INTRODUCTION The tourism of Morocco has been famous for the historic beauty and the archaeological significance that it presents for its tourists and visitors that flock to the county in abundance. In this report, an analysis has been made on the evolution of tourism industry of Morocco and the manner in which the gradual shift has occurred will also be identified. Further, in the report, an stakeholder analysis will be presented related to the tourism industry of Morocco taking into consideration the data for past 5 years specifically. Lastly, the report will also identify potential challenges that can arise for Morocco in the future and the different economic and global dimensions will be included in the analysis conducted. MAIN BODY Evolution of Tourism as an industry In the current business environment, it can be adequately said that tourism is one of the most lucrative and profitable business (Sghaier and et.al., 2019). The desire to explore the world and its different beauties has presented a great opportunity before the tourism companies of the countries that are rich in cultural and historical heritage. The country Morocco is one such country where the rich history and ancient culture has made it an extremely popular destination today. However, the tourism industry was not always such a lucrative business as it is today. Earlier the tourist who visited Morocco was mainly attracted because of the archaeological significance i.e. the archaeologists, or the researchers and students who evaluated the different museums, past history etc. of Morocco. Earlier, travelling was not considered as a leisure activity and people often avoided but over the years, the mentality has evolved where the desire to explore different cultures and countries has made tourism a leisure activity (Sigala, 2017). Morocco has also evolved with time where today they are not just famous for their beaches, history or culture but the luxurious lifestyle of the people, the stable environment and the other benefits also acts as a point of attraction for them. The tourism industry of Morocco has evolved heavily in the past years when the ministry of tourism was first set up in year 1985 to today in the year 2020. The tourism has become the major source of revenue especially in terms of foreign exchange for the Moroccan government where this industry is giving employment and revenue to the majority of people in Morocco today. Thetotal number of tourist arrivals in the North Africa has been more in Morocco then in any other area and it was further reported that 3
the there were approximately 12.3 million tourist who visited Morocco in the year 2018 (Morocco’s 2020 Vision and Plans for the Tourism Industry,2019). This clearly signifies that the evolution of the tourism industry has been very significant in Morocco in the past years specifically and there are many stakeholders that are associated with this industry and are affected severely by every decision that is being made. The stakeholders are those parties that are interested in the activities and performance of any organisation, individual, economy or a country. Role of stakeholder Stakeholders are denoted by all such entities that are associated with the tourism sector in any professional capacity. Following stakeholders are associated with the tourisdm sector in Morocco. Government: Government consider as the key stakeholder associated with the tourism sector in Morocco. All policies and strategies to grow tourism are form by government. Organisations hold by government play crucial role in attracting travellers and tourists from its policy formation. Government also play key role in conserving all tourist oriented destination in Morocco. Conservation of old heritage sites play a crucial role in improving the life of such heritage locations in order to attract tourism in Morocco (Aouiche and et.al., 2016). Many travellers and tourists visit Morocco due to its historical and cultural background which attracts such travellers. Government play huge role in conserving such heritage monuments and cultural aspectsoftheMorocco.Governmentalsoplayhugeroleinintroducingnewtravelling destinations in country. It is crucial for all geographical locations to introduce new tourist destinations in order to attract the already visited travellers back to explore such new locations and places. Government form policies to develop new heritage sites and monuments to attracts both new and already visited travellers to visit Morocco again. Government is also a crucial stakeholder in term to improving tourist business in country. Many businesses are totally associated with the tourism and travel. The entire industry is among the major growing industry associated with the business environment. Government also initiate its policies to develop the entire industry which also involves hotels, restaurants and other key amenities associated with the travel and tourism industry. Business organisations:Business organisations also among the key stakeholders associated with the tourism sector. All travellers and tourist plan their trip on the basis of different aspects. 4

