Introduction
In recent years, academics and management professionals have been distinguishing
knowledge as a critical source of competitive advantage. The use of knowledge management in
the organizations have been developing an extra place in the operations. It has been a substantial
resource for a company including unique and non-commutable resources.
This report has discusses the knowledge management practices in the Toyota Motor
Corporation. Various interventions related to the current knowledge management practices in the
company has been discussed with the changes and innovations in it. This report has also outlined
challenges from integrating artificial intelligence in the manufacturing process.
1.1 Toyota Knowledge Management Strategy
Toyota Motor Corporation has experienced immense growth in the market since
initiation. However, the company has been facing a lot of issues during its expansion in the
market. Therefore, these approaches have helped in attaining a specific position in the market.
Various innovation and changes have been dining in the company for development of the
company in the market (Peter, 2018). Meanwhile, the company has understood the importance of
knowledge in the business arena. However, the company has understood that managing
knowledge in the work environment help in maintaining a healthy work environment. In the
initial stages, the company used to produce cars only in Japan and export it to other countries.
However, with the increase in the globalization and increase in demand, the company started
operating in various foreign markets (Obeidat, 2016). The company started developing at its pace
by accumulating various approaches including lean production and total quality management.

established in many other countries including China, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil, India,
Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia (Hill, 2017). It has been depicted in the figure given below.
The company is aware of creating knowledge in an aggregation of data and information.
However, it becomes a human behaviour in maintaining a proper distinctive human process.
Therefore, the management of the company has been trying to alter data and information used for
knowledge by organizing, summarizing and analysing final decision (Perez-Soltero, 2015).
Knowledge Management seems to be an approach in both the academic and corporate world.
However, there has been various intervention in the knowledge management practices of
Toyota Motor Corporation. Several aspects have been effectively managed, although there have
been lacking some of the aspects of the knowledge management strategies of the company
(Perez-Soltero, 2015). The knowledge management has been depicted as a knowledge
management tool that is depicted as tow aspects including information handling tool and
strategically focused management tool (Becerra-Fernandez, 2014). Toyota has been gaining its
capacities for meeting increase in demand. The strategy has been helpful in meeting global
demand of cars and vehicles of Toyota. The sharing of knowledge has been done with the help of
knowledge management as a management tool. Initially, Toyota has been adapting various
strategies with learn local, act global (Luckin, 2017). Maintenance in the quality has been
specialized in mechanism for implementing sustainable demand in the international market
(Lopes, 2017). The Toyota Production System (TPS) has been benefited with the implementation
of knowledge management strategies (Obeidat, 2016). The department has been operational
effective in their action. The motivation behind utilizing and utilizing KM ought to be clear as
along these lines just the organization can successfully deal with its KM practices and
methodology (Makridakis, 2017). The company has been able to share knowledge in the in both

aspects of knowledge management. Knowledge management can be a troublesome part for a few
reasons. These reasons may allude to the trouble with the sharing procedure or in light of the fact
that the common worker of the human cerebrum and considering (Roos, 2017). There is a need
to build up a successful sharing technique keeping in mind the end goal to beat trouble with
Knowledge management. This can be gotten by giving a sharing medium or on the other hand
executing a productive information sharing framework (Botoeva, 2016). A case of the effective
sharing medium can be having workshops and master yearly gatherings. In connection to the
human instinct part, individuals may decline to share learning as they believe that this learning
may appear to them as a way of acknowledgement or be being one of a kind and that they might
be in hazard in case they shared this information (Vladeck, 2014). A few associations worked
toward defeating those difficulties.
1.2 Impact of Knowledge management on Toyota
In the vast majority of organizations try to execute KM methodology, a typical problem
happened is about inadequate correspondence (Collins, 2015). For effective execution of the KM
system, it is basic that organization management has typical help from its best administration.
The organization administration should attempt for accessing top management for advancing
systems that will prop up learning and share (Heisig, 2016). Toyota ends up ready to get full help
from its best administration it will generously end up capable of creating and executing an
effective KM methodology.
Effective execution of KM is fundamentally connected with an association's culture. The
administration of Toyota additionally needs to build up a powerful relationship between its KM
system usage and its culture. By focusing on its workers and their typical part, the organization
can have an unmistakable KM methodology execution (Becerra-Fernandez, 2014).

