INTRODUCTION
◦ Tourism is defined and understood as the activity of travelling and is set of interconnected activities of
tourists while traveling to various places. Tourism is the process of spending time away from home by
using set ices offered by the companies at the destination.
◦ This PPT will outline the challenges which are faced by tourism industry. The PPT will also cover the
future of tourism industry and its importance in the economy and economic development.

UNDERSTANDING OF TOURISM INDUSTRY
◦Tourism is defined as the action of individuals travelling to and staying in
locations outside of their regular surroundings for the goal of attracting,
accommodating, and other objectives. In other words, tourism is the act of
spending time away from home for relaxation, relationship building, and pleasure
while taking use of the company's services and facilities.
◦The travel and tourism industry is based on 5 different sectors which are
transportation, accommodation, food and beverages, recreation and entertainments
and travel services. Tourism is a complex industry which involves various types of
business, organizations and government agencies.
◦For example, companies such as International Travel House, TravelGuru,
Expedia, Trailfinders, Hays travel and others are some of the companies which are
operating in travel and tourism industry.

IMPORTANCE OF HOSPITALITY AND
TOURISM
Tourism increases the economy's revenue, provides thousands of employments, improves a country's
infrastructure, and fosters cultural interchange between visitors and residents. Tourism generates a
considerable number of employments in a variety of industries. The importance of hospitality and tourism
is explained below:

◦ Through innovation, we will improve our holiday experience. We widen our viewpoint and attitude by
travelling to different places and meeting new people. People become closer as a result. The greatest
difficulty that the global tourist sector has faced thus far has been a pandemic.
◦ The United Nations World Tourism Organization forecasts a global decline in tourist numbers. During
this pandemic, strict government limits, health knowledge, and social contact will have long-term
attitude effects. The tourism sector is now in decline. Travel will become easier and more comfortable as
a result of technological advancements.

CONCLUSION
◦ From the above-mentioned information, it can be summarized that travel and tourism is the activity
which fosters relaxation and in exploring different places. The tourism activities can foster diversity if
culture and support local business and in development of infrastructure and economy as whole.
◦ It can be understood that the travel, tourism and hospitality industry has been rapidly growing due to
high interest and demand of customers for travelling.
