The city of Nepal known as Pokhara is famous for trekking as many people visit the
country for the purpose of trekking. Many people go and enjoy their hobby of climbing and
trekking on mountains. The nation has enjoyed higher growth and urbanization in past few years.
So it is considered to be one of the most important and developed tourist destinations of Nepal.
Nepal government has developed many infrastructures facilities like airports and shopping malls
so that it can attract many people to visit the country. It has also been easy for local public to
reside due to better infrastructure facilities. Every country wishes to attract as many people as it
can to welcome incomes and development of the nation. Thus the country has a very good mix of
modern infrastructure as well as traditional and heritage cultureThis place has developed
trekking hobby in many people and thus it helped everyone who visits to have a wonderful
experience of their life.
Australia
The above detail has made it very clear that culture of Nepal is entirely different from
that of Australia. The nature has made both the cities completely different and beautiful in their
own way.
So both the countries attracts tourists but in entirely different way. As it depends on the
person that what they wish to see and enjoy. If someone wishes to enjoy historical place then
Australia is an option for them. Whereas, if a person loves to do trekking and enjoys natural
beauty scenes more than they should visit near to Nepal. One of the reasons of attracting more
tourism in Australia is due to its infrastructure. As this country have better physical amenities as
in comparison to Nepal. Although the cost of living is high in Australia which is not been
affordable by every person. This makes the people think before visiting the place. Further,
considering the social factors, Nepal has not grown much in terms of business or any other
attraction is not there such as sporting event or education Centre. Thus, government of Nepal
needs to develop all these facilities so that it can enjoy more people and growth. This will also
result in giving employment to people and income to the country. In Australia it was the most
famous as British Empire has accepted its culture by appraising it. In the year 1788 it has also
come up with numerous new cultures which are accepted by the government. There are many
beautiful museums, arts and galleries present in the city. As, Sydney follows different cultures
which have many attractive points. Due to the dynamic culture the city has many museums,
galleries and art spaces. The city is also home to many festivals, Film Festival and the Sydney
6
Document Page
Royal Easter show. It attracts many tourists and gives income to local people of the city. Sydney
is one of the oldest cities in Australia which is a popular tourist determination but many changes
accepted by it since old times.
Sydney has very good social life which is completely driven by events of sports and
majorly it has a huge business hub. People of Sydney are active in business which creates a
social culture of earnings saving among people(Croce and Perri, 2017). Thus, it has increased the
value of city in past few years. As people of Sydney are highly involved in business sector, it
gives so employment to people and it is called as home for economic sectors such as mining, real
estate, health and social community services etc(Lado-SestayFernández-Castro2018).
Sydney is a developed city which has good infrastructure facilities and good transport
networks. It has helped in attracting many visitors as every traveller wants to enjoy physical
facilities while travelling to another city. Safety is also a reason for people for to visit Sydney.
Physical features of city also include different hotels which avail all facilities for visitors. In
addition to this, transport facility for both within the city and outside city is quite good. Airport
and international facilities of Sydney also make different people to come and visit the city (Su
and Swanson, 2017). There are many international airports in the world which makes it possible
for people to go in different parts of the world. It resulted in the injection of $11.7 billion into
the economy of the city . Thus considering this it can be said that city has evolved over the time
period and is currently having numerous tourists and is one of the most important tourist
destinations of the country.

developing tourist destinations
Covered in PPT
3.2 Characteristics of a tourist destination affecting its appeal
Covered in PPT
Task 4
4.1 Analysing issues that affect the popularity of tourist destinations
Issues in Nepal
Nepal is a very small country which resides in the foothills of Himalayan range. The
tourism in the country is such due to the heritage of Nepal, its natural beauty and the
opportunities to travel through for people, rock climbers and the adventure lovers. Although in
recent years there was 21.4% growth in number of visitors coming to the country which shows
that there is much more possibility for tourism in the country. Some factors are discussed below
which affect the popularity of the nation are as under.
Lack of Transport and Communication: Transport is the basic facility that is required
by every person to move from one place to another. Nepal is not very developed in terms

