Code of Ethics for Uber Eats: Discrimination, Exploitation, Corruption, Dishonesty, and Whistleblower Protection

This report discusses the code of ethics followed by Uber Eats in relation to discrimination, exploitation, corruption, dishonesty, and whistleblower protection. It also highlights the importance of enforcing ethics in organizations.

INTRODUCTION
Code of ethics is related to the set out an organizational guidelines and best practices that
help for follow for integrity, honesty and professionalism. There is different type of code of
ethics are followed by organizations in order to maintain the business guidelines related to
discriminations, employer- employee relations, environmental issues, social responsibility etc.
Code of ethics are help for socialize practitioners new for the field of social work mission,
values, ethical standards, ethical principle etc. Present report is based on Uber eats that is an
online food ordering and delivery platform that is launched by Uber in 2014. This application
provide facility to users in order to read menus, reviewing and rating, pay and order food in order
to participate with wide range of restaurant. Also, these applications can be worked in IOS as
well as android in order to in orders working through web browser. Users can also provide tip for
delivery. There are different types of codes of ethics followed by Uber eats in order to manage
their employees.

Discrimination: Discussion
Discriminations refers to the unfair or prejudicial treatment of people and groups that are based
on some of the characteristics such as gender, race, age and sexual orientation. This is also
related to the act that is unjustified distinctions between people that is based on groups, class or
other different categories that can be perceived long. Discrimination can be damaging even if
someone done biasness with others. Also, the anticipation creates it owns chronic stress that is
need to avoid situation by expecting for treated poorly. According to civil acts it can be said that
age discrimination in employment act is very common that prohibits discrimination in
employment on the basis of ethics, age, origin etc. Also, any place people are doing
discrimination regarding action and behaviour that can be exclusively targeted someone uses to
personal characteristic and then treat them unfairly. This is related to the situation in which
individual facing discrimination by judging them accordingly on the basis of personal attributes
such as ability and merits. There are four types of discrimination that can be occurred on the
frequent basis such as racial discrimination at workplace, gender and sex discrimination in
workplace, age discrimination at workplace and lastly, discrimination regarding disability at
workplace.
Discrimination: code of ethic

Discriminations is very common now as days but it is necessary to follows the code of ethics in
order to consider the aspect of how employees can feel safe at workplace. Also, employees must
know how to respect other employees in the workplace Gotterbarn, Vazansky & Wolf, (2018).
Uber eats has followed code of ethics in order to uphold the human rights and also believe that
human should treat equally in all aspect such as fairness, dignity, fairness and respect. Uber
manage the code of ethics regarding discriminations during the process of recruitment managers
should not select the candidate on the basis of race and gender.
Exploitation: Discussion
Exploitation refers to the act which is selfishly taking the advantages of an individual or group in
regard to get profit from them. This is also related to the behaviour in which some aspects are
involved such as manipulation, abuse or maltreatment that can be controlled any person. For
example, taking advantages of someone who need for paying and job that is paying only pennies
for perform work in order to get rich. This is also considered as the illegal action that is
necessary to work on accordingly. In context to Uber eats accused of using the new contract in
order to exploit the Australian delivery riders. According to the article (Exploitation at Uber
eats, 2018) it can be said that drivers are allowed to pass delivery in such as way where they did
not work on the basis of exploitation and also followed code of ethics regarding this.
Exploitation: Code of ethics
The code of ethics regarding exploitation is related to provide equity and justice to employees in
order to aware them for being exploited. This is just as concern in order to provide equality to
employees so that they did not feel exploited Lord, (2022).
Corruption: Discussion
Corruption define as the abuse of entrust power for private gain and this is impacted by weakens
the democracy, erodes trust, hampers economic development that is related to further exacerbates
inequality, social division, poverty, environmental crisis. There are different types of corruption
are included such as Uber eats has faced the problem regarding corruption in order to ride hailing
company by accusing and permitting rampant workplace harassment. Concealing data breaches,
mishandling medical records etc. It can be related to Uber was not likely to stealing and spying.
Also, by considering the non- compliances with taxes, drivers of Uber are facing the problem for
by taking incredible risk that can be working in the cities or countries which are banned the

