiation between the developed countries and the developing countries-
The nation is said to be a developed one if it has got an effective industrialization and
individual income rates, less of unemployment and poverty standards, healthy and nutritious
living conditions and generating more of income from the industrial sector as they are highly