Document Page
of transportation which creates difficulty for the people to know more about the country.
As before visiting to any place every person takes the entire detail and knowledge about
the city and the nation. Lack of communication leads to disconnect Nepal from the rest of
the world. In addition to this, The lack of technology and innovative facilities are not
there which affects the transport and communication in the country and thus it results in
less tourism in the country. Furthermore, the tourists who are going there to enjoy the
destination end up with facing problems regarding transport. In addition to this, every
person faces difficulty in finding new places to visit while they should have enough
sources to know everything in advance (Stojanovic and Curras-Perez, 2018). Government
of Nepal should take care of being more advance in terms of its communication and
transport facility so that it can attract more people to visit the nation. Lack of quality hotels and infrastructure: There are various hotels in the entire country
which avails facilities to local as well as outsiders for staying. These hotels are not proper
and maintained well and are very unhygienic where it is difficult for people to stay. This
results in the making bad impact and attractiveness of the country on the visitors. Further
the lack of infrastructure such as roads and the maintenance of proper communication
create a bad impact on people and it affects the tourism industry of the country.
Issues in Sydney, Australia
Lack of services and facilities:All the factors are connected with services which should
always be proper to give a sense of satisfaction to people. The lack of services affects the
intensity of manpower, growth in infrastructure and also the employment of people by
use of technology in improving the services and facilities.
Terrorism: When a nation has high terrorism attacks then it hinders tourism in that area
or region. Like IRAN is having low popularity among the tourist from around the world
as it is having higher rate to terrorist attacks. (Karl, 2018).
Due to less growth in its economic sector, investment in its tourism industry is less which
results in less development of tourism in the country. Tourism is the backbone of any nation for
increasing employment and revenue of the country. Thus, the involvement of the government in
the sector is lacking either in the development of infrastructure, manpower development,
conservation of the tourist destinations and the availability of services and facilities.

4.2 Potential for responsible tourism to enhance the host community at worldwide tourist
destinations
Responsible tourism shows a way for the involvement and engagement of the tourists. It
includes majorly every person around which is tourists, business, local and other stakeholders
such as government. Stakeholders plays a major role in development of tourism sector in the
nation. They can invest more towards this industry and help it to grow more which overall has
resulted in national development. There are majorly three impacts of planning and development
of tourism. It covers economic and social factors to a great extent. Long term growth is entirely
dependent on responsible tourism which has enhanced the national development. They should be
careful for the sustainable development and changing economic condition of the nation
(Stojanovic, Andreu and Curras-Perez, 2018).
Responsible tourism involves responsibility towards society, commitment towards
environmental aspects and the integration of the local people in the activities for tourist
development. Thus, it can be said that responsible tourist development meets the need of the
tourists as well as the host region and at the same time protecting and enhancing the
opportunities in the future. It leads to efficient management of the all the resources to fulfill the
needs of the tourist in all respects and maintaining the cultural integrity, biological diversity and
environmental balance.
Entire responsible tourism will benefit Nepal and Australia by following ways:
Earning economic benefit for the residential people of the nation and also improve the
services and facilities given to people who come to enjoy their vacations.
Higher impact can be made towards the conservation of tourist destinations and the
places of attribute so that sustainability of the nation can be raised.
This all results in giving a sense of satisfaction to visitors.
The above benefits and need of responsible tourism has shown that it needs to have
higher investments and execution of plans can be possible only by responsible tourism.
Thus, government of the nation plays a very important role in growth and development of
this sector.
Improving security
Promoting tourism among the local communities and people.
Methods used by Nepal to overcome the issues
1. Lack of transportation and communication – In order to improve transportation channels
in the country Nepal developed a five year plan that helped it to achieve significant
outcomes. The country established 44 airports in 75 districts including domestic airports
in remote areas which are linked with the international airport in Kathmandu. Nepal also
adopted an open sky policy allowing private airlines for operating domestic and
international services.