company. Also, it can be said that Uber is forbidden in various countries in order to call for
regulation in the industry or government that help for declaring car shaping app illegal.
Corruption: code of ethics
According to the code of Australia, section 70.2 (1) of criminals code is supported for corruption
that is necessary to followed by organization in the situation of offering, providing or promising
in order to provide a benefit not legitimately due to another person Jia, Raeside & Partridge,
(2021). Anti-corruption should follow by company in order to promote with the help of good
faith that is related to disciplinary measures or retaliation by company.
Dishonest and fraudulent behaviour :Discussion
This is related to the situation that is reasonable belief or actual knowledge which is fraudulent or
dishonest conduct that can be occurred. This is also related to the wrongful conduct by intention
of obtaining an unauthorized benefit. There are some activities that are related to dishonest and
fraudulent behaviour related to Uber eats such as taking longer routes for delivery the product,
manipulation the GPS data or using fake location GPS application. Then confirm food order but
not deliver due to any reason that kind of behaviour are face by management in Uber eats
employees. Also, Uber suspended the accounts for those who are below 18 years, because those
who are below 18 years who are taking supports from fake account. Another dishonest activity
is related to sharing the data of customers without taking permissions from them. This is illegal
activity by which individual can file case against the person.
Dishonest and fraudulent behaviour : Code of ethics
To follow the code of ethics it is necessary to work on putting the commitment to not tolerating
any fraud activity and immediately taken the action regarding the same. Also, it is necessary to
follow the code of ethics regarding dishonest activity so that its helps to improve the dishonest
behaviour of employees. By using the prevention framework for arrangement it is necessary to
implement, monitoring the dishonesty in the organization Furunes, T., & Mkono, (2019). Then
its is also necessary to follow the rules and regulation regarding employees of Uber eats are not
using expenses in such as way where the have done misuse by recording wrong entries. Then
abusive behaviour not accepted by organization in order to operate the activities of organization.
This is also necessary to set the boundaries in such way where it helps to maintain all the
assumption of employees without doing dishonesty.
Whistleblower Protection : Discussion

This is related to the act which is passed in the year 1989 ins order to protect federal government
employees in US from retaliatory action that can be followed the voluntarily disclosing
information which is regarding dishonesty and illegal activities that occur in government
organisation. This is also known for the third areas of ethics which is related to protection to
official those are believed in actions that are taken against misconduct or cooperated with an
investigation. This policy affects the employees of an organization of any ambiguity towards
regular practices that is being followed in organization. Also, this is not discouraged in order to
unethical activities but responsible for reporting such act regarding supervisor and colleague.
Further, this is also related to highlight the another dimension in order to more focus on
operating different types of issues which are necessary to meet whistle-blowing mechanism in
place. At Uber Whistle-blowing mechanism absent at that time when employees were left
unheard in order to not follow the last resorts of employee by considering internal option. This is
also required for the innovative technology and independent oversight for managing the internal
issue effectively. There are two types of element that are related to the sustainable and scalable
that help for objectivity and anonymity that is linked for improved internal oversight.
Whistle-blower Protection: code of conduct
According to the code of ethics it has been analysed that the main purposes is to follow the
guideline which is related to encourage the reporting in order to conduct and corruption. This is
also related to the risk of corruptions that is significantly highlighting for the environment where
reporting of wrong doing is necessary. Also, this is related to the infringes on traditional right of
employers in order to misconduct business that can be fit in the environment Shamsi-Gooshki,
Parsa & Moin, (2020). This is also affect the employees of company in order to follow the
ambiguity towards the regular practices that is being followed by the company. This act is
regarding Uber in order to more focus on the case of manager who messaging employees by
reviewing the performance in order to moving by dysfunctional unit. That is Uber more focus on
generating the women engineers and are black and hired just for avoiding any discrimination
against that is not matter according to the position and powers which is perpetrated or enabled
illegal behaviour.
Enforcement:
Ethics are defined in order to follow the morale values which is distinguish rules for behaviour
that is based on individual ideas in regards to good or bad. Also, ethics are enforced by

implementing the code of ethics that are including and creating the procedures for investigating
the allegations and also related to the imposing sanctions by violate the code. For any
organisations it is necessary to follow the code of ethics that is help for protecting the integrity
while prioritising the public interest. Also, it helps to manage the internal review in orders to
more focus on improving the practices by following some of the standards, law enforcement etc.
Present report based on the code of the ethics that are related to the discrimination in which it has
been identified that employee should focus on mot to follow that kind of practice which is
affecting the work environment.
Also, in the process of recruitment Uber eats not follow the discriminations in order to affect the
employees but also select candidates on the basis of their knowledge and experience. Then
another code of conduct is related to exploitation which enforce the law by behaviour in which
some aspects are involved such as manipulation, abuse or maltreatment that can be controlled
any person. Uber not tolerate that kind of activity which is related to malpractices for the
customers as well as colleagues Epstein, (2018). Further, discussed on corruption that is
necessary to understand by employee while delivering the food to the customer by following the
government rules regarding the same. Practice like anti-corruption are help to avoid any
misconduct at the organisation that helps to provide the knowledge of improving the work
environment by followings all the activities. Then analysed the dishonest and fraudant in order to
follow the rules and regulation for the same. That is why Uber suspended the accounts for those
who are below 18 years, because those who are below 18 years who are taking supports from
fake account. Lastly, focused on whistle blower regarding Uber in order to more focus on the
case of manager who messaging employees by reviewing the performance in order to moving by
dysfunctional unit.
