TITLE:
To Investigate The Feasibility Of Bus Rapid System In The United Arab Emirates.
Literature Review
A literature review is a scholarly paper, that involves the present knowledge involving
substantive findings, as well as theoretical and methodological contributions to a particular topic.
This section is effective in providing an in-depth analysis on the chosen area of study and also
supports the learning of investigator by addressing the selected research issue in appropriate
manner (Alkaabi, Dissanayake and Bird, 2011). This is the second and most essential aspect of
the research thus it helps in developing a theoretical framework by analysing the perspective of
various authors and writers who are having appropriate amount of idea and knowledge in regards
to the selected area of study. This part is effective in accumulation or relevant or reliable
information through secondary sources like books, journals, newspapers, published scholars,
articles etc. In this past research project also plays significant role in accumulation of wide range
of data and information. This present exploration work is based on the analysis of The
Feasibility Of Bus Rapid System In The United Arab Emirates. This is wide area of research on
which researcher has to provide imminent focus in regards to gathering reliable data through
different perspective of authors and in this majorly information is being gathered through scholar
papers.
The issues that cause traffic congestion.
Traffic Congestion is considered as a condition on transport network which occurs as the
use increases or is defined through slow speed, increased vehicle queueing and longer trip times.
Transportation has become a major challenge has a huge influence on a country or its operations.
UAE is majorly known for its crowded roads or traffic. Due to population margin a country faces
issues regarding traffic. Traffic is a problem that has still not been resolved. Thus the Busy roads
within UAE create a lot of issues for the people or society (D'Andrea and et. al., 2015).
Resolving the traffic congestion is very much needed in the UAE for providing easy and relevant
transpiration facilities. High congestions on major roads around Dubai caused up to half an hour
delays to early morning commute at daily basis. Dubai residents have been experiencing heavy
traffic jams due to the rush hours since schools resumed classes this month, after a long summer
break. The Dubai Police has issued an advisory on social media, reminding motorists to drive

slow when passing through school zones (Cipriani, Gori and Petrelli, 2012). The country has
faces the issue of heavy traffic due to high emergence of vehicles. Traffic congestion majorly
results when there are various vehicles for the available road spaces. It may arises on almost any
road systems, but in general, it is basically to be experienced through greatest severity in and
around the potential employment nodes like wise the central business district at the time duration
of morning and afternoon peaks. As per the opinion of Angel Tesorero, 2016, Motorists and
commuters proceed to brace themselves for traffic James as the weather cools down in Dubai.
The regular working schedule of people within Dubai has always been a perennial issue and the
usual bottleneck areas at the time of peak. The issue of traffic can easily be attributed to Dubai's
accelerative population and congestion. As per the detailed analysis of Dubai traffic, for every
two Dubai residents, there is one car and this creates the congestion index which is relatively
higher than or related to some of the most congested cities in the globe. According to the
estimation of road and transportation authority (RTA), The major reason for traffic or congestion
within Dubai is high density of vehicle, thus the overall vehicle density of 540 cars per 1000
person, which considered as the highest in the region and one of the highest in the whole world
(Islam, M. M. and Al Hadhrami, A., 2012). The figure of vehicle within the country of Dubai has
increased in the last few years, from 7,40,000 at the end of the year of 2006 to 1.4 million at the
end of the year of 2014, Which determined as an average annual increases of around 8.2 percent,
Which also refers as the highest in the globe (Traffic jams in Dubai cost time, money and health).
The average annual range of vehicles in the country of Dubai is increasingly very high. In case if
the figure is increasing at regular basis than, in the future, the figure of vehicles in Dubai can
reach approximately 2.22 million in the year of 2020. According to the report of RTA, around
450000 vehicles enter into the geographical boundary of Dubai at regular basis through out the
different emirates, with the city welcoming 40,000 vehicles in the peak duration of day routine.
To check for efficient setup and maintenance of bus rapid transport system:
As per the views of S.C Wirasinghe, April 2013, In growing and developing countries
and cities an individual wants or desire for fast, convenient transport system. Some of the major
issues which every town and cities are facing i.e. congestion on road, traffic jams. The
construction of new roads doesn't reduces the traffic jams or not decreases the travel time of
passenger. That's the main reason most of the passengers prefer own vehicles than public
transport. To avoid these kind of issues and makes an individual's life more easier and faster,

Road and Transport Authority of UAE introduced a new system i.e. Bus Rapid Transport
System.. Its an innovative technology improved the urban people travelling system by making
their life more easier and convenient (Cervero, 2013). This system decreases the traffic or
congestion issues and reduces the driving time apart from this it invited more passengers to the
public transport. The main benefit for which every individual are scared to travel is accidents. To
overcome this fear from passengers Bus Rapid Transport System are designed in such a way that
it provides the information of waiting time to next bus (Bus rapid transit – a review). Therefore
today Bus Rapid Transport System plays a vital role and becomes a transport tool kit for UAE
and satisfying the each and every individual apart from this increases the economy of a country
(Cervero and Dai, 2014). As per the views of Richard Mejia, 2019, In current scenario of UAE
traffic congestion become major issues to both public transport and passengers. It affects in
different ways such as:
Due to longer time of travel it discomforts the passengers.
Reduced the number of bus passenger.
To maintain the level of bus service additional buses are required.
