putting in our mind the political and economic risks globalization in connection with international
and national legislation? Whether all mentioned above are related to the security management
performance itself.
In the same context, is the good performance of companies and organizations is a conditional on
good security management performance? Or it has no relationship, but sometimes we find a
successful company, but its security management is not important part of this performance. In the
long term, this good performance will disappear. But we will not find an organization with its security
performance good and has a weak performance whether on short or long term.
In this paper, we try to give a concise answers, as specific as possible and be comprehensive for
almost types of organizations. These answers reach us to a conclusions highlighting the impact of
security management performance on the overall performance of organizations.
POOR SECURITY MANAGEMENT CONSEQUENCE
The lake of security policies and weakness of security management performance in place at any kind
of business can lead to a sequences of disastrous results for it, either this business is private or non-
private sector, it will lose its customers or beneficiaries and its suppliers. Without any sort of proper
security performance deterring criminal activity, the organizations is vulnerable to criminal acts. This
can lead to –in long term- weakness in the performance of the organization and increase of Security
violations occurring and even lead to more serious illegal actions preventing business growth. There
are many types of security violations that affect the performance of organizations and are not limited
to the following and with its consequences:[1]
1. Assaults and Vandalism
There are prime areas for criminals to rob or assault your employees and in long term, it will
negatively affect the capacity and human resources capability of the organization. In long
term, the employees continuously leaving the job position for security reason.
2. Theft of Goods
Warehouse, office, and asset items are financial loose that lead to breach the trustee in
between asset employees and that will lead to harm the performance harmony of asset
department.
3. Electronic Theft
Information security management preventing not only outside hackers but also protect your
employee from any IT illegal breach.
4. Corporate Espionage:
The compotators have interest to have attracted information about the organization such as
the suppliers, customers, employees and stakeholder’s personal files and any business
analysis report. The falling these information in wrong hand it will not only break down the
organization performance but hang it once for all.

The organization will lose their legal liability if the beneficiaries ensure that it not have a
reasonable care with their asset or data to protect it from harmful act. This will damage the
business legal liability and it lead to loss of customers and suppliers also.
Corporate security inevitably can hurt the bottom line of an organisation, and the same is the case
with reputation of the firm. Therefore, it is essential to make sure that it should remain on top of
every board’s agenda
Corporate security is basically a both strategic as well as operational activity. There is a need that
companies should identify the areas that requires proper strategy for security. These organisations
can implement corporate security risk assessment for the purpose of ensuring safe working practices
for the business operations in general.
Businesses should set a responsibility portfolio; this will lead to modification in the traditional views
of ‘Security measures’ within an organisation. There are plenty of organisations that are trying to use
traditional as well as defensive approach to corporate security; the same now a days is considered as
not important for the business.
There are some other approaches which act as an enabler of business; it includes implementing a
change management culture within the organisation for security best practices. Just implementation
of this culture will not do the necessary work, it is important to set in place the methods of
communicating as well as supporting these practices during the daily working operations of the
business. It is essential that security functions within the organisation must be in line with company’s
changing environment.
Like any department or business unit, we can conclude that any good security management
performance need a corporate of plan, strategy that has many agility tactics with sustainable
procedures and practical process can provisionally apply a competence employee. This will lead
positively impact on the performance of the company. The coming paper will illustrate that.

IMPACT OF SECURITY MANAGEMENT ON THE IT APPLICATION OF BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
The current system which is place for managing security policies as well as devices is not in line with
the requirement of businesses. The flood of applications, lack of visibility in connectivity related
applications has changed a lot and therefore security measures that needs to be taken manually has
to be altered as well for conducting business operations in a more effective as well as secured way.
There are many IT organisations which is making unnecessary changes within its applications and
retiring them almost every week or so, this has exposed business to outages and other unexpected
consequences. If businesses will start sending critical application to cloud, it will increase the risk of
outage and unplanned disruptions. It is expected the same is going to increase over period of time in
the longer run.
IT teams want to effectively contribute to their concerned organisation; they find it out that there
are plenty of time as well as resources that is occupied in conducting firewall audits as well as
applications deployment within environment. Despite doing all these efforts and applying resources,
the same rely heavily on manual processes. The same resources as well as time can be spent on any
other activity within the business, which will result in higher productivity as well as profitability in the
longer run.
IMPACTS OF EFFECTIVE SECURITY MANAGEMENT MODEL ON SHIPMENTS BUSINESS
PERFORMANCE

management (MSM) model performance on the performance of shipment company using
quantitative and qualitative data and has the results of the statistical analyses provide a solid
foundation for an effect of maritime security management in shipping companies. Generally, the
study reach to briefly following points:
1. It is essential the shipping companies should conduct an assessment of their organisational
performance with the help of proposed categorisation that is Maritime Security
Management (MSM).
2. The Security Performance is positively affected by factors of Security Policy.
3. The Security Performance is positively affected by the system, Procedures, and Business
Partners Security, and it lead that security management positively affected the performance
of Shipment Company.

