3TRAVEL AND TOURISM
Task 2
Strategies to Maximise Positive Tourism Impacts
Retention of visitor spending – The money which will be spend by the tourists will be re-
circulated within the local economy, which will help to improve the lifestyle of the local and
the rural people overall. Like in Masai Mara or Nairobi, the amount spend by the couple will
help the economy of the local areas to sustain and improve the lifestyle of them.
Widening access to facilities – Tourist facilities should be provided to the tourists on
maximum amount, as well as promoting the tourist attractions in a structured way. This will
help to bring more tourists to these places.
Community projects – Tourist places can be used for commercial purposes which will help
to improve the lifestyle of the local and rural people, like Safari and river rafting, as well as a
game reserve concerned with the wildlife conservation.
Employment and training of local people – Money can be invested to train the local people
to avail jobs in the travel and tourism industry of the country. Employment opportunities can
be in hotels, tour guiding, hospitality, and many more. If the customer service level is on high
standards, it will help to attract more international tourists globally.
Education – Tourism business have to understand the major issues regarding responsible
tourism in order to improve sustainable business practices. Guidance must be provided to the
tourists to learn the ways to protect the environment as well as supporting the local
communities (Meyer and Meyer 2015).
Limitations
Non co-operation from the local people
