INTRODUCTION
Travel and tourism industry is defined as the industry that involves the movement of
people from one place to another for the purpose of business, enjoy and various other. In the
process of moving from one place to another, people requires accommodation, food and drink
and other facilitate that are provides by the travel and tourism industry. Tourism industry
includes business that plays important role in attracting, accommodating as well as entertaining
tourists in their tours. This report essay covers the description of the development of
compensatory tourism as well as positive and negative impacts of tourism industry on economic,
environmental, socio-cultural environment. Along with the concept of sustainability also
explained. Furthermore, future economic and environmental impacts are mentioned in this essay.

Contemporary tourism is the intentional approach that presents new as well as refreshing
approaches that helps in the studies of tourism sector through considering various issues such as
changing world order, tourism ethics, pro-poor tourism and destination marketing. The
contemporary tourism highlights the regular threats from tourism ethics as well as health scares
that are faced by the tourism industry in current scenario (Boateng, Kosiba and Okoe, 2019). The
industry develops various security and risk management strategies as well as illustrates the
potential implications that leads business towards attaining the objective of growth and
development. Contemporary tourism industry is divided into five sections and each section has
their own objectives, examples, checklists and case studies. These five sections are contemporary
tourism system, the contemporary tourist destinations, tourism future, teaching and studying
contemporary tourism. All these sectors analyse the needs and demands of tourist that enables
them to perform their operations with efficiency through satisfying tourists.
There are various factors are included in tourism sector that impact the industry in
positive as well as negative manner. These factors are economic factors, technological factors,
socio-cultural factors and environmental factors. It is important for the tourism industry to
analyse these factors and their impacts on industry that enables the sector to take appropriate
decision (Goffi, Cucculelli and Masiero, 2019). Along with that, there are various factors such as
weather and climate factors, spiritual and religious factor, historical and cultural factors that

affect the tourism industry in positive as well as negative manner. These factors plays significant
role in the development of tourism industry. Proper analysation of these factors leads it towards
helps the industry to develop effective strategies and handle issues with great potentiality.

The importance of tourism sector in economy can be determined by the number of people
who are involved in it and generated income by them. There are large number of people are
engaged in tourism industry directly and indirectly. This sector includes accommodation,
transportation, food, boating, maintenance, trekking and various other others. Guests pay for all
these services. Thus, tourism industry generates considerable benefits from the people who
moves from their own destination to other. Tourism industry plays important role in the growth
and development of economic factor of country as it helps to helps to gets foreign exchange.
Good amount of foreign reserves helps to maintain a country's balance of trade. Along with that,
tourism industry helps a country to generates employment opportunities for he employed youth.
Through this opportunity, tourism industry provide the way to get livelihood and generate
income for their survival as well as well-being (Gómez-Vega and Picazo-Tadeo, 2019). There
are various positive and negative impacts of tourism industry on economic that affect whole
economic conditions of country. Positive factors of tourism industry are it attracts foreign
tourists to the home country that enables the country to fetches foreign currency. It improves
economic condition of country, enhancing international trading capacity as well as maintains
good image of county in international market place. Furthermore, quickly growing national and
international tourism also creates employment opportunities in country that improves the
economic status of people who are involved in tourism sector. The sector provides jobs through
hotels, restaurants, local cultural products and various other. Whereas, negative impacts of
tourism industry on country economic conditions are that there is various hidden costs are
included in tourism sector that affect economy of destinations countries in negative manner. As
the tourism sector is all-inclusive package so, two-third part of expenditure goes to airlines,
hotels and international companies and rest of profit are gained by the local businesses or
workers. Along with that many countries do not support tourism due to its seasonality or harsh
economic conditions (Kamata, 2022). In the time-period of season, local employees get
employment but there is no guarantee that they get the same level of employment in next season
so, it creates the uncertainty and impact overall economy.

Discuss the positive and negative economic impacts of tourism on environment
Environment can be described as total condition and surrounding in which human, animals as
well as plan interact and lives. Tourism is one of activities that bring more people in a country
that create pressure on different types of resources. It can create bot positive as well ad negative
impact on environment of a country (Wondirad, Tolkach and King, 2020). Tourism activities
create positive impact on environment as with increasing numbers of tourism, environmental
consciousness is also increased. As government is making efforts in order to make their
environment clean and good that is able to attract more and more tourist in their county.
Increasing numbers of tourism also create pressure on government and its people to promote
sustainable tourism. It will also provide that country as opportunity to earn more money that can
be used by them for purpose of developing more resources as well as development of their areas.
Efforts are also make by people to make their area more clean to attract more tourist in their
areas. Due to this, more efforts are made for protection of environment and making ecological
balance. In order to make their area more attractive, various public parks, road side greenery,
herbs of medical gardens, gardens and other things also developed and maintained by local
authorities (Lee and Jan, 2019). Tourism activities causing various positive impact on
environment but at same time, it also create various negative impact. Due to tourism activities,
land is used for purpose of construction of restaurants, hotel in order to meet demand of tourist.
Due to this, forest areas is also removed in order to develop building. It also leads to replacement
of agriculture areas through garbage disposal, roads and building. Increasing numbers of tourist
arriving in a country also create pressure on natural resources of a specific areas. Tourist require
various vehicle for travelling that leads to pollution in environment.
Discuss the positive and negative economic impacts of tourism on socio-cultural environment
Society can be described as community as well as broad group of people who are living in
specific area. These has common institution, interest, activities and tradition. Society is refers to
relationship of people who are sharing different values as well as common identity. It includes
morality, values, norms and belief. Tourism activities is creating socio-cultural impact over
people of society. It create various positive impact as it provide opportunity to people to interact
with people who has different culture. It allow people to get education of different culture and
also exchange values. Cultural exchange results in development of mutual understanding as well
as sympathy among people that helps to reduce prejudices (Martínez-Pérez, Elche and García-

Villaverde, 2019). It also providing support to community development and also assist them to
develop better living condition. Tourism activities provide support to development of community
and also provide them various facilities as well as services. It create awareness among people
related to natural, cultural, historical sites. Tourist are taking interest in purchase of different
types of arts and crafts that provide support to local artist. Tourism not only create positive
impact but also create negative socio-cultural impact. It promote nuclear family norms in society
and also reduce bond of family structure. It also promote urbanisation emigration. There are
some place, hotels where tourist are welcomes in traditional ways that leads to commercialism
of traditional norms. Tourism also leads to breaking of traditional norms as well as customers of
local people. There are foreign tourist who break customers that leads conflicts among guest as
well as host (Mura and Ključnikov, 2018). With rise in tourism activities mixed language is also
rise. Increasing these activities in a country also leads to failure in getting respect to local values
and custom that can harm sentiments of local people.
CONCLUSION
From above mentioned project report, it can be concluded that tourism is one of important
activities that is creating various benefits for a country. There are various factors in tourism
sector that create positive and negative impact. These factors including environmental factor,
economic, socio-cultural. Tourism activities is contributing to economy in many ways as it
provide job opportunity for people. It also provide them opportunity to get more foreign
exchange. Tourism activities is also creating impact over environmental factors as due to this,
government and local people are more focusing on development of local community. But at
same time, it create pressure on natural resource. Tourist also sometimes through rapper
anywhere which is not good and make place dirty. Tourism activities also create various socio-
cultural impact as it provide opportunity to people to learn new language, culture, values but at
same time, it leads to conflicts among local people and tourist.
