INTRODUCTION
Tourism in simple words is defined as travelling for fun or for some others purposes. It is
a business of attracting, accommodating and entertaining various tourists all over the world. In
the present time tourism industry is one of the fastest growing and available with huge amount of
opportunities. The global travel and tourism industry is valued at USD 7581 Billion and the
forecasted growth is 3.8%. This industry is contributing approx 10% of the total GDP at global
level. Their are number of destinations emerging in the tourism industry and these destinations
needs to be managed and developed so that growth can be maintained in the industry. In this
project the concept of destination management is defined. Together with this evaluation of role
of destination management at different stages of the destination life cycle is presented in detailed
manner.
Tourism is an activity thorough which individuals move and stays in different places
other then their usual place of living. Their are different types of tourism such as domestic,
inbound and outbound tourism. The presentation possess different emerging destinations and
their features and characteristics in detailed manner to understand tourism destination
management.
TASK 1
P1 Features and Characteristics of global destinations
Principles of Tourism Destination Management
Global Tourism is a leisure activity which crosses national borders of different countries
and explores different destinations for tourism purposes all over the world. Governments of
various countries ease visa norms by allowing visa-on-arrival, visa-free arrival for travellers of
some countries. With opening up of international market and globalisation several destinations
are top choice of commuters all around world which includes Paris, Dubai and Venice.
Top International Destinations-
Australia: Australia is one of the famous place known for wide space and natural
wonders. It is one of the most highly urbanised country in the world. Each year large number of
tourists visits this country and tourism contributes approx 3% towards GDP of the country.
Beaches, mountains and forests in Australia attracts more and more tourists and make this place

more beautiful and attractive. Their are various attractions in Australia that adds some positive
feature to the country.
Features-
Opera House- In 20th century it is one of the most famous and distinctive building where
number of art related activities are performed.
Art Museum- This museum is situated in Melbourn which is quite developed and
attracts tourism with its beauty. Art museum becomes one of the attraction their.
Great Barrier Reef- This can be seen form the outer space and it is world's biggest
single structure made by the living organisation.
Vietnam: This is one of the safest country to travel and attracts tourist with beaches,
rivers, Buddhist pagodas and cities. Nature and culture in Vietnam attracts more and more
tourism and this place is evolving as a new tourism spot in the country. Its GDP is reflecting a
growth rate of 7.55 due to enhancement in tourism sector.
Features-
Rocky Island- Ha Long Bay is featured with thousand of limestone karsts in various
shapes and sizes. Climate and natural beauty attracts more and more tourism here.
Beach Resorts- At the largest island of Vietnam establishment of resorts are made they
seems attractive as natural beauty is their and attractive climatic conditions.
Venice, Italy- Venice is a city in Italy formed by a group of 118 small islands and is famous for
its canals and transportation through boats. Its history dates back to 10th century B.C. when it has
inhabited by ancient Veneti people. At present, it attracts millions of foreign tourists visiting it
every year.
Features-
Doge's Palace- It is the main landmark of city and has been modified as a museum. The
palace was the residence of Doge of Venice.
St. Mark's Square- It is the principal public square in Venice and acts as social,
religious and political center of Venice.
Rialto Bridge- It is oldest of the four bridges built over the Grand Canal and has been
rebuilt several times.

P2 Different core resources and attractions for a range of global destination
Range of global destinations available around the world and all these destinations are
famous and preferred for availability of different resources and attractions available their. Their
are number of resources available but some of them are termed as core resources. These core
resources possess four elements which are cultural resources, heritage resources, natural
resources and created resources. Destinations that are considered here available with one of the
core resources and which makes that destination most attractive among all.
Australia: This is one of the desired destination when tourism is considered. Its
desirability has developed because of the availability of core heritage resource in the city.
Australia is considered to be rich, vast and extraordinary when it comes to development. It is
termed exceptional as combination of history and modern treasures are maintained in glorious
manner. Australia is available with historical sites, iconic monuments and attractions. Its natural
beauty can not be replaced with any other thing in the world. It has become one of the dream
destination for visitors who likes to spend their time with nature. Symmetrical and organised
architecture to different cities of Australia gives its buildings a magical and dominating feeling.
Availability of Great Barrier Reef made this country more attractive as more and more
tourists gets attracted towards water and adventure with living organisms in it. Art museum and
opera house provides connectivity to culture and heritage of the country and make this place
more adorable by tourists.
Vietnam: This country is turning out to be one of those places which is developed for
tourism purpose. Global tourism destination of Vietnam is managed on its created resources.
From the past history it is analysed that this city was not developed earlier but after that all the
development takes place with created resources to make it as a global destination. All the
infrastructure and heritage available in Vietnam and its various cities are created over the period
of time. Development is made in the cities but natural beauty is maintained at the same time.
More and more attention is made in such manner so that availability of natural resources are
utilised for development of the country to set it as a global destination place.
Rocky island of Vietnam make this country more attractive and its beach resorts
maintains natural beauty and provides on of the most pure and memorable experience to tourists.
Venice: It is a north-eastern city in Italy and one of the famous among all for its heritage.
Grate heritage and culture of Venice is termed as its core resources which helps Venice to

become one of the global destination. Venice and its lagoon were added in the list of UNCSCO
world heritage sites in the year 1987. Venice is famous for its culture of art and its artistic culture
attracts tourism at global level. This country is named with some different names and known as
“Queen of the Adriatic”, “City of Water”, “City of Masks”, “City of Bridges” and “City of
Canals”. Its natural beauty and heritage that has evolved and maintained over the period of time
served as an core resource.
Doge's Palace, Saint Mark's Basilica and Rialto bridge is termed as some of the
attractions for Venice to become one of the global destination.
CONCLUSION
From the above presentation on tourism destination it has been concluded that there are
number of global destinations that are emerging in that tourism industry. Each destination is
available with some features and characteristics which acts as an attraction for that particular
destination. Core resources available on destinations become important for improving tourism
for particular destination.
TASK 2
GLOBAL DESTINATION MANAGEMENT
Destination management is termed as one of the important tool in the tourism industry. It helps
in coordinating all the elements of destination so that visit to destination can be made in best
suitable manner. Attractions, amenities, access, marketing and pricing are managed to generate
good amount of experience. In simple terms destination management is defined as all the
actions taken in order to coordinate actions to control the economic, social and and
environmental destinations.
The role played by destination management in development of sustainable tourism is highly
important. It ensures various visitors or tourists to ensure that in long run different amount of
benefits will be generated. Key benefits of destination management is that all the arrange4ments
requited while travelling is performed under this. Planning of the event which lies to the third
party are arranges as per convenience of the tourist and journey is made more suitable and
conformable. Managers who perform destination management services possess extensive
knowledge of destination and places that needs to be travel in near area. Suggestions made by
destination manager are quite important in order to ensure that best quality and suitable services
