INTRODUCTION
Tourism is an activity where people like to travel throughout the world and understand
the different cultures, environment and also boost up the revenue of the economy. Some people
travel due to some business purposes and some by their interest. Nowadays, tourism is huge
platform for increasing the economy around the world and provides a thousand of opportunities
to develop a particular country or place to develop more and more (Soldić Frleta, and Smolčić
Jurdana, 2020). The contemporary tourism simple means a tourist who is interested in
experiencing the places with an emotional attachment related to the local community and
standardization of the tourism. The report will illustrate the detailed about the contemporary
tourism and its positive and negative impacts on the economic, environmental and socio-cultural
of tourisms. It also includes the future impacts of these surroundings which is putting a great
change in the tourism industry and on its development areas.
The development of contemporary tourism and its significant factors.
The tourism is a wide and huge business which is putting the great effect in the
international business and helping many of the people to grow individually. This business is able
to give the multiple employment in this field and supporting the today generation in maximum
and appropriate ways. It is known that the tourism industry is developing day by day and able to
increase the economy of the world rapidly (Fang, Gozgor, Paramati, and et.al., 2021). This
business has become the important and precious for the development of the world and
accelerating the growth of different countries in fruitful way. The contemporary tourism is the
most important but still has been misunderstood by the people globally and putting the different
aspects both positive and negative as well. This industry is making a change in the society and
even throughout the world and helping to detail a concept of dynamic nature of contemporary
experiences and the system (Suroso, Hendriarto, and et.al., 2021). It is an international approach
which is presenting a new and fresh formulation to the study of tourism which includes the
different issues which is happening in the tourism world. Today, in this generation the
contemporary tourism is affected by the different area of the world and creating a trouble in the
development of a business. The tourism industry is exploding but getting impacted by the
different significant factors of the world such as environmental, economy, and much more
(Corluka, 2019). These all factors are causing an effect on the tourism business from which it is
able to get affected widely and having disturbance in the growth and development of this

business. In the previous studies, it has been studied that tourism is kind of business which is
able to supply the effective economical results and also able to grow the name of the particular
country around the world.
Positive and negative economic impacts of tourism
Positive
Increase standard of living: As, it has been already known that tourism helps and supports in
increasing the standard of living by the different areas where people are able to get the new and
various offers just like better jobs and education, which helps them to improve the quality of the
living of their family and even their individual lifestyle (Rodríguez-Algeciras, and et.al., 2020).
Tourism is the best thing or process which helps to increase the economic structure of a
particular country and makes a good impact on the tourism world.
More Employment Opportunities: Tourism is also helping and giving the people more and
adverse opportunities to get employed as it is a very vast and huge field which is giving the
maximum number of opportunities to the young people. More employment opportunities more
possibility of generating the economy in the society and even at particular country (Frisch,
Sommer, and et.al., 2019). The tourism is able to increase the economy of the world from giving
the different kinds of possibility to the people of different ages and leading this industry at higher
level.
Negative
Increase in prices: Tourism industry has impacted the economic structure of the local
community by increasing the prices of goods and products as the demand of the particular
products increases from the tourist the price hikes and negatively impact on the local community
people and does not able to manage their lifestyle and belongings (Nagaj, and Žuromskaitė,
2021). Because of these increasing prices, the local people are not able meet their basic needs of
life which affects their survival.
Infrastructure cost: As, it has been known that tourism is a kind of event where people come
for many reasons but requires the best accommodation in the entire activity where the tourism
development can cost the government and local tax pay a deal of economy for the improvement
of the h road expansion and airport ways which actually reduces the money for the education and
health infrastructure (Putkaradze, and Abuselidze, 2019).

The positive and negative environmental impacts of tourism
Positive
Environmental awareness: The tourism industry puts the positive impact on the entire world as
people who travels are mostly connected with the natural environment and surrounding which
raise the environmental awareness towards the society and helps in making the green and clean
surroundings with lack of deforestation (AL-Najjar, and et.al., 2018). Environmental problems
can be solved when people get closer with the nature and puts their efforts in protecting the
natural surrounding in any possible manner.
Protection and conservation of wildlife: Tourism industry also helping and supporting the
wildlife sanctuaries by putting the attention on the protection of them and also putting the efforts
to resolve the issues related to the biodiversity and endangered species by securing them from
the human impact on the environment (Castela, 2018).
Negative
Increase pollution: It also causes a form of pollution as noise pollution, air pollution, solid
waste and oil and chemicals which is harming the entire surrounding and increasing the pollution
(Jangra, and Kaushik, 2018). For example, transport by airways, road and railways is increasing
the continuous impact on the environment and causing the nature at higher amount. As, the
number of tourist increases the uses of these transportation services may increase and cause the
pollution from the different resources.
Depletion of natural resources: The tourism is harming the natural resources in wide range as
the consumption of these areas are increasing with the development of the tourism industry.
Some resources include as land degradation, water resources and depletion of other local
resources. For example the tourist people use the extreme amount of water for their work
purposes or for fun like swimming pools which causes a shortage of water supplies and great
volume of water is wasted (Unurlu, 2021). Another example, is building a hotel and
accommodation place like resorts needs a land which increases the deforestation of the land.
The positive and negative socio-cultural impacts of tourism
Positive
Preserving Local culture: The tourism helps the different cultures and communities to preserve
their local culture and tradition as travellers or tourist visit from one place to another to learn and
educate themselves about the different cultures which helps in spread of the tradition of

particular place (Pantiyasa, and Lestari, 2020). For example, tourist visit Beijing to learn and
capture the knowledge more about Chinese dynasties and their different local heritages, culture
and crafts. Tourism makes the people to learn more about the different places and culture of the
local community.
Strengthening communities: Tourism can support and strengthen the community by their
celebration of the festivals. For example, the running of the bull's festival is celebrated in the
Spain country where tourist go and enjoy watching and celebrating the festival and can be able to
catch the vibe perfectly (Eusébio, Carneiro, and et.al., 2020). From this, local people can
influence the tourism development and also able to improve the jobs and earnings prospects and
the proper training.
Negative
Loss of authenticity: In simple terms, the authenticity refers as which is cannot copy and cannot
be made fake. According to this, the western world has argued and believed that tourist
destination is no longer authentic when the tradition changes.
Increase in crime and moral behaviour: The tourist people visit and travel many places and
also carry some valuable things like cameras, jewellery which increase the criminal attraction
and comes to enhance these activities like robbing and drug dealing (Lewis, Browne, and
Houdet, 2021). In addition, the gambling is the most common and most happening activity in the
tourism industry which is an accelerating the crime in the society.
CONCLUSION
The report has concluded the tourism world and its different aspects which harms and also
helps in increasing the values accordingly. It has been known that tourism industry is very vast
and huge where people like to visit for many purposes. The report has included the development
of the contemporary tourism in the world and its functions. Even, the tourism has positive and
negative both kinds of impact as well on the economy, environment and also at socio-cultural
areas which is putting the great effect on the entire world. This industry can grow effectively and
also able to increase the economic structure of the country and can also contribute in the
environmental areas by focusing on these objectives.
