This report analyzes the paradox between the media reporting of youth crimes in New Zealand. It covers four different aspects of the issue and comments on the sociological and psychological impacts behind teenage crimes. The selected articles reflect upon the basic modus operandi of some general crimes, necessary actions that should be taken to deter the teenagers, and the mechanisms that can be introduced to curb down the criminal tendencies that are brewing up in the teenagers. The article analysis raises questions over the validity of the education system and the role of the policing authorities. The media's attention was less on the crime issues, and they were more worried about capturing the smile that the main culprit shared with his family during a court trial. Instead of presenting the tough routines that this criminal is going to face in the torture rooms and jails, media projected a part of his life which was glamorizing him.