The organization that focuses on its culture are significantly readier to achieve its objectives in
contrast with the firm that focuses more on innovation. This ought to be comprehended by
Toyota and after that exclusive, it will end up capable in the flourishing execution of its KM
technique (Wu, 2017).
Knowledge management as an information handling tool
Knowledge is considered to be an important aspect in the information handling in
knowledge management. It includes basic information about the organization and utilization of
knowledge in different aspects of the company. In the case of Toyota Motor Corporation, the
company has been able to collect data and information about the internal shareholders and
satisfied them with their products and services (Vladeck, 2014). In the first stage, the company
have to collect data and information ad in the second stage the information needs to be stored in
a storage device.
Knowledge management as a strategic management tool
The following generous part of KM that should be overseen by Toyota is KM as a vital
administration device. It is said by administration experts that powerful learning administration
starts with a system. It worries about a KM technique, learning is recognized as a most important
and less utilized asset (Wu, 2017). For enhancing information sharing and existing learning
administration rehearses, it is fundamental that the organization enhance its current KM
technique as it assumes a generous part in successful information administration.
Toyota has been investing in multipurpose vehicles that might help in increasing self-
reliance of manufacturing facilities in emerging markets. Toyota has been upgrading its vehicles

Asian and Latin American countries from 60% to 70% by introducing multipurpose vehicles
(Botoeva, 2016). Machine learning and data science have been the key technologies as the
processes and products related to the automotive industry and automatic learning (Vladeck,
2014). Various artificial intelligence technologies including voice recognition in vehicles,
automatic facial and traffic sign are integrated into the automotive industry. This advancement in
technology in the automotive industry has been creating several new opportunities for companies
in this industry (Roos, 2017). These advanced technologies have been minimizing human
involvement in any complex duties in industry. These IMV cars can help in creating an
opportunity for emerging markets with their particular needs and demand for more competitive
pricing (Barley, 2018). However, IMV cars are only for emerging markets and will not be sold in
other regions including Japan, the USA and Western Europe.
For making a powerful KM technique, the organization need to create frameworks that
altogether reassign interior information into one of a kind practices. The organization
administration need to think about the greater part of its points, goals and foreseen brings about
see to KM as it differs for association (Sabherwal, 2014). At some point, KM can be worked out
as an approach to upgrade execution, profitability, coordinated effort and intensity and in some
cases, it might be utilized for amending compelling fulfilment, sharing and usage of data inside
the organization.
2.1 Impact of artificial intelligence technologies on the automotive industry

brakes is efficient in bad rods and hilly areas as there is always a slope in these roads. The
control over the driver might get lost due to high altitude. Therefore, the car can by itself control
its motion.
Cloud-Hosted Intelligence
Cloud computing has a new concept introduced in the automotive industry. This has
become a useful platform for developing and deploying artificial intelligence technologies
(Vladeck, 2014). Features of cloud computing including accessibility and diversity of data and
information stored over the internet have been helping in maintaining the driving easy. The
partnership of automobile companies with cloud computing service provider has been a common
approach in the market (Makridakis, 2017). The details of the driver and passenger can be
obtained from the cloud. Automobile companies have been befitted with the GPS tracking
system linked with the car. This has helped in detecting the position of the car and store the data
over the cloud. Therefore, this has been a step towards security of the vehicle from getting lost
or stolen (Fox, 2018). Various maps and directions of destination are stored over the cloud that
helps in drivers in driving to that destinations. Various restrooms and petrol pumps are stored
over the cloud data for locating them easy in case of an emergency (Makridakis, 2017). Various
restaurants, hospitals and service centre for repairing have been providing over the data stored in
