REFLECTIVE JOURNAL2 Reflective journal Introduction Reflection According to (Easterby and Cunliffe 2017) reflection can be defined as a mental process or a component of thinking that can be used in achieving a specific outcome. It is as well supported by ( Ikeda, Osada, and Kasai, Tokyo Electron 2015.) whose primary objective is a certain reaching conclusion. The purpose of this reflection is to reach a specific ground within my profession in which part A of the piece will constitute time management and part B the delivering of the PowerPoint. Part A Time management Managing time is a skill which every individual must possess. In order to make a quality presentation in front of the class, the aspect of time management should be given the priority (Il- Hyun, Kim, and Yoon,2015). Time is one of the scarce and precious resources and must be judiciously utilised in achieving the set goals. Hence, it's crucial how one should set time during the delivering a presentation. For example, it was challenging for me when communicating with various people since I thought it could not be possible to finish the present in time. I faced some challenges like how to engage the individuals in the group which made me worried about the present day (Prpić, Shukla, Kietzmann and McCarthy, 2015). . At first, splitting, communication and beginning the task was the major problem in my group. Thus, bringing the idea of research on the benefits of the crowdsourcing.
REFLECTIVE JOURNAL3 In a group presentation, time management can be shown in form two types of skills. The first skills the capability of being an orator and the other ability is being the handler. Therefore, there was a need for putting our ideas across and proving we were proficient speakers as well (Castaings, Lhomme, Trigui, and Bouscayrol, 2016). To meet this quality, we had to practice in advance which was not possible since we could not respond physically. This is because I find it dull in expressing my opinion face to face which is more fast and efficient. At the start, I was feeling so stressed since we were not able to meet and discuss our program. I believe the other members of the group experienced the same confusion and stress concerning the deadline that was near when we had not even done the research (LaToza, and van der Hoek 2016). According to (Nejabatkhah and Li, 2015) the stress and chaos are due to our perception, but the good news is that this perception is something that can be controlled. I had to change my prior opinion of waiting for my colleagues to do something and this helped to eliminate in future frustrations associated with the group work. Part 2 Presentation day The day came, and we had to present the work in the group of three individuals. The presentation wasbasedonthecrowdsourcingandthewholethingbeganbydescribingwhatthe crowdsourcing was all about. My role was to discuss the benefits of the BYOD alternative. This is what my presentation partners had chosen. In the beginning, we had to do a few slides on the characteristics of the crowdsourcing. This seemed like my very first presentation because I was very much terrified. Once again, I was very fascinated especially when I was introducing slide four which contained the advantages of the crowdsourcing as cheap and faster. Speaking in
REFLECTIVE JOURNAL4 public is one of my greatest fear which is higher than even death. The first thing I tried to do was to focus to the audience rather than myself. It seemed like something unusual, but I imagined if I was the one listening hence decided to focus on what was impressing the audience and hold their attention. I had already programmed myself to speak fewer words and make some jokes which would make the audience laugh a little at the beginning to take away some of my jitters. This day I discovered speaking in public was such stressful especially when I realised some of the individuals might get bored during my presentation. The way I delivered the fourth advantages, made me feel nervous and stressed. I remember starting reading from some of the small vital notes rather than elaborating whatever was in the slides. I found it very difficult to make a public presentation especially when you do not know English as your native language. I could not imagine how some of the speakers viewed my presentation as many of them were used to this. In the past, I had tracked the number of speakers who made the display as if it were such a simple thing. If I was asked, this could be one of my worst presentations because it looked fun to talk about it. Conclusion During the presentation, I was very nervous, but the whole experience has taught me some things. For instance, time factor as one of the most scarce and precious resources which any individual can in utilise in achieving specific goals. Secondly, have been able to learn that stress and confusion are there to shape individuals on how to survive and not to cause any harm. From these experiences, I have to change my past perception of waiting for my colleagues to do something. This will eliminate future frustrations associated with the group work. I chose never to remain for other individuals but to involve the rest from the very first day of such project.
