it is organizing number of shows on its channels which are getting wide popularity
among the people. Hence, it can be said that in the private sector firm in enjoying top
position. Size: There is a huge size of the workforce of the ITV as it is operating its news channel
on national level. In terms of revenue also ITV comes in top category (Hill and
Hernández-Requejo, 2011). Hence, it can be said that size of the ITV is so huge and it is
giving tough completion to the rival firms.
Scope: The scope of operations of ITV is large. As mentioned above firm is not only
broadcasting news on its channels but it is also conducting varied sort of programs on its
channel in order to increase customer retention rate in the business. Mentioned firm have
its own team of experts that are creating an idea for program and implement same.
Hence, it can be said that firm is operating in multiple areas.
M1 Link between structure, size and scope
There is a very close link between the structure, size and scope of an organization. It must
be noted that in case of every business firm there is a specific structure that support the size and
scope of the business operations. As it can be seen that number of operations are performed by
the BBC in its business. If there will not be appropriate structure in the business then in that case
it will not be possible to handle varied business operations systematically. Thus, it can be said
that there is strong link between structure, size and scope. In the BBC organization structure on
top position there is a BBC trust. BBC trust is usually responsible to analyze and determine the
needs and concerns of the people (Iyer and Henderson, 2012). Thus, it work closely with the
audience council and according to needs and requirements of the people develop TV programs
for its shows. Moreover, BBC trust is responsible to look after work of the executive committee
members in order to ensure that everything is going well at the workplace. Executive board
operates at middle level of the organization and it usually responsible for the operation
management of BBC. They are responsible for the effective implementation of the operations
that are performed at the ground level.

BBC trust is finding out people needs and demands time to time and accordingly is making
decision in respect to programs that must be started on channel (Nickels, McHugh and McHugh,
2011). Thus, top part of structure is supporting the scope of the firm business operations.
Executive committee is determining the way in which all programs will be implemented at the
workplace and TV programs will be organized. Thus, this ensured that proposed program will be
launched in better way. Thus, it can be said that structure provide support to scope of the firm
business operations and due to this reason there is heavy interlink between organization structure
and scope of operations.

P3 Impact of web of organization function on organization structure
In the business firms there are number of departments like production, HR, finance and
material department etc. There is very close relationship among these departments as
performance of activity of single department is dependent on other one. Hence, decision and
working of one department affects other one. Organization structure is basically a hierarchy in
which different designations are listed below each other. This structure determine the flow of
information in an organization. Thus, it can be said that if information flow will get affected at
single point in the organization communication process will become failed. For example finance
department does not communicate information about availability of limited amount of fund to
the marketing department then in that case it is possible that latter department prepare its
marketing strategy whose cost may be so huge (Siewiorek, Saarinen, Lainema and Lehtinen,
2012). Thus, it can be said that interruption in the flow of communication affects entire
organization. Thus, it is very important for the business firms to ensure that organization
structure is least affects due to interrelationship that is between different departments. There are
different type of organization structures namely divisional and functional structure. Divisional
structure refers to the structure that is prepared product wise or by considering geographic area.
Whereas, functional structure refers to the structure that is prepared for activities that are related
to the production, marketing, finance and human resource etc. Every firm must ensure that its
organization structure and interrelationship among departments are congenial to each other.

organization structure and interrelationship among departments are congenial to each other.
14
As mentioned above that finance and marketing functions are interlinked to each other. If
there will be divisional structure then interrelationship among these functions may create
problem for the business firm. This is because it is not possible to prepare marketing campaign
for each sort of product individually. Hence, if marketing managers of each division will start
making marketing plan at their own level then complexity will increase in the business and delay
will occur in decision making (Solomon And et.al., 2014). Moreover, quality of business
decisions will erode. Thus, it can be said that interrelationship among different departments may
affects the organization structure.
Suppose, there is a functional department structure in the organization. If this will happen then in
that case organization structure will be positively affected by the interrelationship between
functional departments. This is because now there is single finance and marketing manager of
the organization (Tayur, Ganeshan and Magazine, 2012). There will be better communication
among both sort of managers which will lead to development of broad understanding among the
managers. Thus, communication will be better in the organization structure. Thus, it can be said
that there is impact of interrelationship of functional departments on the organization structure.
Relationship between organizations function and structure as well as objectives
It can be stated that the selected business enterprise which is BBC is carrying out its
business practices with a main objective to deliver high and best quality. Furthermore, it also
aims at ensuring that the services are being offered to people in the market without any
manipulation or interruption. It can be also expressed that the present structure of BBC UK can
be classified into three major areas which are media regulations, BBC executives and trusts
(Welford, 2013). In the present scenario, the selected business enterprise is facing issues related
to increasing competition. In order to sustain in the marketplace, it is very important for the
selected business to focus on its different management functions and improve the same. The
brand has adopted for a divisional organizational structure in which all it has divided its
operations in different departments.
All the business operations and practises are carried out from inside the selected business
enterprise and the data or information is delivered only in situations when it is finally approved
from BBC trust. All the functions within selected organization are related and dependent with
each other. The firm needs to take care of the fact that strong and effective coordination exists

