Topic: “How does domestic violence effect young women in their adult life?”INTRODUCTIONBackground of the studyViolence is an aggressive attitude of a person against another that may result in sufferingphysical or mental harm by the person to whom violence has been made. Furthermore, the ter,domestic violence can be defined as unethical and aggressive behaviour of a spouse towards theirpartner and giving them physical harm. It can also be said that the domestic violence is unethicaland threatening behaviour of a person against their spouse. This gender of person does notmatter in case of domestic violence. Further, domestic violence can be either in physical, mentalor psychological aspect. It includes threatening someone regarding withholding of money,providing physical harm by cutting, beating or hitting another person, rape, reading someone'semails, text messages, etc. The legal system of UK contains a range of rules, regulations and laws in this context.These laws have been prepared by the government in order to prevent the overall population ofthe country from harmfulness of domestic violence. The English legal system has developed aspecial family law that contains a range of rules and regulations regarding domestic violence. Inaddition, this law also includes rules in order to providing aid to the people suffering fromdomestic violence. Moreover, this law also helps the spreading effective controlling measures inall over the country and reducing the probability of happening of such activities as well. The present study is based on the topic effect of domestic violence on adult life of youngwomen. This research project will provide a better understanding about seriousness of thedomestic violence along with its harmful effect over life of people suffering from such unethicaland aggressive behaviour of partners. It will include a study over the impact of such behaviourover physical and psychological health of people. In addition, the dissertation will provide a briefunderstanding over harmfulness of domestic violence over life of young women.The dissertation will use a range of tools and techniques of research regarding collectionnumerous data for analysing the actual impact of domestic violence. Further, the scholar willadopt various tools in order to analyse all the collected data and their interpretation in order toderive the actual results of the research. The present dissertation will use secondary method of
data collection. This method will help in improving the quality of collected data by using all thereliable sources for data collection purpose.Aims And ObjectivesAims:“The aim is to analyse the seriousness of domestic violence in the country anddetermining its effect on the health of young women in their adult life.”Objectives:To analyse seriousness of domestic violence.To detect the effect of domestic violence on physical and mental status of women.To analyse the effect on the adult life of women caused due to domestic violence.To study various laws, rules and regulations exists in the country for protection of womenagainst domestic violence.To recommend some solution regarding elimination of domestic violence from thecountry.Research questions11What is meant by domestic violence?11How does the domestic violence effects physical health of young women.?11How does it affect mental status of young women?11What is the effect of domestic violence on adult life of young women?11What would be recommended for avoiding domestic violence from the country?RationaleThe core reason behind selection of the topic impact of domestic violence over adult lifeof young women is to comply with the academic requirement provided to the scholar. It has alsobeen chosen so as to spreading the knowledge among the researcher and readers of dissertationabout the seriousness of domestic violence in the country. It has also been chosen for the purposeof improving the understanding of readers regarding use of the harmful impact of the behaviourof spouse towards their partners. In addition, the topic has also been adopted by the scholar inorder to helping the governing bodies in spreading awareness among the population regardingseriousness and harmfulness of behaviour causing domestic violence and contributing thegovernment in controlling activities relating to domestic violence in all over the country.
SignificanceThe present dissertation will lead in spreading awareness regarding seriousness of theaggressive behaviour that may cause domestic violence towards another person. It will help inmaking the readers aware about detecting the domestic violence within the society and makingaware about the way through which they can provide the knowledge about how they can help theperson suffering from the domestic violence. In addition, the study will also help in spreading theknowledge about the domestic violence among young women and its significant impact overtheir own adult life. Furthermore, it will help in improving their knowledge regarding severallaws available in the UK legal system through which they can prevent themselves from suchbehaviour of their partner. In this regard, the present dissertation will lead in helping theGovernment regarding spreading awareness among young women regarding the topic andhelping them in avoiding domestic violence from their own life.
LITERATURE REVIEWLiterature review in a research project explains the views, opinion and perceptions ofdifferent author and writers over the given research topic. The views are both in favour andcontradiction which are presented under various section which are extracted from the researchtopic. For the present research project over investigating the seriousness of domestic violencethe literature review determined the effects of domestic violence on the mental and physicalstatus of women, the negative impact of adult women and the legislative framework dealing withdomestic violence. In this, views and opinion are taken from books, journals and scholarlyarticles to present the thoughts of different person over domestic violence and its impact onwomen.Theme 1 : Seriousness of domestic violenceZeol and et.al.,(2017) has addressed domestic violence as one of the most serious issuein the society. The author states that it violates the fundamental rights of women. Attemptingdomestic violence against women often causes serious injurious to women both mentally andphysically and many times it often leads to death of the victim. The author stipulates that victimsof domestic violence are mostly women, about 95% cases supports that women are the victim insuch cases. Domestic violence is considered as serious problems because of the effect andtrauma it leaves on the mental and physical health of the victim who most of the time arewomen. Callaghan and et.al., (2018) on the other hand claims that domestic violence may haveshort and long term effect on the women. For instance, a women who has or is suffering fromdomestic violence might be having minor injuries which include bruises, broken bones, cuts andinjuries on the other parts of the body. Further, the author states that violence against women canhave serious effects over the physical health for long term such as arthritis, asthma, chronic pain,sleeping problems, heart problems, stress, etc. Moreover, it is also stipulated by the author thatwomen starts drinking alcohol and doing drugs for escaping from the trauma which was a resultof domestic violence. Moreover, it reduces the productivity of the person in area since thestability of mind of the affected person is lost and thereby cannot perform the routine functionswith same effectiveness.However, Showalter (2016) argues with the views of above author and claims that it isnot only the women who suffers but also their children who grow up watching domestic violencein their homes. This makes the issue even more serious as it destroys the life of one who is