customer and market performance.
Time performance shall be improved after making effective security management an important
part of the day to day business activities.
Even if that study has its limit on size of tested observations but still statistically confirm it.
This study statistically by using quantitative data approved that, there are a positive correlation
in between security management performance from one side and the shipment companies’
performance from other side. Each side has its variables that affecting each other which test it
perfectly by this study.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF POOR SECURITY MANAGEMENT ON NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
In the non-profit world, accumulating necessary funds for growth and management is essential for
success. Although many non-profit organizations focus their time and money on strategies of
fundraising and operations, technology and protecting their data is usually not high on the priority
list. Moreover, non-profit organisations usually not required by law to act in accordance with the IT
federal rules such as public company accounting reform as well as investor protection act, 2002. All
these are exempted for non profit organisations.
However, if their data is compromised, there is a potential for them to lose their value or tarnish
their reputations with their constituents. A good example of tarnished reputations is United Way
scandal of 2002. As per the chronicle of philanthropy, the CEO of United way of Washington has
done it wrong to take funds which are in excess of $5, 00,000. It is due to this scandal, their next
fund raising initiative has only been able to generate $38 million instead of $90 million as expected.
They received before the scandal. The organization’s employee size shrunk from 90 to 35. If good
policies and procedures were in place, the CEO (NGO) would have had a very difficult or almost
impossible time at getting at the funds.[5]
There is a need in every organisation that business operations should be continuous and information
system should be functioning properly, this is quite essential from a business perspective. If there is
threat to information system as well as processes then the same will be regarded as a threat to
business quality and its performance in the longer run. The main aim of information security is to
reduce the threats to a low level.
The following points are the negative impacts results of the weakness security management – IT- on
the performance of the NGO either small or large one:
1. Financial Loss
Cash or other assets or materials that are stolen or obtained illegally can all be assigned a dollar
value to define or assess the total financial value of any asset, cash or equivalent value. Actual frauds
that have been perpetrated around the world have reached loss amounts from hundreds to millions
of dollars.
2. Cost of Investigative Process
If there occurs a breach within the organisation, there is going to be a cost of investigating as well as
determining about who, what, where and when of the breach and the extent of this breach.
3. Loss of Reputation
The loss of public trust will lead to a decline in the overall reputation of a non-profit organization.
Non-profit organizations are quite sensitive, if any news or rumours will come out regarding their
fraud or security breach then it can lead to a decrease in trust as well as confidence among public
with respect too organisation.
4. Fractured or Weakened Relationships
Previous organizational relationships that had been developed with grantors, employees, other non-
profits and other governments will be questioned and evaluated.
5. Employee Defections
If the fraud is conducted by someone from within the organisation sitting on top management, then
the same will lead to a decline in the confidence of current employees within the organisation, and
they will move away from the company in search of a new employment at some other place.
6. Litigation
Document Page
6
Most often, organizations hide security breaches so as to not tarnish their reputations. However, if a
non-profit decides to pursue legal actions, the cost to go to court can be considerably expensive.
This can be an additional burden on the organisation and it may not be able to handle the same.
7. Damaged Morale
In my experience working for a non-profit, most employees are extremely dedicated to the mission
and work tirelessly for the mission.
THE IMPACT OF MANAGERIAL PERFORMANCE FOR PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES
We found from the previous above shipment companies case study that there is a positive
relationship and affection between the good performance of the security management on the
performance of the shipping companies, Therefore the interest in the performance of the
managerial of security management is necessary for the main positive effect of it on the
performance of organizations, whether profit or non-profit sector.
Therefore, one of the published paper study dealt with the issue of Security Managerial performance
and concluded the following statements:[6]
1. The managerial performance from private companies that provides private security is largely
influenced by the technology integration within a given activity.
2. The managerial performance from these same companies gets influenced in reverse through
labour integration within a particular activity.
Impact of Security function
Therefore, the performance of any business in the shadow of global political and
economic risk with government regulations followed by Innovation, Human Capital and
Cost Optimization all of which are connected to the growing chain and link directly back
to the security function.[7]
