TITLE2
Question 1
With the help of diagram/s, explain the concept of cell splitting.
ANSWER:
Cell splitting may be defined as a procedure of dividing overfilled cells into much
smaller connected cells, which will possess different positions regarding the base station. The
cell splitting is done to provide the cells with the compatibility of the reduced height of
antenna as well as reduced power of transmitters (Hiltunen & Hagerman, 2015). Thus, it
increases the ability of the system as the divided cells can perform the tasks easily and
strengthens the channel of this type of cellular structure and reuse them as well.
There are mainly two types of cell splitting technologies that are used in the
contemporary implementation, first being the permanent cell splitting as well as dynamic cell
splitting. In the method of permanent cell, splitting the overall planning is done beforehand
when actually the split cell is implemented. The frequencies that are assigned such as the
power of transmitter, the load of traffic are the factors that are considered for the splitting of
cells, while the implementation of the dynamic cell splitting is a difficult task. The utilization
of the spectrum as well as the traffic load are done in accordance with the dynamic cell
splitting.
