ESSAY Tourism is one of the largest and most important industry from point of view of economy. Tourism includes all services and facilities which is included in providing leisure and pleasure which is away from home environment. In terms of employment basis, tourism and tourism industry are growing fast since 2010 in UK. There is some forecasting which is related to tourism which is£257 billion by 2025 (Britain's visitor economy facts, 2021).The tourism industry is expanding at a rate of 3.8% per year. The statistics of inbound tourism are being observed which are 37.9 million which are during the visit to UK in 2018(UK TOURISM Statistics 2020-2021, 2022).The GDP contribution in UK of tourism is£106 billion. The tourism industry also helps in supporting jobs which are at scale of 2.6 million. This essay with thus, discuss about tourism industry and tourism and along with this, some positive and negative impacts towards environmental, economic and socio – cultural aspects. Development of contemporary tourism and significant factors – Contemporary tourism development is the study of tourism which helps in knowing the development made in the tourism industry and the changes which are made around tourism industry. In the contemporary tourism there are some ethics which are related to tourism and the people need to follow (Streimikiene, Svagzdiene and et.al., 2021).It is important to examine the tourism industry and the aspects of contemporary tourism which helps in enabling and increasing the tourism benefits at large scale for the tourists. Contemporary tourism is helps in identifying the positive aspects of the tourism can be promoted to the travelers such that they are engaged in travelling to different destinations and places at large scale. Contemporary tourism has benefitted the tourists industry in many important ways which has increased the scale of tourism in UK and other different parts of the world. There are some major and significant factors which help in addressing the aspects of tourism at large scale. It also helps in addressing the prospects of how effectively and in appropriatemannerthesefactorsareprofitableandbeneficialforthetourismindustry (MacKenzie and Gannon, 2019).These factors are mentioned as – generating or source region, a destination region, a transit route and the last environment which is the major factor in considering the aspect of contemporary tourism. With the help of these significant factors of contemporary tourism, the important points are gained to the tourism industry as to in which direction they are proceeding and what are the improvements which are to be taken place. with these factors, there are some other factors which are – environmental factors, economic factors, technological factors, cultural factors and religious factors. This helps in addressing to the fact that tourism is playing major part in the economy and is impacting all such important and significant factors at large scale. Tourism and its economic impacts – Tourism is the industry which has been impacting the economy in both positive and negative manner. In respect to economic changes which have taken place, there has been the direct impact on the activities of tourism which are undertaken. Tourism and the economic positive impacts of it consist of improved tax revenue. People have been saving their personal income which has been raised according to their benefit and this has improved the lifestyle of people (Comerio and Strozzi, 2019). There has been increase in the living of standards of people which has made them travel more and enhance the scale of tourism worldwide. With the help of high standards of living of people, the facilities and leisure in the world of tourism are provided to them which help in improving the economic scale in significant manner. This also engages the people and travellers to spend more money on the facilities and leisure which is being provided to them. This has generated more profits in the tourism industry. On the other hand there are some negative impacts which are in consideration to tourism and economy. It becomes difficult for the host country to import the consumable drinks and food which are in the stage of developing or are poor in providing the facilities to the people or travellers (Li, Jin and et.al., 2018).This negative aspect has decreased the value of travelling to such places which have been increasing the demand of products and services to which the host country is unable to serve to the travellers and people. The other negative aspect in consideration to tourism and economy is decline in the traditional employment which has been the major aspect as to how the employment and jobs in the tourism industry are important aspects but have been impacted due to the changes in the economy. Tourism and its environment impacts - There are various positive and negative impacts of tourism on environment. Tourism has a positive impact on environment as it helps in raising funds for the development and protection of environment. With the funds, the government of the host area is able to undertake activities and 3
stepsforbettermentoftheenvironment.Tourismhelpsinboostingconservationofthe environment. For example, with tourism activities, people of the host area are made aware of the naturalhabitataroundthem.Theirawarenessregardingtheimportanceofenvironment conservation increases. There have been various developments in the tourism which promote the useofsustainablepracticesthusaffectingthetourismpositively.Tourismpromotesthe conservation and protection of natural environment. When tourists visit a destination, their activities cause air, water and noise pollution (Newsome, 2020).This is because with the inflow of tourists, there are greater number of vehicles on the road which lead to an increase in the air pollution.Thereisalsoincreaseinthesolidwastewhichleadstodegradationofthe environment. Further, tourism activities lead to destruction of flora and fauna and disruption of the wildlife behavior. For example, various activities such as wildlife safari are undertaken in the natural habitat of the wild animals. This may negatively impact the behavior of the wildlife. Tourism and its socio – cultural impacts – Tourism is the major industry which helps in addressing the aspects as to how the growth and development are being measured at large scale. This helps in knowing that there are some positive and negative impacts of socio – cultural aspects in the tourism at large scale. The positive impacts of tourism on socio culture are that the tourism helps in providing the opportunities to the cultural groups to expand through the nationals and international origins. This helps in addressing to the major concerns as to how the cultures are being diversified at large scale (Zhuang, Yao and et.al., 2019).This also takes the concern of the aspects of different cultures which combine together in the aspect of tourism and helps in enhancing the different cultures which are presented at large scale. There are different exchanges in the culture which are regarding the hosts and the guests. This also helps in addressing to the aspects as to how the development and information of tourism at large scale. 4

There is also one negative impact of tourism on socio – culture is that it reduces the bonding of family structure and promoted the nuclear bonding which is the negative aspects affecting the tourism industry. This decreases the value as to how the tourism can be promoted at large scale in an appropriate manner (Taiminen, 2018).There are certain aspects as to how effectively and in appropriate manner the changes in the nuclear families are considering the aspects as to how the tourism is not developing the stage of how the travelling is made easy. This has been the most negative impacts which helps in knowing that there have been the aspects of how the tourism is not considering the aspects of developing the scale of how different cultures are being addressed at large scale effectively. Thus, it is concluded from the above essay that future economic and environmental impacts of tourism will, concern the changes which helps in promoting the tourism in different parts of the world specially UK. The role of travel operators will be provided employment and this will help in addressing the aspects as to how the changes are being addressed at large scale. The future economic changes will consider the scale of employment to be provided the people and will help in addressing the aspects as to how the growth and development will be addressed. There will be strict government regulations regarding the tourists in the tourism industry at large scale. The tourism industry should follow the government regulations which will be framed at large scale. There will be rules for creating social awareness in this pandemic and this will help in knowing that how effectively and in appropriate manner the health awareness rules should be followed by the travelers at large scale. 5
