• Government of the country is focused on maintaining a balance in
terms of political, social, economical and legal aspects.
• The UK government provides financial support to activities of travel
and tourism sector organisation.
• For example: VisitEngland, VisitBritain are funded by government
even for the private sector up to ￡ 100 million.

Function of government sponsored bodies
• There are different government
sponsored bodies which exist in
travel and tourism sector. For
example:
• Association of British Travel
Agents (ABTA).
• Association of Independent
Museums.
• Association of Leading Visitor
Attractions (ALVA).

Function of international agencies
• There are several international agencies that function for the
betterment of both tourists and the individuals that work in travel
and tourism sector.
• World Tourism Organisation is a strategic approach of United
Nations also known as the United Nations World Tourism
Organisation.
• World Travel and Tourism Council is the global organisation that
functions internationally.

• There is great potential in foreign markets especially those of China
because of political and economical stability.
• The use of this opportunity shall bring in great advantage for the

2.2 Influence of Local and National Policies
Local and National economic policies of UK have following
influences on the travel and tourism sector:
•Tax fluctuations results in increase in levy of customer availed
services and products.
•UK Guarantees Scheme is one of the economic steps that
government has taken for supporting projects up to ￡ 4 billion.
•UK Export Finance is a national policy that has positively influenced
the travel and tourism sector for providing insurance for the required
risks.

•After Brexit, it was considered that UK might face economic
breakdown which turned out to be a false prediction.
•The country experienced significant growth in the consecutive year.\
•The article “Record number of Chinese tourists flocking to London
after Brexit sparks plunge in the pound”, depicts that government
agencies and other local organisations of travel and tourism sector have
helped in stabilising the situation of economic decline.
