INTRODUCTION
Tourist resort management is similar to that of the hospitality and lodging industry but
are not the same. Resort management is a broader concept that includes the criteria of facilitating
hotel services, leisure management, recreational administration, leisure studies, administrating
hospitality, restaurant and food service management. The St Mellion International Resort is
situated in Cornwell, England, which was established in the year 1976. The resort facilitates
recreational facilities such as golf course, spas and many other facilities, and this place is a
destination for many people. The report will cover an tourism point of view to explore different
types of resorts and their features, along with the issues and challenges of managing them. The
report will also look forward at evaluating the management strategies of resort to minimise the
issues and challenges of different functional requirements. For various resorts. Moreover, the
report will have a critical evaluation of the potent management issues and challenges to
recommend proper solutions to eliminate risks.

The different types of resorts can be summarised in a following way: Integrated Resorts: Integrated resorts include those destinations that are developed to
provide every possible facility, services and amenities that are planned in a manner for
the executive use of tourists. Integrated resorts may vary in sizes from each other as well
as their type of structures, accommodation facilities, etc. (Carreira and et. al., 2021).
Generally these resorts are completely equipped with sports facilities, recreational
facilities as well as cultural facilities along-with many more. These facilities are provided
with the help of equipped conference halls, ceremony areas, cottages, catering lounges,
houses and villas, sporting areas, spas, golf fields, etc.

Town Resorts: These are the types of resorts that are formed by combining the efforts of
local places and collaboration of the people to focus on resort activities. This contains
hotels, rooms and many other types of accommodations and tourist facilities and services
in that particular area. This type of resort is typically focused towards attracting the
customers with specific needs such as skiing, marine adventures, beaches and many more
(Cooper, 2022).
Retreat resorts: This resort is a form of integrated resort but a quiet different, and it has a
very high popularity as compared to any other type of resorts. These types of resorts
operates at small levels to provides high quality services and are located at isolated

of spas such as medical spa, health spa, hotel spa, etc. Beach Resorts: Beach resorts are are founded near the sea-sides, particularly, when the
priority for tourists attraction is focused on the beaches. Tourists at such resorts enjoy
their own beachside environment with the help of rented or self beach equipments e.g.
umbrellas, cabanas, and catamarans. Sometimes, the attendants of the beach resorts

comprises of various functions which are also performed in other resorts, these are mainly known
as Resort Operations. The resort operations includes reception activities, administration, support
service functions, vendor coordination, purchasing functions, maintenance function, accounts
and revenue operations and many more.
These functions of resort operations can be better discussed in details as under: Coordinative Function: This function is very important as it helps the St Mellion
International Resort to collaborate the activities that are happening in the resort. The

by reducing wastage, saving energy, reducing pollution, enhanced greenery and cutting down the
water usage. Sustainability practices by St Mellion International Resort are elaborated below: Create a Green Team: Employees of the St Mellion International Resort are trained and
hired keeping in mind the requirements in sustainability management. The company uses
eco-friendly practices and incorporates these habits and sense of green strategies in its
employees (Liu and et. al., 2020). Reduce the use of Plastic: The St Mellion International Resort has focused towards the
reduction in use of plastic water and rewarding the members who bring reusable bottles.

reducing water wastage, eliminate plastic, etc.
