Report on Modelling Process of Wiper Motor_1
IntroductionA wiper motor is a useful accessory in car, whose work is to operate the motion of the windshield wiper. Wipers do the work of cleaning the windshield, thus provides an unobstructed view to the driver in any weather. The forth and back motion of the wiper is regulated by the electric motor attached at one end of the wiper. back motion of the wiper is regulated by the electric motorHow does the Windshield Wiper work?have their motion and this motor is termed as WipertorAs stated above, wipers need a motor to have their motion and this motor is termed as Wiper Motor.A link is used which converts the rotational movement received by the motor to the back and forthmotion of wiper. A worm gear is used, which controls the force delivered by the wiper motor so thatthe speed is decreased by 50 times and torque is multiplied by 50 times. The type of wiper motor generally used is permanent-magnet direct current type. It has a three-brushstructure, which makes changing speed more convenient. A worm gear attached on the armature shaftis used to drive the output shaft and gear connected through an idler shaft and gear. The output shaftcontrols the output arm, which is turn, is connected to the wiper linkage. As the output arm revolvedby the motor, the linkage starts to move in a back and forth motion.Resistors controls the speed of the motor, which can be located either on or in control switch, andattached to the wiper motor electrical windings. Control switch provides a mean to direct the currentto the motor across certain circuits. Wiper linkage is always the same, regardless the type of motorused. Wiper linkage is always the same, regardless the type of motor used.Assembly of Wiper motor Assembly of wiper motor mainly consists of following parts same, regardless the type of motor used1.Motor housing: It is a cylinder shaped housing opened at one end to inhabit other assemblycomponents. It is a cylinder shaped housing opened at one end to inhabit other assembly2.Armature: It is the main component which is used to produce power in an electric motor. Itconverts the electrical power received in the circuit to the mechanical power. 3.Gear housing: As the name suggests, it is a housing got the ring gear present in the assembly.4.Ring gear: This gear is used to provide the final movement out of the wiper motor. It isconnected with the gear on the armature, and takes up the mechanical output generated by it.i5.Electrical Plug: Plug to give current in the motor circuit. It can be located either on the top ofgear casing or attached at a little distance from the whole assembly. either on the top ofgear casing or attached at a little distance from the whole assembly.

Name the part as cylinder and press ‘Ok’. Now to start sketching on the ‘xy plane’, select ‘xy plane’from component tree and start sketching on it. The sketch window will look like below. Create the geometry as per the below dimensions by using the line and arc option and also fillet someedges as per the below geometry. dimensions by using the line and arc option and also fillet some
