3TRADE POLICY OF AUSTRALIAIntroduction:In the present scenario Australia has negotiated with a number of trade agreements inorder to promote economical development of the country. In recent trends, the wave of tradedevelopment is being disrupted by the significant changes in the policies of protectionism(Antràs and Yeaple 2013). In the current state these changes has been considered as the directconsequences responsible for the sudden changes in the nature of trade agreements. In thisregard, it is necessary to present a brief idea about the concept of trade policy. Trade policy canbe referred to as the set of rules which is concerned with the global exchange of goods whichincludes tariffs, import and export regulations and quotas (Barro 2013). The trade policy hasbeen introduced with an aim of developing smooth and effective process of trade betweendifferent countries. In modern era the concept of international trade policy has becomeincreasingly important. The countries with restrictive trade policies sometimes face the problemsof barriers to trade. However, the countries having less restrictive trade policies enjoy faster andbetter economic growth compared to those countries having trade protectionism. In this reportemphasis has been laid on the trade policy of Australia (Bishop et al. 2013). In this regard, thenegative and positive impacts of trade policy on the economy, industries and the employmentstructure of Australia have been discussed in detail. Economists have argued on various pointsregarding the positive and negative impacts of trade policy in the economic development ofAustralia (Borchert, Gootiiz and Mattoo 2013). Various changes have been made to the tradepolicy with an aim to reduce trade barriers and fostering the activities of export. The changesmade in the trade policies mainly comprised of the promotion of export laws, reductions in traderestrictions and the simplification of procedures of trade.
