INTRODUCTION
The meaning of motivation tends to consists of the motive which means needs, desires, dries
or the wants that exists within the individuals. Thus, the motivation tends to comprises of the
psychological factors that stimulate and direct the human behaviour towards better performance
and efficiency level (LaBombard, 2022). The current essay writing is based on the topic of

of analysis of various motivation theory such as two factor theory and Maslow need hierarchy
theory. Along with this, the rising need and importance of motivation at workplace is also
discussed based on there application within the modern workplace.

Motivation tend to reflects and present about the process that initiates, guides and support
the maintenance of a goal oriented behaviour within the individuals. Thus, motivation become a
vital and important aspect for every business organisation that ensures higher efficiency and
derives improved performance along with ensuring timely meeting of the set objectives. The
most commonly used and vital set of the motivation theory comprises of the Maslow’s hierarchy
of needs theory of motivation and Herzberg’s two factor theory (Amini and Daulay, 2022). The
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs tend to provide a systematic and sequence wise arrangement and
identification of all the needs and desires of an individual the fulfilment and meeting of which
would drive and lead to higher motivation in employees. Beside this, the Maslow’s hierarchy of
needs theory is based on the fact that people always looking for have increase and betterment
from what they want to achieve in life. Thus, the application and use of the Maslow Need
hierarchy theory lead to setting the priority and importance of each needs and desires of the
employees that tend to relive around the basic wants of employees and bring and lead them to the
reasonable degree of satisfaction. The five categories of needs given by the Maslow’s hierarchy
of needs theory comprise of the physiological needs of the employees which tend to includes the
basic wants of employees that is vital for living and survival such as food, shelter, clothing
(Shore, Prena and Cummings, 2022). The next want identified as per the Maslow’s hierarchy of

needs theory is safety and security needs which comprises of the physical protection of the
employees of by the way of providing and leading out a safe and healthy workplace environment
to employees Further, the third needs that need to be meet and fulfilled as per the Maslow’s
hierarchy of needs of motivation is social needs that reflects about the association with others in
form of positive workplace relationship. Further, esteem needs are also deriving the employees
towards higher motivation by the way of receiving acknowledgement from others for their good
performance and efficiency level. Finally, the last and top most need identified by the Maslow’s
hierarchy of needs theory comprises of the self-actualisation needs which reflects the desire for
accomplishment or to leave behind a legacy based on achieving the full potential of an employee
(Louick and Muenks, 2022).
Further, the another important and vital theory of motivation tend to includes and
comprises of the Herzberg’s two factor theory that is also known as the Motivator and hygiene
theory. It has been believed by the Herzberg that there are several factors at workplace that tend
to have the significant impact on the motivation level of the employees that has been broadly
divided into two categories i.e. motivator and hygiene. Hygiene factors are the elements of a job
that satisfy basic needs of the employees such as the security, pay, fairness, and working
conditions. It has been seen and analsysed that when these hygiene needs are met, employees
tend to have feel more comfortable and satisfied with their roles as the Salary and benefits
supports the monetary funds to meet the basic needs along with supporting better standards of
life through better pay and insurance (Nikulina and Wynstra, 2022). Further, the Job security
represent the amount of control that the employer has over keeping the position filled. Apart
from this, the work environment as well as job policies and supervision also tend to have a
significant impact on the motivation of employees as a stress free environment and clean and
healthy workplace supports better performance. Further, the Herzberg motivators factors tend to
comprises and includes of the key job elements that motivate people to stay and grow in a role.
Thus, when these motivational needs are not fulfilled, the project team may become dissatisfied
with their jobs thus their presence are important to ensure better growth of employees in a
professionally manner along with learn new skills, or manage greater responsibilities. The key
motivator factor includes of Achievement which supports a sense of accomplishment at the end
of a project or task along with Recognition for accomplishments in form a raise, promotion, or
important assignment. Beside this, job advancement also with higher variety and responsibility

together with independence are also the vital motivator factors that support higher motivation in
employees. Along with this, higher personal development through leading opportunity to upskill
by learning new skills, improving existing ones, and attaining certifications along with positive
Interpersonal relationships through build long-term relationships are also lead to higher
motivation in employees (Ganesh, Ndulue and Orji, 2022).
In the modern workplace where organization are working in a dynamic environment where a
high level of competition and other challenges are being present it become vital and essential to
have a motivated workforce to ensure the higher retention and performance level of the
employees. It has been seen and reviewed that the theories of the motivation are linked and lead
to the serving of the satisfaction level of employees to drive higher performance and efficiency
level. Therefore, now a day every business organisation is being looking for having proper
application and use of the theory of motivation to drive higher performance and efficiency level
at its workplace (Liu and et. al., 2022). There are two main types of motivation that derives
employees towards better performance consists of the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation which
are tend to meet and identified based on use and application of the motivation theory. For
instance, the managers of the Tesco tend to make use of the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory
to ensure proper identification of all each and every need of its employees in order to effectively
fulfil them to derive higher motivation and performance level at its workplace (Basnet, Eyaa and
Okhawere, 2022). All the basic needs of employees comprise of food, shelter, cloths, etc. are
being meet by Tesco by the way of offering a good salary and pay to its employees to maintain a
better quality if life. Along with this, high job security as well as the positive workplace
relationship based on effective communication and regular guidance for employees is also being
provided and implicated by the Tesco. Beside this, self-esteem as well as self-acquisitions needs
of the employees are also meet by Tesco by the way of ensuring regular training and
development of employees to give higher opportunity to have continuous improvement in their
skill and knowledge level in order to meet the highest level of their potential that supports higher
success and performance level for Tesco. Apart from this, application of two factor theory is also
being made within many organizations to support a more motivated and efficient workplace. For
instance, the Aston martin tend to meet the both hygiene as well as the motivator factors of its
employees by the way of supporting a clean and safe workplace along with higher achievement
and regular recognition of employees (Shore, Prena and Cummings, 2022). It has been analsysed

that Aston martin tend to have an effective workplace where all equipment’s and machines are
maintained in proper manner to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment along with
leading better supervision and guidance for employees to have higher motivation level at its
workplace which reflect effective application of hygiene factors. Besides this, use of regular
rewards and performance based perks has been also made by the Aston martin to meet the
extrinsic and monetary needs of employees along with supporting higher motivation for
improved performance (Louick and Muenks, 2022).

On the basis of current essay, a conclusion can be made that the concept of motivation is
tend to be related and associated with the process of the stimulating and influencing the actions
of the people in order to effective accomplish and achieve a pre –determined goals. Further, it
has been summarised that use of various motivation theory such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
theory and two factor theory is being made by organisation to have a more motivated and
positive workplace to ensure higher performance level. Further, based on current essay, a
recommendation about the making use of regular training and development programmes along
with performance based perks could be made for business organization to have higher motivation
and satisfaction level in employees to support better achievement of organisational goals.
