INTRODUCTION
Resort management is one of the most important part of lodging and hospitality industry.
Resort management majorly involves overseeing lodging operations, recreational facilities,
special services offered by the resort and food services. Each resort based upon its type has
they’re on management (Alananzeh and et. al., 2018). There are many resorts that provides
various kinds of special facilities or services to their customers because of which it itself
becomes one of the most demanding tourist destinations. In order to maintain demand of their
resort as tourist destination they provide special training to their employees so that they can
provide excellent service to their customers. this assignment will lay emphasis upon different
features of common resorts and the potential issues of managing them, different types of resorts
and the packages available, consumer needs and resort packages that can fulfil their consumers
needs and guiding principles for achieving sustainable tourism for Ski resorts. Tourist resorts
chosen for this assignment is Nevis Range which is Ski resort present in Highlands in UK.

or natural hot springs.

A spa hotel is purpose of providing treatments for spa seeking clients and with focus on
health activities. Spa hotel offers many luxurious spa facilities, facial, body treatment and
signature spa treatment and providing customers services it usually offer many facilities like
fitness facilities, steam and swimming pool etc. fine dining restaurant is essential factor of a
wellness/spa hotel. The hotel food offered has to match better healthy lifestyles of customers.

of any facility and there should be a constantly stream of recommendations and direction from
the spa operator and hotel operational group (Seraphin and et.al., 2018). spa facility improve the
requirements if many management skills such as be supportive, listen, involves employees in the
decision making process etc. Spa needs to have the good staff in place and it is essential factor
for all hotel. Many different staff is required for the specialist areas according to their spa
requirements. Spa hotel require is to execute plan which maximizes the spa use at during off-
season and off-peak periods.
Beach resort
The proper requirement of multiple foods and beverage for customers and providing better
facility to all people (Miao, Peng and Mi., 2017). Beach resort requires operation activity to
promote all facility regarding customer activities such as gym, swimming pool etc. Beach resort

achievement of business objectives. Beach resort are commercial establishment with offer many
facilities to customer such as beverages, cuisines and accommodations. Beach resort provides all

Packages are one of the most important elements which is required to be focused upon by
the resorts. These packages help them to attract a greater number of customers increase sales and
boost their overall profitability. These packages are developed on the basis of their customer
segmentation. Most of the packages of the resorts includes all types of internal and external
elements of the resort. Composition of packages is done in such a manner that it includes
products and services as per their needs and requirement in limited budget in such a manner that
it is profitable for the resort business. These packages work as a USP for the resorts and also
helps in working as a promotional strategy for them and many times it also helps the resort
business to gain competitive advantage for the resorts (Kim, Kim and Kim, 2018). These
packages are developed in such a manner that it helps the resorts in attracting a greater number
of customers and achieving pre- defined sales objectives. Different types of resorts provide
different types of packages. Some of them have been explained below:
Holiday packages: Thee packages are designed for customers who visit resorts for vacation
purpose and start at the resort for 2 or more than 2 days. These types of packages include all
kinds of facilities, products and services that are provided by the resort to their customers at
lower cost. Pricing strategy adopted for these types of packages are mostly competitive
pricing strategy which not only helps the resort to attract their customers but also helps them
to increase their overall sales.
Daily/ regular packages: these type of packages are designed for those customers who visit
the resort frequently or after regular interval of time in these packages special services that

food and drinks additional services and many more helps the resorts to increase their same,
generate profit which is one of their main sales objectives. Most of these packages are developed
on the basis of two factors first is to achieve sales objectives and second is to gain competitive
advantage.

for analysis of market. Nevi Range is a ski resort that provides various kinds of products and
services to different segment of their customers such as: ski facility, snowmobiles, ski lift and
many more (Mauri and Turci, 2018). There are different likes of tools or methods that can be
used by Nevis Range conducting a market research analysis so that they can identify their target
customers and identify their needs and requirements. Nevis Range can use an analysis tool for
identifying their target customers and understand needs and requirements of their target
customers. SWOT analysis method is one of the best and most effective method which will help
them to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats so that with the help of
this analysis they will be able to identify the target market upon which they should focus upon.

developed for development a resort package in order to fulfil needs and requirements of the

Aim: main aim is to develop a resort package for beginners who want to learn snowmobiles and
ski in order to generate revenue and profit.
Objective: Main objectives of this plan are:
To attract middle and upper class people who want to learn snowmobiles and ski and
increase the customer base by at least 10 percent within 6 months.
Increase overall revenue by 15 percent within 12 months
To develop an area of beginners with a safe environment where they can learn snowmobiles
and ski as per their convenience.

the resort and package developed for target customers. they will also tie up with travel agents
so that they can promote their packages within their target customers.

Range, Ski Resorts and Hotels
Sustainability is an ability to sustain within the competitive market or environment
constantly and maintain a certain level and brand image within the market in which organizations
operate. In order to maintain sustainability within the market or environment different types of
resorts adhere sustainable approaches, practices and develop some sustainability initiatives in
order to run their business within a sustainable environment also help them to maintain an
appropriate brand image (Müller, 2019). However, there are various kinds of challenges that are
faced by resorts in maintaining a sustainable brand image and maintaining sustainability within
their business. For this they also need to adhere all kinds of environmental policies and
legislations and in order to ensure that all the initiatives and practises adhered by them are being
fulfilled they need to conduct both internal and external audits from time to time in order to
ensure that all the sustainability initiatives and practises adopted by them are being fulfilled in a
proper and appropriate manner.
Nevis Range, ski resorts have also implemented some important sustainable approaches,
practices and initiatives within the resorts in order to maintain their brand image, increase
customer base and increase their sales and profit. Today one of the major concerns which is

faced globally in environmental concerns or issues. Chosen Ski resort have taken various kinds
of sustainable development initiatives so that negative impact upon environment can be reduced.
Most of their services uses green electric energy generated by social panels. Facilities or services
that requires lower amount of energy mostly uses green electrical energy. Not only this, their
room water heaters also uses green electrical energy. It is one of the main initiatives that they
have taken towards sustainable development. They have also leased 2 roofs that meet criteria of
solar electricity production. Other than this, they also use renewable water pipes so that damage
to the environment can be reduced (Moser and Baulcomb, 2020). they have also adopted waste
recycling practise within their business which helps them to recycle maximum wastage possible.
All of their packaging are recycled and reused. Not only this, they even motivate their customers
to recyclable waste such as water bottled in yellow containers so that it can be recycled and
reused properly. Most of the snowmobile sled used within the resort are electric and in order to
recharge those electric snowmobile sled they have located and developed charging points for the
electric sled. Another one of the main sustainability initiative taken by them is by organizing
educational trips or programs whose main objective to make people aware about rising
environmental issues and ways in which these issues can overcome.

requirements in a much better manner. it has also been analysed that each type of resort needs to
focus upon a specific type of target market so that they can understand their needs and
requirements in a much better manner. this further helps the resort to develop a proper business
plan for a specific resort package for their target market segment. It has also been analysed that
there are various kinds of sustainability issues that are majorly faced by resorts. It is important
for resort owners to focus upon adopting appropriate types of sustainability approaches, practices
and initiatives in order to overcome types of sustainability issues faced by them.
