Treatment of Superficial Telangiectasia with 1064nm Nd:Yag Laser:
Evidence:
There are many studies that focused on determining the efficacy and safety of using
the 1064 nm nd:YAG laser in treating the superficial telangiectasia at different parts of the
body.
o The first study was focused on finding out the efficacy and safety of this laser
treatment to treat the telangiectasia conditions in the face and the legs. The
study had involved a total of 57 patients, who received this treatment. Among
them, twenty five patients had the facial telangiectasia condition and the others
received the same treatment for their leg telangiectasia conditions. The study
found that there was a significant improvement in the leg telangiectasia
condition in the patients after 3-5 treatments and there was even more
significant improvement in the case of facial telangiectasia after only a single
treatment (Major et al., 2001).
o The second study was conducted in Korea and it focused on the treatment of
various vascular disorders. The authors of this study also aimed for
determining the efficacy and safety of this particular laser therapy. There was
a total of 14 patients, who participated in this study. The side effects were
measured by examining the cosmic outcomes on the standardized photographs
along with examining the patient outcome. The study found that about 71.4%
patients were satisfied with the results and there were also minimal side effects
