Tourette's has been linked to various parts of brain where proper functioning is hampered, which
leads to Tourette Syndrome
Current research also explains that abnormalities in certain brain regions including basal ganglia,
frontal lobes and cortex connects regions and neurotransmitters such as dopamine,
norepinephrine responsible for communication between nerve cells called neurons.

There are two types of Tics which are motor and vocal, short lasting sudden movements or
uttered sounds occur suddenly during normal behavior. Tics are often repittive and numerous
successive occurrences have to be identified within specific case. Simple motor tics may include
movements such as eye blinking, shoulder shrugging, The complex motor tics consists of series
of movements performed in same order, such as repeated or kick out with leg.

Simple vocal tics include repetitive throat clearing, sniffing, barking, or grunting sounds which
are found to be integrally common within speaking activities.
Complex vocal tics may include repeating one’s own words or phrases, repeating others’ words
or phrases (called echolalia), or more rarely, using vulgar, obscene, or swear words diversely
within regular lifestyle.

Most children with TS are diagnosed with additional mental, behavioral and development
condition that further leads to stress and difficulty in managing health care. There are many
children with TS, experiencing learning difficulties and providing proper treatments and
coordinated care is of utmost importance for TS patients.
Ask your provider about concerns and symptoms beyond tics. Most of children with TS also
have been diagnosed with at least one additional mental, behavioral, or developmental condition
and these conditions often add to stress and difficulty in managing health care. Many children
with TS also experience learning difficulties. Getting proper treatment and coordinated care is
very important.

Other behavioral therapies such as biofeedback or supportive therapy reduces tic symptoms,

Supportive therapy helps person with TS to better cope with disorder and deal with secondary
and emotional problems that sometimes are found to be integrally crucial.
It enables to deal with secondary and social emotional problems that occur variedly among
people having TS, and take up relaxing therapies within lifestyle habits which also reduces stress
and depression.
