[Main Hall of First Church of Otago]IntroductionFirst Church is a conspicuous church inthe city named Dunedin in NewZealand. It is situated in the MorayPlace, which is known as heart of thecity. Church is regarded one of themost attractive churches of 19thcentury. Its height is 175 feet and isbuilt of a stone called Oamaru. FirstChurch of Otago was established inNovember 1873 It was designed bythe architect R.A Lawson. The churchhas following parts named as Porch,Belltower, Sanctuary, the Chancel,the organ, the ST Andrews Aisle,Windows, Pulpit, describing thehistory and culture of Otago. Apicture of First Church of Otago wasintroduced in a string of ostagestamps celebrating the birthday ofOtago in 1948.History (Actual Product)The original first church wasestablished in September 1848and could manage only afootfall of 200. It was a type of aweatherboard and was establishedvery rapidly. For the first threemonths after construction, therewas no sitting arrangement in thebuilding. After it, an extended andexpended church was constructedwith double capacity than the firstone. In its earlier days this buildingwas also used as a communitylecture hall, school and chambersof Otago Provincial Council. Thesebuildings were only a type of atemporary solution which startedto be used for other purposes atthe establishment of permanentchurch in 1856. Third construction of the churchwas started on the place abovethe prior structures on DowlingStreet. A woody structure basedon stone with sitting capacity of600 was being used till the currentbuilding was completed. The nameof the Church does not refers tothe buildingbut is indicated itsGlass Windows of ChurchRose window is after the pulpit andstand in First Church Dunedin.
