For becoming effective manager individual have appropriate management skills.
Management skills is important in organisation as well as in day to day life. I have several skill,
that are described as below:
ï‚· Motivation skills- It is an essential skill of mine. Motivation drives people to deliver best
of their performance. Motivation can be categorise into two types; one is financially and
other one is emotionally. By financially, manager can motivate the employees by
rewarding them for achieving any task or organisational goal. By emotionally, some kind
words of appreciation is enough to motivate the employees. It can be done by manager by
giving a round of applauds (Ang and Van Dyne, 2015).
ï‚· Building relationship skills: I can build healthy relationship with consumers and
employees.. A manager should be kind and thoughtful towards the subordinates and build
relationship with them personally as well as professionally.
ï‚· Conflict resolution skill: I have good conflict resolution skill. Management is concerned
with the work done by subordinates in discipline. Manger's quality is to balancing the
work and discipline in the organisation as well as dealing with conflicts effectively.

SWOT analysis is essential for analysing personal ability and strength of performing task
in organisation and also knowing about the weaknesses and improvising them. The analysis of
SWOT is for analysing the personal strength, weaknesses and with that analysing the upcoming
opportunity from the capability as well as threats (Ward, 2016).
Strength:
1. As a manager I have well understanding and knowledge of my role being assigned in
organisation and ability to work in the organisational criteria.
2. I have strength of building personal motivating relationship with subordinates which is
important for an effective working environment of the hotel.

3. I am less critical and more of suggestive nature as a manager should be. A manager
should of quick and effective decision maker and able to suggest the right decision at
right time at right place.
4. As in the role of manager, I have the quality of motivating the employees to achieving the
organisational objective in discipline (Bolden, 2016).
Weaknesses:
1. I Personally required some serious training for improvement in my skills.
2. My nature of availability to the subordinates can impact negatively in the personal and
professional life.
Opportunities:
1. By effective use of technology and management skills in hospitality industry such as
Hotel Marriott for making process of delivering services more speedy.
2. I am looking forwards for a career in hospitality industry; hence Marriott would be a
great opportunity to exploring my manager skills and use them effectively to the hotel.
Threats:
1. The internal analysis of competition with the job positions being similar is a threat for me
as a manager.
2. There are different external factors which can affect job seekers like me while searching
new work. As my family is acting like a barrier that is why I am unable to find a new job.
2.3 Setting and prioritising objectives and targets to develop own potential
For setting and prioritizing objectives and targets as well as achieve something
substantial, proper planning is required.
Objectives
I have set some objectives and targets for me which I would like to achieve as a perspective
manager of Marriott. To meet essential organisational objective it is important to analyse what
should be done entire day. The objectives and targets can achieve in the stipulated time by hard
work and dedication. Following are some objectives and targets which will help in to develop my

with their best capabilities. For better leading a leader must understand the organisational goals
first. Leader cannot efficiently lead his team unless he has understood organisational culture and
its values.
A leader can help his team to achieve an agreed goals and objectives if he has an ability
to covert individual’s goals of his team members into organisational goals and objectives by
interrelating them with each other (Ramazani and Jergeas, 2015).
Team leader of Marriott should appreciate his team members for their good performance
so that they could motivate for performing with more efficiency. Leader should have positive
attitude so that he can positively project a positive attitude to his team which is essential for their
better performance.
Marriott team leaders have a good communication quality which enables them to make a

Team leader of Marriott have ability to divide team's objective and distribute them among
his team members according to their capabilities. It helps the team members in better performing
the task as they are working as per their capabilities. Leader has to continuously take feedback
from employees, this will make them positive and will help in fulfilling their needs. This would
support in encouraging people and making them positive towards brand.
Team leaders should perform training programme time to time to develop skills of his
team members. Team leader of Marriott perform this task frequently and hence they work for
enhancement of capabilities of their team members to make them more efficient.
3.2 Justify managerial decisions made to support achievement of agreed goal or objective and
recommendations for improvements
No matter whether it is private limited company or any government organisation,
managerial decision plays an important role in achieving goals of the organisation. In Marriott
mangers take several decisions relating to implementation of any new policy, data review, new
ideas generation, evaluation of several course of actions, etc. all the decisions taken by the
management directly influences the results of company. Therefore, every decision take by them
must be taken very carefully (Ward, 2016).
Before taking any managerial decision, managers should have a great understanding of
the organisational goals. It will help them to set the objectives for members of company
efficiently for achieving organisational goals. Manager of Marriott hotel should give training to
its staff managers. This will helps in raising skills of employees. By this way people will perform
their work effectively.
Managers of Marriott have a good understanding about the culture of the organisation.
Manager should improve workplace culture, this will encourage others and make them
comfortable in business. Culture of organisation includes capabilities of members, their
individual values as well as organisational values, knowledge and skill of members and they
make their decision accordingly which helps the members to work as per their skills and it leads
to better achievement of goals (Liu and et.al., 2016).
For making members to work more efficiently it is most important that they are not
feeling suffocated towards their work. Managers should not overrule the members. Managers
should give them freedom to decide how they want to perform their task. It will increase their
desire for work and they will also get motivated for achieving set goals.

In above stated ways managerial will help more effectively in supporting achievement of
set goals and objectives of the Marriott (Smith, 2014).
4.1 Explain how own managerial and personal skills will support career development
I have a positive attitude towards his work first as unless the manager is having a positive
attitude, he can not bring a positivity in his subordinates. If the manager wants to achieve
organisational goals he need to create a positive environment within the whole organisation.
I being a Managers of Marriott are having good communication skills it results in better
understanding his co-workers as well as his subordinates. When a manager has a good
communication skill, he can take the best decision for the company which is good for his career.
And also when a manager has a good communication with his subordinates, it helps me in
transferring all the necessary information with them easily, and help the subordinate to better
understand all the information transferred. Which will help them in performing more efficiently
for their task which automatically support in their career development.
I have skill to motivate the employees of company to work in a team. As when a task is
performed in a team, it results in completion of task more efficiently. Which brings more career
development opportunity of workers in the company (Managerial And Personal Skills
Supporting Career Development, 2016).
I am having supportive nature, it will make employees more comfortable to share any
problem with them. It will bring more feedback towards the managerial decisions which will
help the manager to take more efficient decision for the company which will bring development
in career.
I have a skill to create a healthy environment between himself and the rest of the
employees of company, it will result in bringing more transparency in their relation. It will lead
to create a healthy culture within the organisation. A healthy culture of the organisation always
brings great results in the performance of all the employees whether he is the manager or other
employees. Healthy culture will help the employees and managers of the company to work more
efficiently which will develop their career opportunity automatically.
