1THE TELL-TALE HEART Repetition is one of the literary devices that Poe has used often in his work. One of the famous works of the American writer isThe Tell-Tale Heart. The paper aims to discuss the way Poe uses the repetition in the story and the reason for him using this literary tool along with its impact on the readers and his success regarding the use of this literary tool. The use of repetition throughout the story was to create suspense effectively. To describe the "with what caution- without what foresight" the narrator uses repetition that was used to spy on the old man with "evil eye" (Poe) The repetition is majorly used in order to create suspense however it leaves the readers wondering about the old man desiring to convince others about his sanity. Readers are compelled to question if the narrator is sane in his mind (Caracciolo 67). The poet is successful in his art of creating suspense through the literary tool as it can be observed that the readers are certainly curious and perplexed with the use of repetition. Also, it adds to the story's mood and creating the environment.
