Theories of teaching and learning
Learning and teaching are 2 main aspect of life which makes an individual able to be in
this competitive era and prove themselves. For teaching and learning well there are some
theories which can make it easier in learning new things such as:
Cognitive learning: In this theory, knowledge system can be constructed by students and all
learners on their pre-existing cognitive structure. Learner set their own objectives and goals in
order to motivate and put themselves towards learning (Learning Theories, 2019).
It is also a theory of teaching in which teachers try to link concepts of study together and
for making students understand in more detail they link study concept to real world examples
and discussion as well.
Constructive: It is other main important theory of learning and teaching in which learners
construct new ideas based on their knowledge which they posses already and their existing
experience. By reflecting own skills, knowledge and experience they find out ways of learning as
well as resolving misconceptions (Akdeniz and et.al., 2016).
In the context of teaching, it can be said that teacher uses problem based teaching and
focus on group presentation for increasing their teaching skills and making students able to learn
in an effective manner.
Humanism
It is other main approach or theory of learning and teaching in which learning is seen as a
personal act in order to fulfil potential. In this learning theory, it is stated that for teaching and
learning in an efficient manner it is important to study a person as a whole because people have
natural willingness or eagerness to learn (McInerney and Green-Thompson, 2020).
