CHAPTER 1:INTRODUCTIONIntroductionOffshore service centre are those which are situated outside the the country.Theemployees who are working in odd hours in the offshore service centre have to face variousproblems and they feel depressed.It also leads to increase in employee turnover for the companydue to working in the odd hours.In this research, it will provide understanding about the impactof the working in odd hours on the work life balance for the employees working in the offshoreservice centre. The research will include the literature review which will assist in identifyingthe views of authors regarding this problem. It will include the research methods for conductingthis research in the effective and efficient manner. This research will include, the discussion ontopic in which it will take into considering views of different authors on the basis of which thesolution to the problems will be identified. The research methodology will be used forconducting the research through which the information regarding research topic will identifiedthrough the different sources and will be analysed by using the techniques.BackgroundThe work life balance is greatly affected due to working in odd hours in offshore servicecentre. The employees who are working in these type of companies have to face variousproblems which influence their life and also, they feel demotivated and thus lack interest inworking in that type of company.The offshore service centres are located outside the countryand thus people working in offshore service centres are not able to enjoy their personal life andhamper the mental condition of the person and they are not able to reduce their fatigue level.Toassess the impact of working in odd hours on the work life balance in offshore service centretopic is chosen for the research because it will help the company which are located in offshore toidentify the factors which affect their work life balance. This research will help in understandingthe problems which are associated with the companies which are situated at offshore due towhich the employees have to work in the odd hours which have great impact on the person andwork life. It will provide understanding of the impact of working in odd hours on the employeesworking in offshore service centre which will assist in identifying the ways to improve theirsatisfaction level and provide ways to motivate the employees to work in odd hours.
The offshore service centre is situated outside the country and due to this reason, thereare differences in the working hours. The topic is regarding the problems which are being facedby the employees who are working in offshore service centre due to which their mental andphysical health is affected to the great extent. This topic is important because there have beenincrease in the employee turnover for the firms which are working as offshore service centre andin order to provide them with the solution regarding this problem this research will be conducted.The topic is related to impact of working in odd hours on the employees which means theemployees who are working more than the specified hours which affect their work – life balanceas they are not able to perform their different activities due to working in the offshore servicecentre.The research will help in understanding the factors which have their great impact on thework – life balance of the employees working in odd hours. With the help of this research, theoffshore service centre will be able to identify the reason for the demotivation to the employeesand can adopt the various motivational strategies which will helps the firm in motivating theemployees to work in offshore service centre and provide them with the time to balance betweenthe work and life.The Employees working in odd hours have to face various problems which have a greatimpact on their mental health due to which they are not able to concentrate on their work.Withthe help of identification of the factors which have a great influence on the employee satisfactionlevel then the firms involved in offshore business will be able to understand their employeesconcern on the basis of which they will take to motivate the employees.The employees work-life balance is affected due to working in the odd hours and thus this topic is important for theresearch studies which will help the firms and the researcher to identify the challenges and thefactors which are associated with the odd working hours and their impact on the employee’ssatisfaction level. The shift work increases the chances of having the mental problems to theemployees. The organisation with the help of identifying the impact of working in the odd hourswill be able to make modification in the time for working hours in order to motivate theemployees to perform their job activities and have a balance between their work and life. Thework life balance of the employees is affected by the odd working hours due to which theemployee turnover of firm will be reduced. It can be by taking steps in order to motivate theemployees to retain them in business for the longer period.
