INTRODUCTIONIn the current era of globalisation, travel industry is flourishing very widely in term ofimproving revenue and foreign exchange reserves. Travel and tourism sector also providesvarious employment opportunities to individuals so that they can enhance their standard ofliving. Further, the tourism industry also involves wide range of components such as attraction,accommodation, transportation, travel agencies, catering and tour guides etc. All these serviceshelps in providing best travel experience to tourists and encourages them to visit the destinationagain in future (Tour Operators, 2014). Government also focuses upon developing the country asa tourist destination because it is one of the major contributor to the economy of the country.Present report focuses upon selecting Thomas Cook as a tour operator agency which is famousfor its operations in worldwide market. It also provides diversified services to its guests such astour itinerary, accommodation, transportation booking and other auxiliary services. Here,researcher aims to assess different aspects of current and recent trends in the development of touroperator industry. It also identifies different way of planing holiday and involves differentservices provided by tour operators. Report also focuses upon involving different methods ofpromoting tour packages to attract target audience. At the end, effectiveness of tactical,operational and managerial decisions has been undertaken in order to promote the tour package.TASK 11.1 Current and recent trends and development of the tour operators industryIt has been assessed that travel and tourism sector is one of the most vibrant industrywhich is growing at a rapid scale and thus provides benefits to different subsidiaries involvedwith it in some or other way. Hence,government is focusing effectively upon such industry in order to encourage them by providingdifferent relaxation in taxes so that they can promote tourism in the country. As it is major sourceof revenue generation and raises the economic capacity of country. According to the recenttrends and development in the tour operators industry, it is essential for them to adopt innovativeand creative technology so that large number of target audience can be influenced towards thebusiness (Briassoulis and Van der Straaten, 2013). Therefore, as per the current change in the

technology, Thomas Cook undertakes e-platform for providing convenience to customers andthus displaying the information about the package upon their website so that potential consumerscan be attracted towards the business. Moreover, as per the current requirement firm also focusesin providing customized travel services as per the needs and preferences of consumers so thatthey can provide best services to clients (Giaoutzi and Nijkamp, 2013). Hence, it helps inenhancing the business to attain growth and success. Further, Thomas Cook also collaborates with different accommodation service providersin order to give a list of 5 star luxurious hotels from which clients can choose as per their need. Ithelps in growing the travel and tourism sector and also provides satisfaction to customers.Following are the different recent and current trends within the tour operator industry such as-One of the fastest growing trend in the travel and tourism industry is e-commerceplatform that raises the awareness among people by providing them appropriateinformation regarding the available products or services. Also, adopting digital marketingmethod it assists tour operators to place their advertisement upon different social mediawebsites such as Facebook, Twitter etc. so that potential customers can be attractedtowards firm (Hall, Timothy and Duval, 2012). It is also considered as one of the mostconvenient factors that helps in delivering information to consumers at their place andthey do not have to move anywhere. For instance, keeping in mind the current trends inthe market, different travel operators such as Thomas Cook provides facility of onlinebooking that allows clients to avail the travel package as per their wish and also obtainthe discount and offers available on the websites. Thus, it helps in improving the salesand profitability of firm (Kolb, 2006).Also, according to the recent trends and changes, government needs to focus upondeveloping new provisions and regulations such as increasing airlines as well as airportsso that maximum number of tourists can visit the country. It also results in improving thedemand of tourism services in the country and grow the economy as well (Mak, 2011).In the current era, each and every business enterprise is entering into the concept of e-commerce so that they can sell their products or services online in order to provide easeto clients.