among various functions which are required for smooth flow of all business practises. In order to
gain competitive advantage over other market players, the company ensure that all its
management functions are directed towards providing viewers with quality content. The
managers and leaders working in BBC are effective enough and take initiative to control all the
management functions (Wild, Wild and Han, 2014). All the activities related to media are being
taken care and regulated by media regulation which lies within the lower division of BBC. At the
time of carrying out its management practises and operations, the selected company also ensure
that all functions are linked with the long term objectives. This strategy plays a very important
role in overall success of BBC. It also helps in enhancing the overall productivity of workers and
supports in providing competitive advantage to workers. Adequate interrelationship among
different functions of management results in avoiding all forms of mismanagement within the
organization. The relationship between different organization function also supports in delivering
the best quality of content to customers and enhance the degree of customer satisfaction (Lusardi
and Mitchelli, 2007). Interrelation between various functions of BBC supports in making the best
and most effective decision which directly contributes to overall success of the company. On the
other side of this, effective monitoring is also carried out by the management in order to ensure
that there is no loop hole or mismanagement within the different departments. The issues and
conflicts between various departments are being resolved with the help of strategies such as
conducting team meeting and focusing on training needs of workers. Thus, from the above
carried out discussion it can be explained that different organization functions within BBC are
directly related to each other’s (Ormanidhi and Stringa, 2008). Organization function, structure
and objectives are correlated to each other. This is because in the organization there are varied
functional departments like HR, Marketing and finance etc. All these departments have some
objectives like main objective of marketing department of the firm is to make marketing
campaign fierce so that more and more customers can be created in the business. In same way
objective of finance department is to make best use of available amount of cash so that less
amount of debt can be taken in the business. Thus, it can be said that each functional department
have its own objectives.

P4 Identifying the positive and negative impact of the macro environment on the business
operation
The macro environment of business consists of different factors such as political, legal
and social as well as economical. It directly affects performance of the business to a great extent.
For this purpose, it is important for management to assess the impact of different macro
environment factors on business operation. According to the given scenario, BBC news channel
is the most popular channel floating appropriate information among users. Here, firm must
consider different approaches which can affect its overall operation in the marketplace. For
example, changes in political factors tend to bring changes in inflation rate, recession bring
drastic changes in the operation of business (Anderson, Sweeney and Williams, 2011). This is
because rate of return goes down and firm face issue related to managing its business in the
marketplace. At this juncture, corporation must assess the internal environment and accordingly
implement suitable strategies for delivering good quality of services to large number of buyers. It
can be critically evaluated that changes in macro environment can be either positive or negative
where appropriate strategy must be adopted by corporation to increase overall rate of return and
stay competitive in the marketplace.
Furthermore, it would be effective for corporation to maintain appropriate research and
development techniques whereby it becomes easy to cope up with changing scenario and deliver
good quality of services to audience (Bass and Bass, 2009). For example, technological changes
might costly for the firm which in turn increase the cost of operation. However, this aspect
facilitates to maintain the well being business by enhancing its performance at global
marketplace (Adams and Periton, 2009). In addition to this, environment is also considered in
the macro environment factors which is focused by management of corporations like BBC so
that accordingly ethical conduct can be ensured. Apart from this, strong research and
development can make it possible to manage the external changes as sudden changes generally
have negative impact on entire business performance in the marketplace. This shows that macro
environment factors might bring positive and negative changes both and accordingly business
performance get affected to a great extent. It can be critically evaluated that most of the times
changes can be negative. However, some positive changes like favorable inflation or interest rate
promote the business to expand its venture in the marketplace (Cummings and Worley, 2014).
