Procurement of Ultrasound Device for Renal Vascular Access Cannulation

This project aims to procure an ultrasound device that is economical, noninvasive, powerful, reusable and quick working for renal vascular access cannulation. The goal is to improve the procedure of hemodialysis and provide better diagnosis of the patients. The project objectives include successful procurement of the device, conducting hemodialysis therapy for any patient, and creating major financial and patient impact with a 100% success. The project outputs include resolving the issues of catheter dependency for renal vascular access cannulation, giving a catheter-free hemodialysis associated with the patient who is at the kidney failure end stage, and resolving the issues of X-ray and City Scan.

1. Project problem statement
Among the dialysis patients the issues of vascular access is referred to as a major reason
for morbidity and mortality access. Cannulation of vascular access is a process which requires
considerable skills for overall improvement and development. Due to lack of these measures the
patients can also face negative consequences (De Araújo et al. 2017). The experiences of the
patients get influenced with the ability and approaches of cannulation by the nurses.
Complication of miscannulation can cause augmented catheter’s usage. Due to the changes
happening in epidemiology among the dialysis population the patients who have issues with
arteriovenous fistula cannulation are increasing.
The problems those have been addressed can be completely mitigated by the procurement
of the ultrasound device for renal vascular access cannulation. In addition to this, successful
cannulations can be enhanced successfully through ultrasound-guided cannulation and also it can
resolve the errors of cannulation based complications like hematoma formation, infiltration etc
(Khamidullina and Puryaev 2016). It will decrease delay in access usability and decreasing
catheter usage. The application complexities will be resolved or reduced with the cannulation
assisted by newly procured ultrasound device. In addition to this, morbidity associated
complication, catheter dialysis dependency and healthcare costing, will help to enhance the
patient’s experiences.
2. Project Goal
The goal of this project is to procure an ultrasound device that is an economical,
noninvasive, powerful, reusable and quick working equipment. It is expected that successful
procurement of this device can be used in early vascular access complication recognition among

the hemodialysis patients (Khamidullina and Puryaev 2016). The ultrasound test is referred to as
a diagnostic medical imaging process that is used to view the internal organs of the patients
without skin damage. This project will focus on improving the procedure of hemodialysis and
providing better diagnosis of the patients. The procurement of this device is also helpful to
examine the different body internal organs such as gallbladder, pancreas, kidney etc (Rendon and
Rendon 2015). It will give a better treatment opportunity to the patient without interrupting the
reputation of the hemodialysis unit which is located in Australia. It will also give a global market
competitive advantages and commercial revenue to the company. This device is not time
consuming like the traditional treatment processes. Successful procurement of this device will
take lesser time for treatment.
3. Project Justification
The process of hemodialysis therapy can never be accomplished without vascular access
cannulation. In order to maintain some regular as well as optimal haemodialysis treatment,
functioning arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and arteriovenous graft (AVG) is very much important.
Haemodialysis nurses are positioned for monitoring and maintaining access patency that has
regular assessment capabilities (Sorunke, Omojola and Adeleke 2016). Though, all principle of
dialysis, asepsis and haemodialysis are required to be followed by the project associates before
the procurement of this project unit which is located in central Australia. Before procuring such
device to accomplish the renal vascular access cannulation the basic norms and regulation are
required to be followed. The organization requires to fund for this project because it will increase
the business efficiency and the patients care as well (Patel et al. 2016). As much patient care will
be increased that much the patients will be able be attracted towards the application and
functionalities offered by the Ultrasound device for renal vascular access cannulation. This

device also protects the patient’s from skin damage which happens for using X-ray and City
Scan. In other words, the ultrasound device avoids any kind of ionizing radiations.
4. Project objectives
The main objective of this project is to procure an ultrasound device which is an
economical, noninvasive, powerful, reusable and quick working equipment and some of the
SMART objectives for the project are as follows:
 To procure a ultrasound device for the healthcare industry that will give well-
functioning capabilities while treating dialysis of a patients
 To successfully conduct a hemodialysis therapy for any patient
 To create major financial and patient impact with a 100% success
5. Project outputs / Deliverables
It is found that, the hemodialysis therapy can never be achieved without vascular access
cannulation and well-functioning access. After analyzing the operational and functional details
offered by ultrasound device it is expected that, professional establishment of the well-
functioning deice are very much important (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017). Procurement of a
ultrasound device will be able to address the challenges as the newly reported device possess real
time ultrasound guidance techniques. This device will also give different ultrasound guided
cannulation methods to the users. It will also give huge competitive advantages and commercial
revenue to the health care industry which is located in Central Australia. Apart from this,
successful cannulation of an arteriovenous access will allow to give a catheter free hemodialysis
associated to the patient who is at the kidney failure end stage (Mena, Van Hoek and Christopher
2018). Not only this but also, the issues of catheter dependency for the renal vascular access

cannulation will also be completely resolved. As ultrasound devices are mostly painless in other
words, it does not require any needles, incisions or injections (Marchewka 2014). In this system
the patients need not to exposes to ionizing radiation. The issues of X-ray and City Scan become
safer with the procurement of the ultrasound device.
