2.1 The function of government,government sponsored bodies
and international agencies in travel and tourism
The place of government is an essential and multi part of side of
travel and tourism industry,affecting policies.
State involvement in the trade is a reasonably recent lead for
central government .
In general the state observes that the duties of the public sector
must cover such matters as health,safety,fair trading and customer
interests and infrastructure in transport such as roads,railways and
ports.
There is a mixed record in the condition of leisure facilities,
environmental protection and conservation which affects duties
for the different cultural heritage,an important section of Europe's
visitor attractions.

The state tourism agency,tourist board of government department will have an
important role to play in advising on the strategy,offering opportunities to consult
and cooperate with a despread private sector and preparing a destination marketing
strategy based on an identification of the appropriate markets and their requirements
and wishes.
Based on periodic surveys of the government role of by the WTO, the OECD and
individual countries, the principle functions of a ministry of tourism or of agencies
under government control can be analysed as : Research, statistics and planning,
Marketing, Development of tourism resources, Regulation, including trade
regulation,training and education, facilitation, liberalization.
International organizations : There are many of international organizations both
government and non government with travelling interests. Government section
reflect the national governments interest in and political regarding,tourism
intervention. In the industrialized countries.
