INTRODUCTION
Information and communication technology is basically acknowledged as the medium of
education which is being by individuals for communicating and sharing information with one
another in order to support and optimise the core delivery of the data. ICT play very essential
role in the education system as it makes it easier for the students to approach effective teaching
methods from where they can grab maximum information and score good marks (Blount, 2020).
Some of the common tools of ICT which are used in the education systems are computers,
internets, Desktop and laptops, tablets, Pen Drive, Projector, Digital cameras, Interactive
teaching box, telephones and other telecommunications products etc. The present report
provides detailed knowledge on the several roles of the information and communication
technology in education. It further describes the core importance of the information and
communication technology in education as well as for the students. Last but not the least few
recommendations would be provided in the last sections through which information and
communication technology can be effectively used by students in the higher education and future
growth in the quicker manner.
Role of information and communication technology in education
Information and communication technology is becoming essential part of today’s
education system which is contributing a lot in the learning of the students in rightful manner. It
has also been seen that ICT can be considered as the effective product which owns capability of
the recovering, storing, manipulating and retrieving data into digital format (Chetty and White,
2019). Along with this, it has been further analysed that ICT in education has highly supported in
increasing information accessibility across the nation and allows students in gathering
information on the proposed topic effectively in best feasible form. Here, it can be further said
that several devices such as are computers, internets, Desktop and laptops, tablets, Pen Drive,
Projector, Digital cameras, Interactive teaching box, telephones and other telecommunications
products etc. are used by the students as well as teachers for accessing information and having
communication with one another. It simply develops range of opportunity for the learners as
interacting learning is taking place which is motivating students at extensive level. It also
embraces the creativity as well as self expression that enhances outcome of the education system
in rightful manner (Dinnar and Susskind, 2018). Apart from this, it has been analysed that there

be noticed in the today’s time are specified as below:
Easy access to information
The core role of the ICT in education is that it increases better access to the information.
It has been seen that the students are no longer required to stick to the books and find them in the
library in order to attain required information rather than this the students can directly acquire
what so ever medium is available to them for gathering information on the proposed topic. This
simply states that the students can easily access to information in very less period of time and
find out information quickly (Dyer, Gregersen and Christensen, 2019). Also, the students also
get range of options towards the same topic and they can easily determine the best information as
per their core requirement. In addition to this, it can be further said that the easy access towards
the information directly encourages students to indulge into the learning process by taking self
initiatives. In addition to this, it also eliminates the hurdles of the learning and directly provides

teachers more confident about their subject area as they can effectively make use of the others

well as students which ultimately develops motivation among them to attain expertise in the

ICT has directly increased communication among the students as they are able to
communicate with the proposed person in rightful manner. Here, it has been analysed that in the
past time teachers were not able to communicate with the students who are present in the class
but in today’s time these teachers could have direct interaction with the student with the medium
of any of the possible tool (Gbadegeshin, 2018). Whereas, if it is talked about the students, it can
be said that they can easily approach to the proposed person or the teacher in order to clear out
their issues regarding tests, projects, or assignments and get feedback in quicker manner. This
clearly depicts the improved communication among the learner increases with the rise in the
level of interaction among them with one another.
Access to training for teachers
It is highly important for the teachers to update their knowledge as well as understanding
on several topics related to their subject area or the general topics so that they can teach students
in better manner. In this regard, the main role of the ICT is that it allows teachers to become the
part of several online training programs (Greenwood, 2018). It can be further said that the
teachers can effectively select the time of training sessions according to their availability or the
vacant time. Also, at the same time usage of the information and communication technology
makes the teaching process quite simpler as it reduces the efforts placed by the teachers in the
learning process of the students. This simply makes it easier for the teachers to take out time for
their self learning as well as development. Also, this saved time can be used by them in
improvising their teaching practices that is supportive in providing quality education to the
students and improvising overall education system in rightful manner.
How information and communication technology is important for students
Information and communication technology is highly important for me as well as others
students while attaining higher education at university level. It has been analysed that inclusion
of the ICT tool in the learning process has helped me a lot at higher education as it was highly
important for me to focus on developing my own understanding towards the subjective areas but
at the same time as being the average student it was highly difficult for me go after all the
textbooks and then develop my knowledge regarding the same in order to attain satisfactory level
of grades. In this case, ICT tools have helped me a lot as with the usage of these technological
tools my overall interest in the study remain constant. Also, usage of ICT tools have directly

motivated to spent more hours in the learning process. As a result, I have attained good marks in
the schools. Also, the learning developed by me with ICT was quite simpler also I got to know
tactics with which I have had cleared my basic concepts and prepared myself towards the future
learning. Apart from this, if it is talked about the importance of information and communication
technology for other students it can be said that this directly develops interest of the students
among the learning process as it helps out in making their learning process quite simpler and
comfortable. In addition to this, it has been further analysed that with the help of the modern
learning methods students are easily able to access to more information in the less time
(Karabon, 2019). Also, students are able to clear their doubts with the lecturer or the specific
authority at the same time which directly allows them to take feedback on their performance too.
As a result, these students are able to maximise their learning process effectively. In addition to
this, it can be further said that ICT directly promotes collaborative learning among the students
which enhances number of growth opportunities’ for them. At the same time, it also develops
higher-order thinking skills among the students as they are getting chance to open up their mind
and attain success in the future with more broader vision.
Recommendations on how information and communication technology can better be use by
higher education students.
On the basis of overall information expressed in the current project, it can be said that at one
end information and communication technology develops huge number of learning opportunity
for the students as it makes the learning process quite easier but at the same time it might work in
the negative manner too as it might distract the learners with its additional features too
(Krukowski, 2019). In order to make use of Information and communication technology tools
and techniques in effective manner, few recommendations are provided to the teachers so that
students can use ICT in better manner. These recommendations are specified as below in detailed
manner:
 At first, it is advised to the students to provide appropriate training to the students with
which they can easily develop their understanding on the several beneficial technological
tools which ultimately maximises their knowledge.
 Also, few training session must be conducted for the students as well as teachers which
can provide appropriate guidance to them regarding overall usage of several ICT tools

along its importance in several areas (Mejía-Arauz, Rogoff, Dayton and Henne-Ochoa,
2018).
 The teachers are also required to block specific sites that might distract students in their
learning process. By doing so effectively students won’t be able to reach them and won’t
get affected in their overall learning process.
 Last but not the least, teachers are also required to focus on developing groups via
technological medium where they can easily share information with the students related
to the new technological oriented tool that could be embrace their overall learning
sessions in rightful manner.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of the information specified in the above project, it has been analysed that is
basically considered as the diversified set of the technological tools as well as resources that are
being adopted for creating, storing, managing and communicating information in effective
manner. Some of the common tools of ICT which are used in the education systems are
computers, internets, Desktop and laptops, tablets, Pen Drive, Projector, Digital cameras,
Interactive teaching box, telephones and other telecommunications products etc. It has been later
analysed that ICT is highly important for the students as it makes their learning quite simpler as
well as interesting. As a result, they are able to study effectively and become scholar in the
academics. Lastly, it has been identified that it is highly important for the students to make an
effective schedule regarding the use of the information and communication technology as there
are probable chances of getting distracted with the same.
