et al., 2016)

possesses the ability to
affect the eyes

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY AND THE
MECHANISMS LEADING TO THE DISEASE
 In the body of an individual suffering
from type 2diabetes, the liver, muscle
cells and fat do not response
appropriately to insulin.
 blood sugar does not get into these cells
to be stored for energy (Taskinen &
Borén, 2015)
 The body is unable to use the glucose
for energy
 This leads to the symptoms of type 2
diabetes.