In the year 2018 Morocco witnessed 12.3 million tourists all across the globe. The percentage hike in tourists in Morocco was approximately around 8% as compare to the previous year (Bogaert, 2018). The annual growth rate of the tourism sector in Morocco is approximately 6% per year. This is an effective growth rate for the country. Due to constant hike in tourists in the country the revenue generated from the sector was around MAD 70 billion (Timothy, 2018). The 12.3 million travellers visits Morocco are belong to all overseas tourists in Morocco. It can further analysed that almost 1 million tourists are visiting the place every month are comes to overseas destinations. The economic growth of the Morocco tourism sector has further contributed in the overall economic development of the country. Tourism sector play crucial role in the GDP of the Morocco as the sector is growing at the rate of 6% every year. Tourism sectors also a huge source of collecting foreign currency. Country is increasing its foreign currency base every year at the rate of 9% which has also improved the currency exchange rate of the country in international market. Tourism sector has become one of the major sectors in the business environment. As the sector is generating effective demands every year which has further improved the growth 5
potential of many business organisations. Many industries like hospitality industry, guides, spa and other industries are immensely depend upon the tourism sector to grow in the market. Economic growth of tourism sector has provided immense opportunities to other sector to grow and earn effective revenues from the business operations. In the tourism sector the market share of the Morocco is approximately around 6.6% along with Spain (Spenceley, 2019). The figure has projected the dominance of the Morocco in tourism sector. Tourism sector growth has further improved the economic growth of the country. Tourism sector also creates immense employment opportunities for the local peoples in Morocco. Employment creation has been one of the major issues not just in front of developing economies like India and other but also in front of the developed countries like America. Due to economic growth of the tourism sector in Morocco millions of job opportunities are created over the past few decades in the Morocco in different sector such as hospitality, restaurants and other associated market sector of tourism. Travel motivation There are a lot of factors which the government of the country in North Africa are stable which have made a lot of decisions so that the country can have a better tourism. There are a lot of advantages which are visible in the country because of the tourism factor and that are not just developing the country but the population of the country as well. There is well maintained infrastructure in the country which is a great factor for the country which is why it is very important for the country to maintain. The experience of the tourists is maintained so that they want to travel again and again. There are translators and local guides which are easily available for the tourist in the country so that they can have a better experience in the country. This is going to make the businesses grow and not just that but also the tourism in the country which is giving so many population of the country a job opportunity in the country. There are a lot of factors which are attracting the tourism in the country and there are a lot of businesses which want to develop themselves in the country. The needs of the tourists as well and the expectations of the tourism has to be fulfilled so that they can have a better improvement for the growth which is a very essential factor. Standards, demands and trends of the tourists have to be followed so that there is a better functioning which is a very essential factor for the company to take care of which is going to help Morocco to have better tourism. The tourists will have to be given hotels which match their standards therefore it is very important for international hotel chains to come in the country so that there is a learning which can be taken by other hotels in the country and then develop accordingly. Understand the traditions and culture of the country and the tourist’s country is going to take time but it is very essential for that to take place so that there is a better functioning. The tourism has to be given the best so that they can go tell people about the experience they have had in the other country which is going to allow more tourists to come in Morocco over the year. The weather in the country is very nice which can allow the tourist to come any time. The pressure of working is increasing in all the industries which are why it is very important for the tourists to travel to a peaceful area and North Africa is providing the customers with that factor which is a great advantage(Tang and Abosedra, 2016). There are tourists coming in but they are not disturbing the environment of the country and there is a well developed environment so that the functioning can take place and the tourists are safe and best of services are provided to them. CONCLUSION From the above report it can be concluded that there is a need of having a proper plan for making the country have a better tourism in their country. There is a good flow of cash in the country which can be used for development of the country and develop the tourist points as well as provide employment in the country which North Africa requires so that they can have a better stability in the country. Morocco is one of the finest cities in the world for tourism because the culture and the environment are very healthy and pleasant for the tourism to take place throughout the year. There are a lot of emergencies in the country which has to be solved on time so that there is a better tourism in the country which is going to help the economic growth in the country. The people of the country are playing a great impact on the tourism as well which is a great factor in this report because the people are welcoming the tourism in the country. 9
