INTRODUCTION
Resorts are the special segment of the hospitality industry that is a place visited by
people for recreational activities such as recreation or holidays for a particular objective.
There are different activities that are to be undertaken for the purpose of effective
management of resorts. The main purpose of the report is to explore different types of
tourist resorts that are present in different locations across the world (Ahnand Back,
2018). Further, there is an analysis of the management issues that are faced by the
management of such reports in the process of performing various operational functions.
Based on the different types of resorts there are potential issues that have to be
analysed and according to that various customers, packages are evaluated that can be
adopted by resorts for attracting potential customers.

According to Webster resort is a place that is defined as a place providing
recreation & entertainment especially on vacation. It is used to describe a commercial
establishment that is a place or a town for attracting vacation visitors and the difference
between a hotel and resort is that amount of facilities. Resort guests can enjoy
everything that is part of convenience, includes food, lodging, and entertainment
activities.
Different types of resorts are mentioned below:
Beach resorts:
Activities: These resorts are located directly on a beach that is having close proximity
such as playa Dorado, an exotic Caye beach resort. Most of such beach resorts are
offering guest exciting water activities such as tennis, horseback riding, beach
volleyball, kayoing, snorkelling, scuba diving, boating, windsurfing, or jet skiing, some of
the beach resorts also gave on-site beach reserved for guests (Ahn, 2020).
Facilities: In Beach resort the main facilities that include the beachfront resort and the
spa facilities. There are gym facility and a special play area for kids. Apart from this,
there are hotel facilities that are a type of accommodation being part of these beach
resorts. Some packages include the complimentary breakfasts in some special
schemes with additional costs. There are hotel-type rooms in form of accommodation
facility that includes en suite bathrooms and offering the dining facility. Some of the
beach resorts can be of a country house type that is a converted house or be a
sentential building that is dwelling to provide the overnight accommodation and has
definite public areas built up exclusively for the guests. There is a swimming pool facility
with different sizes of the pool that are offered to customers (Ahn, 2020).

Challenges: Beach resorts have to deal with the challenges of poor planning that is
further characterised by poor planning and development of beach resort son Asia pacific
region. Further there are issues of socio economic development that has resulted in
detracts quality of individual resorts. Global warming as a challenge is leading to a rising
of temperature, wilds forest, a drought that is leading to shifting of rainfall patterns, snow
is melting and glaciers are affecting the sea level (Li, 2020). Beach tourist is facing a
huge issue because of the conflict between tourism and nature; there has been a long-
awaited snowfall in the year 2016 that resulted in the snow a threat for the future in
some areas where beach resort is having a presence.
The managing beach resort also requires a high amount of investment that can
sometimes lead to a high managing cost that sometimes leads to high financial cost for
management of such resorts.
Golf resorts:
Activities: In this type of resorts, there is on the site golf course or are located very
close with at least one such course. In addition to some resort accommodations, the
major activities include facilities of swimming pool, golf, gym facility, a playground
designed for children of all age groups and not just kids. Key activities of a golf resort
includes the residential real estate that is generally for accommodation facilities in form
of a real estate unit for rent for residential purposes. Key activities include the ancillary
sports leisure facilities that are synergies between the main components of resort and is
contributing towards a resort success. golf is the key point of these resource because
popularity of gain has started since 20th centuries (Noone, Enz and Canina, 2019).
Facilities: These resorts include golf passes so that guests can play around without
paying any type of additional charges. It also includes the confirmed tees time, use of
golf carts, and prepaid green fees. The major facility includes the villa apartments as a
part of the resort. In this, there is a special villa designed individually for guests
according to the requirement of a number of people to stay.
Hotel rooms are also part of the resort where there are different specially designed
rooms that include special suites for couples, family rooms that are specially built up for
people according to their customized requirements. It includes one golf course, another

20% of the features to golf courses and the remaining 5% have three golf courses on-
site. Many property developers have capitalised the ghost industry by positioning the
golf course living as a new trend of lifestyle. It has combined the opportunity to enjoy the
beauty and living beside a golf course with easy access to the course. Other facilities
that are offered to people in the way of golf course include the green spaces with
fairways and the lifestyle that is a sense of prestige associated with living beside a golf
course. In Italy and France are the most targeted for mass tourism because of Northern
Europe and the development in these countries has affected the overall presence of golf
resorts.
Challenges: Gold resorts are facing challenges with development there has been a
comparable change because of the rise of technology. Golf playing has been declined
because of working weekends and young individuals are not preferring golf because of
other software games.
Higher competition: different other types of resorts are a big threat to Golf resorts as
they are not able to deal with the situation of changing customer preferences. Such as
there is the rise of social media applications and online customer reviews are leading to
higher competition and increase in expectations of customers.
Impact on environment: resorts have a high pressure to adopt sustainable measures
so that they are able to deal with the changes that are taking place in the external
environment. There is a focus on the concept of sustainable tourism where there have
to be complete changes in the infrastructure and amenities where the objective has to
be on preservation of environment and reduction of risks.
Expensive sports: Golf is counted as an expensive sport played across the world. The
reason behind it being so expensive is that it requires more knowledge and skills than
any other sport. An individual spends about 20 thousand hours of training session to
make it's pro plays. There are lots of challenges faced by golf resorts like; Maintenance
cost, due to high cost of this game, the golf club has to maintain a good amount of
financial resource for its smooth running, it includes maintenance of ground, golf
equipment, Food options, it refers to maintaining a good quality of food delivered during
the game course, and also providing a variety of food to its members for its better
service.
