INTRODUCTION
A tourist destination is that place where various tourists visits to see its natural or cultural
value, historical significance and built beauty. In modern world, tourism sector is growing very
well because of improved mode of transportation and advanced technology (Pechlaner, Kozak
and Volgger, 2014). Europe is considered as most favourable place of visitor attraction because it
have various beautiful tourist destinations which attract huge number of visitors across the world.
People like to visit tourist destinations to see their natural beauty and mesmerising monuments.
Also, they feel relaxed and excited in historical places. Individuals like to visit tourist
destinations of other countries because they provide them huge opportunities of economic and
national development. This project report is based on Trip Advisor which is a travel site and
associated with its more than 315 million members. Also, this report will highlight the most
popular travel company namely Virgin Holidays Limited. In this project report, various tourist
destinations have been evaluated in terms of their visitor numbers and income generation (Aktas
and Gunlu, 2012). Also, some cultural, social and physical features of those destinations have
been determined which can affect their popularity. Their visitor numbers, statistics and other
relevant data has been evaluated to determine past issues which is influencing impact on their
popularity.

1.1 Main tourist destinations and generators of the world in terms of visitor numbers and income
generation
Trip Advisor is one of the leading travel site of world, as, it have more than 315 million
members and approx around 5000 million reviews and opinions of different hotels, attractions
and some other travel related businesses. In present time, it is looking for improvements to core
functionality, content operations, international expansion and development of a variety of tourist
destinations. That it why it wants to analyse 5 top destinations in terms of their visitor numbers
and income generation.
Moreover, In modern world travel and tourism industry is developing very well. Also,
this sector has got huge importance after the recession period because of its continuous growth
even after recession period (Usakli and Baloglu, 2011). It helps in enhancing national
development as it provides various job opportunities to people who are unemployed so that they

can improve their standard of living . Tourists are categorised in two parts which are domestic
and foreign visitors which contributes in development of travel and tourism industry. As per the
official data of UNESCO tourism sector will cross the 200 billion GBP before 2020. There are
five major countries which is highly known for their tourist destinations which can be evaluated
by their number of visitors and income generation. Here is a table which can help in determining
five major tourist destinations in terms of their number of visitors and income generation which
is follows as under:

United Kingdom provides various employment opportunities to unemployed people so that they
can get employed. In upcoming years, this sector will gain high growth and development. United
Kingdom has faced various problems after the Brexit but this industry helped UK in overcoming

been decreased which have impacted huge negative impact on this country. Also, it has
decreased number of visitors who used to come in this nation for their business purposes. But in
present time, situations have changed, and tourism industry of UK is generating high level of
financial profit. This country has started night tourism which helps it in attracting a huge number
