This paper compares Peplau's theory of interpersonal relations and Parse's theory of human becoming in nursing practice, discussing their meanings, applications, and differences. Peplau's theory focuses on enhancing the nurse-client relationship, while Parse's theory emphasizes the quality of life. Both theories play a significant role in effective nursing practices.

Two Comparison Nursing Theory
The two nursing theories that will be under comparison are Peplau's theory of
interpersonal relations and Parse's theory of human becoming. Because nursing as a profession is
ever evolving and ever changing, a theory can readily be applied or integrated in the practice of
nursing. Regardless of whether it is health we are promoting or the quality of life we are
enhancing, a theory plays a significant part in nursing practice in our daily life. The paper
purposes to compare the two selected nursing theories by exploring deeply on what they mean,
application of each theory in nursing practice and finally showing the difference by comparing.
Peplau's theory of interpersonal relations relates to present models like interviewing
patients in a motivational manner, self-management of the client, making decisions that are
informed and finally the engagement of client (D'Antionio, Beeber, Sills & Naegle, 2014). In
other words, it is a theory that is directed to enhancing working health care among the
professional to understand their behavior, similarly to that one of their clients or patients
(Fernandes & Naidu, 2017). According to Fernandes and Naidu (2017), the initiation of the
relationship between the client and the nurse regarding Peplau’s theory involves one, orientation;
this is a stage that allows the client to express the issue (s) that they would want the nurse to
address. Two, identification, it calls for the health practitioner to take responsibility of
enlightening the patient. This stage is aimed at focusing solely on enhancing respect and general
working to meet the desires of the patient. Third, exploitation, this stage provides that the nurse
should modify the behavior of the client. Holistically, the change in behavior of the client will
make the work of the nurse easier by meeting their needs, and thus, they will not be depended
upon largely. Finally, termination, it calls for client carrying out self-management of the original
problem of address. the nurse can then detach from caring for client (Fernandes & Naidu, 2017).

On the other hand, ‘Parse's theory of human becoming’ is a theory that guides the nursing
practice to concentrate on ‘general quality’ of life regarding how it is ‘described and lived.’ As a
theory, it presents and provides an alternative to conventional bio-medical approach similarly to
bio-psycho-social-spiritual approaches that belong to other nursing theories and models
(D'antonio, Beeber, Sills & Naegle, 2014). The theory is based on rating the quality of life of an
individual ‘from each client’s viewpoint as the objective of nursing practice.’ (D'antonio et al.,
2014). Additionally, the theory gives an approach that is transformative to all nursing levels
(Yang & Tsao, 2016). It is different from the old practice, mainly in that it is not aimed at fixing
problems; instead, it aims at enhancing the quality of life.
In conclusion, it is emerging out that nursing, indeed is a dynamic profession. It is a
profession that has proved that you cannot continue doing the same things of the old the same
way as today. Therefore, as the situations change and as more researches are done, the profession
is meant to head the direction that will make it sustainable. Theories are necessary in the nursing
practices; for that matter, the two discussed theories in this paper are critical for administering
effective nursing practices.
