2 ASSESSMENT 5Task One: Inclusion Plan Taya is a 3-year old girl who only shows gestures when asked or required to interactwith others. She mostly remains quite throughout the class; do not show interests ininteracting with her friends and teachers. Thus, she is facing learning difficulties out of non-verbal barrier. This barrier may have arisen due to language or communication issues,which is common at this young age. Moreover, she has been found suffering from physicalchallenge, stammering, preventing her from interacting freely with her peers. Afterconsultation with the workplace supervisor of the childcare unit, Taya has been selected todevelop, implement and monitor a plan for support and inclusion.

Adetailed observation on Taya showedthat she exhibits consistent shybehaviour. For Taya, normaleveryday interaction with the peersand the adult family members seemalmost impossible. The level ofshyness is creating barrier in socialdevelopment and overallmerrymaking in pre-school. Tayaseldom interact voluntarily andrefuse to respond to her teachersduring the class. However, Tayafollow the directions but do notrespond to those instructionsverbally. At times she was foundmaking gestures on behalf ofspeaking.Shyness is a normal problem faced bythe toddlers, this shyness may ariseout of lack of confidence, fear ininteracting with the unknown peopleand inability to speak properly in rightascent1. Difficulties with speakingfluently are a common problem withchild between 2 to 4 years of age. Incase of Taya, the learning difficultarising out of non-verbal barrier ismostly due to stammering2. Hereshyness is making the child self-conscious and this self-consciousnessis making Taya to stammer. Theunderlying cause behind Taya’sstammering has not been clearlyunderstood.
